Get Off Your Butt! Why A Sedentary Life is Hurting Your Health

New in Personalized Living Webzine:
Quoted Text
Between working and driving, many Americans spend more time on their behind than on their feet, an average of 9 hours per day, and it’s damaging our health.   Research shows that spending more six hours a day on your backside can raise blood pressure, elevates your risk for diabetes, obesity, and depression.  And, if you suffer from chronic illness, sitting around can result in an increase in symptoms.

But you can’t just up and quit your job and devote your life to exercise...

This is what I was trying to describe as "sitting disease" a few months ago here. I will plough through this full force....

Thankyou for this link. I agree. I now have to work very hard to get health back due to not enough exercise in the past, as well as unbalanced nutrition and lifestyle.
Am doing two workouts most days, plus walking, plus yoga/stretch.
Plus choosing when I eat veg like pumpkin, sweet potato - which is before first workout of the day, so the sugars / starch don't cause more damage.

My sentiments. Us Explorers, must walk a fine line so as not to clause adrenal distress. For me when I'm in a 'sluggish' mode, the infrared sauna saves me every time. Thirty minutes in the sauna at 140 degrees and I've burned 300 calories, mind is clearer and calm, worked up more of a sweat than I would going for a brisk walk, and generally feel energized to start my day.

I've chosen to give up those "would have", "should have" long ago and am better off for it. As Don Miguel Ruiz mentions, do your very best. That is all that is expected. A friend mentioned to me the other day that one thing that she has observed in life is that we create our own misery. Now that's food for thought!

I've been thinking about getting one of these. Does the color spectrum replicate the benefits of outdoor light (same light energy benefits)?

We live in a strange country.  We push kids to go to college to get sedentary jobs, & then complain about the lack of exercise. We need to try to seek jobs that give us more activity if we can.

I also notice that many men want their wives/girlfriends to work in offices, but also want them to be slim & trim. Duh!

BTW, because so many people go to college nowadays, it is watered down & a college degree doesn't mean what it did 40+ years ago. So how about more of us learning a trade. It is more useful & needed in hard times.

Averno, we do have so celled "light sauna's* here of different colours and I remarked they do have merely an effect onto the nerve system and calm down stress symptoms.....
they aren't hot at all nor wet as other sauna's are but give you a muchmore relaxing feeling....

and Mrs T O+....and remember please the polluated air as well instead of jumping stright on into heavy crumpy exercises .... the heavy sweatty air in some
classes aren't nice at all... but I took notice lately, that visualizing such sitation as if you.... are also even helpful; no joke folks, truth stays always truth ...
