There are an AWFUL lot of carbs in the "O" shake! A whole banana AND a whole mango AND rice milk? I'd use half the fruit and then use only water, not rice milk. There aren't any "avoid" ingredients in there, but neither is that something I'd be able to ingest without getting blood sugar swings.

When I make smoothies, I use no more than 1/4 cup fruit, and I make sure to add a form of fat (usually ground flax, but I've also used chia, almond butter, ground almonds, or just some rice bran oil if I was out of other things) 1-2 cups of greens, and a protein source. The O smoothie listed DOES have the protein powder, but no fat and IMO way too many carbs.

I could see that being OK as a pre or post-workout drink, but no way would that be a satisfying breakfast!

We had extra large very high protein smoothies about 3 times a week for breakfast before I did the SWAMI Xpress 4 weeks ago.  Now the extra firm tofu and high protein soy milk are black dots for me so I've had to totally rethink the concept.

This morning I made what I call "slushies" for us about 1 1 /2 hours after our veggie and turkey bacon breakfast.  I used 1 cup frozen cranberries, 1 cup mixed dark berries, a heaping tablespoon of pineapple juice concentrate and some extra frozen blueberries, some water and some homemade almond milk.

The result was between a drink and a sherbert, so I called it a cold (REALLY cold!) fruit soup.  It was totally delicious and we each got 2 servings of fruit.  The best part was no berry seeds in our teeth!!!!

I am supposed to have 3 servings of fruit a day and it is often difficult to get the 3rd serving in, so this combo worked well.  For others it would be way too many sugar carbs with all that fruit.

6 years on ER BTD, went from sick and dying to healthier And 30 pounds slimmer.

Dec 2013: Started Swami Xpress - I'm 48% Explorer with hybridized Explorer/BTD list. A new adventure for this old lady!  -- LOST 5 more pounds on SWAMI!
