Dr. D might want to add this on the blogs on here so it is at the top of the page scrolling around?

Probably easier for you to do-- or someone else to do.

The Personalized Living magazine, is featured near the top of the home page of the D'Adamo site.

http://www.dadamo.com/

Some of the content of magazine is simply reproduced blog entries.  So if you put the stories from the magazine in a scroll with the blog entries, you have entries to the same content in two different places. I would consider these redundant entries to be confusing and therefore undesirable.

Listening to Cravings:

http://northamericanpharmacal.com/living/2013/08/listening-to-cravings/

Quoted Text
Sometimes, our cravings are messages from the brain that we need a balancing food source for a nutrient–other times, the body’s cries for healthy foods may be misinterpreted as a craving for something else. Learning to listen to our cravings, and separate the psychological cravings from genuine physiological messages from the body is the key to overcoming our cravings.

CSharp then why the need to keep adding posts here on the forums to direct people to it?

I've found that, when one of my blogs is linked from a post in the forums, I'll get a lot more replies than the ones that don't get promoted via forum posts.

Not everybody notices the links at the top of the "new posts" page. I suspect some people don't use the "new posts" feature at all, and therefore may not see the blogs at all. There are probably other people who read the blogs and never read the message boards.

Cross-posting isn't a bad thing, as long as it's not overdone.

I think cross posting would help-- posting to the forums gets old for the person doing it.

Most people stop looking at posts that drop below a certain level-- .

Blood and Bone

The process of bone breakdown and repair occurs throughout life. With osteoporosis, the calcium that keeps bones strong is lost and new bone formation stops occurring to repair bone loss. The result is that the skeleton becomes fragile, and the bones grow thin and brittle.

Going shopping with 7 people was rather chaotic, but we put together a nice meal. ...

Unlike many other social meals I’ve experienced in the past few years, I walked away from the table completely satisfied. I didn’t get sick from the meal because there wasn’t anything in the meal that was bad for me, ...

Not only did I enjoy time with my relatives, but I didn’t even have to worry about getting sick from the food I ate or getting sick from not eating enough.

Blood Relations

http://northamericanpharmacal.com/living/2013/09/blood-relations/

Quoted from Peter D’Adamo
It would be tidy if all people who were blood group O lived in one part of the world, and all blood group A in another. But this does not happen. The various blood groups are found pretty much all over the planet. However they are not found in the same frequency everywhere. It was this difference in the frequency between the blood groups that gave the early blood group detectives their first insights into a tangible form of human individuality.

Personal Trainer Delivers Knockout Results!

Michael Knapp has worked with clients that range from everyday folks to professional athletes at his gym in Grand Terrace, California. While he employs traditional exercise methods like weightlifting, cardiovascular training and core strength, he also blends in his knowledge of biomechanics, kinesiology, and blood type science when developing workout programs.

“It really helps to know how clients will react to stress. Knowing a client’s blood type will help me to understand what kind of exercise will help them reach their fitness goals and not get frustrated or stressed out,” explained Knapp.

Losing weight is hard work. There’s no arguing that! That “Weight-Loss” Shake is Actually Packing It On

New in Personalized Living Webzine

Quoted Text
Over 80% of us can’t tolerate most weight loss products.

Most so-called weight-control shakes are only about limiting calorie intake without taking into consideration your unique biochemical needs. Do you wonder why so many people lose weight, only to gain it back–and then some? Or why many people may lose weight in the face and neck, but remain persistently overweight around the middle? Improper and unhealthy weight loss leads to unbalanced and unhealthy weight distribution.

Once we get back [From IfHI UK Conference], we kick off the launch of the print versions of the Eat Right 4 Your Type cookbooks, which feature fantastic recipes developed by Chef Kristin O’Connor with Dr. Peter D’Adamo for followers of the Blood Type Diet. The recipes are delicious, and the books are beautiful, with luscious pictures of the savory recipes, helpful tips, and weekly meal plans. I’ve been enjoying sampling the recipes, and I’ve found them easy to follow, and they are good for day-to-day food planning as well as for special events.

Yeah! Welcome, Autumn! With all your savory and sweet soups and breads....I know this is going to be a time of new treats. If Autumn were a person, I would sit them down and give them soup, and we would make handknitted or crocheted blankets together as the wind blows around outside.

Athletic Performance and Injury Prevention

Maimonides, the great Jewish physician and teacher, wrote, “As long as a person exercises and exerts himself…sickness does not befall him and his strength increases…. I'm glad the subject of athletic performance has come up.  I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced a noticeable improvement in their athletic performance since sticking to foods more appropriate for one's blood type and genotype.  Any takers?

To report my experience, the result has been mixed.  Interestingly, I do seem to have more power and energy during my workouts, particularly my short/fast runs and my strength training.  But my endurance has suffered, that is, I can't sustain it for long, and my long runs have suffered.  I love that I have more power and strength, it's certainly a plateau breakthrough, but I'd sure like to know how I can sustain it longer.  My guess is that I'm going into my workouts with so much more energy than before that I'm burning out sooner, and that I either have to ease back on the intensity, or maybe just wait it out and in time my endurance will improve.  Just me thinking out loud.

Putting the YOU in Immunity

Quoted Text
Most of us don’t consider that when we take a bite of food, we are impacting our immune system and its capacity to function. As Dr. D’Adamo writes in Eat Right 4 Your Type, “The immune system works to define ‘self’ and destroy ‘non-self.’ This is a critical function, for without it your immune system could attack your own tissues by mistake or allow a dangerous organism access to vital areas of your body. In spite of all it’s complexity, the immune system boils down to two basic functions: recognizing ‘US’ and killing ‘THEM.’” Since over 40% of our immune system is located in our digestive tract, our diet can be the number one defense against a poorly functioning immune system. Following the diet that is right for your type acts to improve immunity and protect you from disease.

Rest and Sleep During the First Trimester

Quoted Text
When I was pregnant with our first child I was working as a commission sales person for a radio station. I would schedule my morning appointments close to home so I could sleep late except for the mornings we had sales meetings. If I was wiped out in the afternoon, I would go home and take a nap.

Hypothyroid and Soy

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted from Clare Hasler, Ph.D.

There is no convincing evidence that soy protein has an adverse effect on thyroid function, particularly at the moderate level of consumption (25 grams) that would occur due to the approval of a health claim for coronary heart disease

Quoted Text
In essence, it you don’t consume 40% of your body weight in soy protein daily, you’ve not got much to worry about.

Your Immune System…In Training

Quoted Text
The first step is getting back to eating Right for Your Type. If you’ve fallen off the wagon during the summer, now is the time to review your beneficial and super beneficial lists and make special note of your avoids. Remember: when you take a bite of food, you are impacting your immune system and its capacity to function. As Dr. D’Adamo writes in Eat Right 4 Your Type, “The immune system works to define ‘self’ and destroy ‘non-self.’

This Gives The Term “Beer Gut” A New Meaning

People are diagnosed with Candida or yeast infections daily and a treated with medications – and while it’s a common yeast in the environment and in our bodies (thrush infections in the mouth and vaginal infections are common), doctors disagree that Candida can overgrow in the gut.

Out of the Horse’s Mouth

Quoted Text
I was listening to a health guru-type guest on a radio talk show recently and when a listener called in and asked her opinion on the blood-type diet she scoffed. She claimed that horses, for instance, have at least 12 blood types but they all consume the same foods. I know people aren’t horses but humans are animals, ultimately. I don’t have the research background to respond to her criticism. Can you help?

C-Sharp. How wierd you mention this. ok heres my story hence why im finding all this BTD thing hitting the nail on the head and i havent tried it yet. (Only started yesterday)
I had a horse who struggled with his weight come winter yet picked up the second the lands opened up and was taken off grain. we tried everything to get weight on him down feeding small and often, using palletable feeds. The vet finally said he had Equine motoneuron disease, this didnt fit so i researched until i came across a condition called EPSM that did fit. Horses with EPSM cannot digest grain like blood type O'S in humans, it creates insulin which attacks the muscles and there for everytime i was feeding what other horses would find weight gaining grain, his system was running a marathon just trying to digest it there for he was 1 losing weight 2 being attacked by insulin. In the end on his last winter he would be found unable to get up. once it wore off he would be fine and happily go off and graze.but his weight was becoming a serious worry. and muscle weakage/wasteage. Unfortunately i lost my old friend if only the winter hadnt been so long the lands would reopen and he may have made it for one last year of his 35year life. I only realised a couple of days before what the condition actually was and that he could only eat alfa hay and grass. Trying to find a supply off alfa hay was hard but i could see he had enough.
EPSM is common in the Irish draught but it is a rare thing.
Anyway i always knew grain and myself didnt get on and i was right. My gutt instinct finally beat the vets and found out what was going on with my boy.
Now if i have a horse that struggles with weight i do not feed them grain. and it works.

Whilst looking at this BTD reading it all over the last few days i have been talking about my boy and how similar it all is for not just type o human but how similarly grain effected him. Looks like my boy and me were well matched, and ive learnt something.

Success Story: Nancy Kuhn

Quoted Text
D’Adamo Personalized Nutrition Customer Service Team Leader, Nancy Kuhn was one of the first people to get a glimpse of The GenoType Diet. “I received a rough draft of the manuscript before the book was released– what a thrill! I’m a Nomad; I wasn’t surprised. The term “Nomad” had frequently been used throughout the blood type books to describe blood type B, so it came naturally to me. I just happened to be one of those Nomads with red hair and green eyes, so everything seemed to fit me to a tee.”

Heart Health for Type AB

Quoted Text
AB’s share the characteristics of both type A’s and type B’s in that tend to have the type A’s relatively high risk of cardiovascular disease and type B’s ability to fight it – provided you limit the amount of animal protein that you consume. Like their A counterparts, they have a high blood viscosity and tendency toward high cholesterol, similar to their type B brothers and sisters, they have difficulty regulating nitric oxide. Overall the best guidelines for blood type AB involve a combination of the best of the A and B worlds.

I think the ability for AB to reach a psychological and spiritual point of "floating on a cloud overhead" of the other bloodtypes is necessary for this type recovery

Healthy Eyes for People With Diabetes

Quoted Text
If you have diabetes, you should do all you can to keep your eyes healthy so you never have to experience any vision problems. It is vital to keep your blood sugars in the normal range, eat the proper foods, take additional nutrients, and keep the body alkaline. Do you know which mineral decreases diabetic retinopathy? If you guessed “magnesium” your correct. Magnesium protects not just your eyes but also your heart, brain, and nervous system. In addition, there are a variety of nutrients to help keep your eyes healthy.

Thankyou C-sharp, we all need to do waht we can to keep vision good, including making sure out elimination and digestive systems work as best they can, to keep wastes from clogging up the tiny blood vessels.  Yes, lots of veg, some high colour fruits, and BTD, GT will help. Oh, and some eye exercises too.

My modern, traceable lineage is entirely A's and B's. Few grew old. The B's all died of heart disease, the A's from cancer. I've always told my doctors that poor diet runs in my family. I knew this decades before hearing of Dr. D.'s work, and set out to change my "destiny" by following the abundant and seemingly sensible nutrition advice that we're still hearing today. Suffice to say, eating "health food" didn't help much because it was still the wrong food.

Thanks to BTD/GTD, I do now have reason to be optimistic about my own outcome even though my family history pattern alone would have me checking out at any time. My stats have improved, I feel great, and I expect to live a normal lifetime.

Hmmmmm... It would be interesting to see an actuarial table separated by blood type, with data correlating the subjects' dietary profiles.

Science Saturday: Your Gut and the Microbiome

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
ABH non-secretors are much more likely to be carriers of Candida species and to have problems with persistent Candida infections. Blood group O non-secretors are the most affected of the non-secretor blood types. One of the innate defenses against superficial infections by Candida species appears to be the ability of an individual to secrete the water-soluble form of his ABO blood group antigens into body fluids. The protective effect afforded by the secretor gene might be due to the ability of glycocompounds in the body fluids of secretors to inhibit adhesins (attachment lectins) on the surface of the yeast.

Best Food Sources of Lycopene for Your Type

It should also be remembered that tossing a tomato into your salad is not going to give you all that much lycopene. Tomatoes have a very high water content, so not surprisingly you only find high concentrations of lycopene in tomato paste. You also find large amounts of tomato lectin in tomato paste.

Every time I eat my FAVE lycopene source, watermelon, I think about how it is just too dang bad I don't have a prostate, or it would be in GREAT shape!     Lycopene is awesome for prostate health.  I wonder if it is similarly protective for ovaries.  These are the things that keep me awake at night.

In any case, I loooooooooooooooove me some lycopene sources, namely watermelon and tomatoes.  Oh YEAH!

What’s Your GenoType?
New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Broadening his approach to diet and health beyond the four blood types, naturopathic physician Peter D’Adamo profiles six GenoTypes and explains how readers can reprogram gene responses to lose and maintain weight, repair cells, avoid illness and age well. D’Adamo draws on epigenetics, the study of the interaction between genes and environment, to argue that tailoring diet and lifestyle to “GenoTypes” (genetic survival strategies that predate ethnicity and race and correspond to such external traits as body type, jaw shape and teeth patterns) is the most effective means to achieve optimum health.

Success Story: Stephen Martucci

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Fourteen years ago, Stephen Martucci’s nutritionist suggested that he start eating right for his O blood type. His father had died from stomach and pancreatic cancer at 50 years old, and Stephen didn’t want to suffer the same fate. “I started educating myself about cancer and how cancer cells cannot live in an alkaline environment, and this was good enough at the time. But I’ve learned so much more about proper digestion of proteins and cell health since then,” he says.

Green Tea Vs.Melanoma

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Here’s another reason to reach for a cup of green tea. Research at the University of Wisconsin found that an antioxidant present in green tea is useful against malignant melanoma, the most serious and deadly form of skin cancer. Malignant melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin cancer because it’s aggressive, fast growing, and rapidly metastizes to other body parts – often quickly.

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted from Ryan Cheney
Gelotology is the study of laughter, and humor. and their effect on the human body. Laughter has also been studied from both a psychological, and physiological perspective. What I’d like to know is who first presented the idea of doing research on laughter, and who first gave money for the study? That must have made for an interesting study proposal!

My Favorite Products: Dr. Colicci, ND

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
If eating for your type is your way of life, then you are familiar with lectins. Lectins are sugar binding proteins. They are found in a variety of foods, and many of them are blood type specific. They are most widely distributed in plants and are particularly abundant in legumes and seafood. Like Velcro to a tennis ball, lectins can attach to the various cells in the body and then create a number of physiological actions such as promoting bad bacteria overgrowth and insulin resistance. By causing the release of histamine from our cells, lectins cause inflammation which plays a role in food related allergies as well as immune and bowel dysfunction. Lectins can directly trigger the immune system creating a cascade of inflammation such as seen in the diet sensitivities in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. In one study, the edible parts of 29 of 88 foods tested, including common salad ingredients, fresh fruits, roasted nuts, and processed cereals were found to possess lectins which agglutinated, or clumped together, the blood cells of least one ABO group.

This article by Dr. Colicci was extremely helpful, because not only were several products explained, but also she laid out how and when the use and combinations are appropriate.

Aloha GMOs

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
I turned on the radio and listened to a show about GMO foods. I confess I was ignorant about the subject. The two things that caught my attention were a list of ingredients to avoid if you wanted to stay GMO free and a list of ailments that some research associates with high intake of GMO products.

The radio guest said there were eight foods on the GMO watch list. Corn, soybeans, canola, cottonseed, sugar beets are almost always GMO. In addition some papaya and a small percentage of zucchini and yellow squash are also GMO.

It's good to know there are simple clues such as fingerprint patterns that can reveal possible future health problems. My kids will not have the luxury of ever knowing their family medical histories. This kind of information is invaluable to them.

I remembered reading about the correlation between whorls and cancer, but not whorls and celiac. Both of my O daughter's have many whorl patterns, and my youngest seems to have the worst problems with gluten and gut problems. Very suspicious!

Pesticides Linked to Endomitriosis in Women

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Why do some women develop painful endometriosis and some don’t?  Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center endeavored to find out and came up with one possible contributing factor: pesticide poisoning.

Endometriosis, the growth of uterine tissue outside the uterus, causes pain and infertility.

Ask Dr. D’Adamo: Native Americans and Corn

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
On the subject of Indigenous Peoples: “In Eat Right for Your Type” you mentioned that most Native Americans are Type O. I was wondering (being a type O as well) about the use of corn, since many tribes have used that as a staple. Are there disorders common to those tribes linked to the use of corn, or do they have more tolerance than other type O’s or are there ways we can use some forms of corn in our type O diets?

Great American Smokeout

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
With each inhalation of a cigarette, you breath in over 4,000 chemicals, including but certainly not limited to arsenic, ammonia, acetone, ammonium bromide, benzene, carbon monoxide, cadmium, cyanide, DDT, formaldehyde, lead, mercury, nickel, hydrogen cyanide, and hydrogen sulfide, in addition to at least 50 cancer-causing agents.  According to the Centers for Disease Control, cigarette smoking causes death: nearly 443,000 deaths per year (1 in 5 deaths) to be exact. This is more than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides and murders combined.

Cures for Holiday Overindulgence

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
One of the more useful tools in clinical medicine is the Bioimpedance Analyzer (BIA), a safe and non-invasive diagnostic tool we use on virtually every patient at the Center of Excellence. Looking suspiciously like an electrocardiogram machine, with wires coming out everywhere, the BIA unit is designed to read the electrical resistance that exists between the various tissues and compartment of the body.

Studies Say Chemo Drugs Need Gut Bugs To Work

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Two separate studies have found that cancer patients may carry the most powerful weapons against tumors in their intestines.  Studies at the U.S. National Cancer Institute in Frederick, Maryland, and at the French Institute of Health, indicates that gut microbes are necessary for several types of anti-cancer therapies to work properly. The studies, published in the journal Science, suggest that antibiotics prevented two types of anticancer treatments to combat lymphoma, skin, and colon tumors.

Letting Go of Holiday Expectations

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
Lights are twinkling on trees, carols are lilting over loudspeakers, and department store Santa’s are spreading holiday cheer.  You should be happy, right?  Instead, you just feel stressed…and maybe even a little depressed.  Many times, we set our holiday expectations are so high that you can’t possibly reach them, and unlike that elf on a shelf, we can’t just appear and disappear at will.

Lightening your mental load of common expectations may relieve some of the holiday pressure and, possibly, set your spirit free.

Positive Changes At Sea Island

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted from Suzanne Graham
We have been good friends for nearly 40 years, so when they asked if we could meet for dinner, we cancelled other things on the calendar and eagerly agreed to meet them.

They selected a restaurant in San Antonio called Sea Island Shrimp House as a place about half way between our locations. I’ll admit that my face fell when they selected that restaurant. I first ate there about 30 years ago.

Is Your Food Clean?

New in Personalized Living Webzine:

Quoted Text
A growing number of Americans are becoming more aware and concerned about what they are putting into their bodies and demanding “clean” food. These people are not referring to how much dirt is on their produce, but rather the state of the food that they are consuming. This is not a new concept, in fact, it’s more of a retro, “back-to-basics,” lifestyle choice that most Blood Type and GenoType Dieters have been embracing for years.

Clean eating refers to something that is beyond organic and sets a new standard for purity.
