I read in another threat in the blood type that an A type with constipation, i guess it's the same with IBS, should avoid lactose and wheat completely. Does this include yogurt, cheese and wholemeal wheat, which are supposed to be good for a warrior? Thanks

I would say so - until the issue resolves itself...?! Even foods that are diamonds/beneficials for each bloodtype, are not necessarily good while you are suffering from particular conditions

Smiley, welcome.  Just follow the guidelines of your Warrior diet.... especially the servings of fruit and vegetables per day.  Lactose/milk of course avoid.  If I remember correctly yogurt is good for you and also a cheese or two... but watch the frequency/portion size intake.  Also, remember that meat/poultry, and even fish lack fiber.  Compliant vegetables and fruits won't steer you wrong.

This may not be exactly on topic, but when I was on my trip, I was talking to a woman who suffers horribly with constipation. She is type A & eats a very healthy almost vegan diet & has for several years. After such a long time eating properly, how can she still have trouble?
She avoids gluten as she is sensitive to it (not formally diagnosed with celiac altho she suspects it -doesn't always show up on tests).
She likes beans & eats some recipes with peanut sauce.
( I also posted on the July 2013 fresh start, but since it was the end of the month, maybe not too many folks read it.  I would like to see this poor gal get some relief!)

my guess is magnesium.  Does she travel often? For me travel = constipation.
Flying is dehydrating. Also often we are sitting for long periods. (planes and cars)
This the first year I haven't had constipation while I was traveling.  I doubled my magnesium intake starting two days before the trip. I still have to take in some form everyday and I almost always "go" after my two mile walk.  Our bodies need to move in order to "move".

Funny when I looked over my diamonds most all are noted for having magnesium in them. Swami know best.

Constipation..
I am O and I had been constipated for 15 years with BTD! I tried Magnesium, but it is so horrid tasting, I could not for long....  I was told often to eat more oil, I used it in cooking, but that was not good enough.

Then I started to eat 1table spoons of Extra Light Olive Oil and wash it down with water - I do that twice a day - and after 2 month I was NO longer constipated... all is well    I am O... But when I stop for a week I am constipated again...

For A's I might try 1 teaspoon at first or at least go easy at first... give it weeks to work. Then take it for all your life as routine.  (If you count calories, it has about 100 per spoon.)

Oil is not fat... oil is good for all who need it and while the amount might be different from the books, I still would try this... if it should work to well then just cut back for a day in-between..

Those of us who cut back on loads of fats, we need the oil. Just saying- test your own situation...

As for Avoids.. they ought to be avoids for ever-only when nothing else is available..

What would you do for extreme diarrhea??? A friend has it from nerves (or has nerves from weakness) .. and who knows why else... she is dropping weight and goes all day for a long, long time already...  I told her to go to the hospital, and at least get hydrated...  but in the mean time... what would you guess at?  Thanks.

The other benfit I get from the above mentioned oil:  I calmed my constant wanting food / something AND my brain is calmer, satisfied and much more in control of my behavior. This happened instantly and is reliabe after 20-40 minutes for up to about 3-4 hours. I can take the oil any time of the day or night and feel those positive effects.. In addition - I have no discomfort under my left rib (anymore), which I had all my life.

Magnesium is Ok - it worked at some point to go to the bathroom, but I tthink it might throw off all the other minerals.  and for me the taste of the Magnesium in the form I took it, makes me gag. I always prefere to eat my 'medicin', it seems safer.

Yet, by all means if it works for you so be it..

I would start with easily digestible beneficial foods and ghee along with larch arabinogalactin and probiotics...  The important thing is to start rebuilding the digestive system with proper flora and healing food.

try "Calm by Natural vitality. I like the cherry best. It will fizz so use a tall cup and about 1/4 cup of warm water.  If you like you can make a "Cherry soda"  by using seltzer water.
or just use the magnesium oil.

..... how did you take the oil, what kind, with food or alone? for how long did you try it?

I will be glad to discuss specifics.. Did you find a solution for your own situation? if yes that is good enough..

We are talking foods, supps, and exercises here.

I would like to add in context with this distressful subject something quite obvious, but usually not addressed enough and passed unawares:
The underlying fear regarding constipation is the Fear of Parting.

It would be very helpful to take this into consideration as well and to work toward healing it along.

Sometimes fear, sometimes terror.

One's body will tell if eating problem foods, take note of elimination patterns, is it healthy, easy, are stools easy to pass and are stools healthy?, main bowel motion in morning preferrably, and other times during day too if possible.
Eat main meals, try to avoid snacking.
yoghurt/cheese can cause problems if liver/gall bladder/pancreas sluggish; or on a spiritual level if solar plexus chakra is unblanced by stress of some kind due to relationships or at work.....
Ayurveda doctor may suggest fruit/grain/nuts/seeds at breakfast;  salad, stir-fried veg at lunch with some grain and protein (vegetarian is fine if combined with some grain) so body recognises complete protein.
wheat causes problems for people in the West, as is overeaten and in refined/processed/baked form which is sticky inside intestines and can dry out system.
If eaten as semolina simmered in water with some spice, or finely cracked wheat, or sprouted wheat bread, this is better as doesn't dry out intestines like baked flour goods which often contain yeast or unhealthy types of salt which holds in toxins within the intestines, and cause further imbalance in one' physiology.
wheat is highly regarded in ayurvedic cuisine for 'vata' and 'pitta' people as it falls under sweet category, and is good for underweight people, as is rice, and oats.
keep evening meals moist like split mung bean soup, or lentil soup, vegetables.
Fruit just in morning, some ghee and/or olive oil every day which lubricates inestines.  salad to begin lunch with olive oil, lime juice and black pepper is helping me. a little avocado just in salad at lunch great.
some people need to avoid dry snacks including rice cakes, chips, etc. as can dry out, in some people;  freshly cooked brown rice at lunch time good, contains fibre and minerals, good fats. and is grounding on a spiritual/mental level.

took me decades to find out. and weeks for it to work, one week off oil and I am bad again.. So yes extra light Olive Oil by the one or two spoon is just fine.

I follow the genotype book now that I have it but I followed the A type from Eat Right 4 Your Type for over a decade before i got this one only a couple of months ago. Some things are cool like being able to eat squid and octopus, I love this things!!! Although I've been vegetarian since age 17, I eat plenty of fish and when I read in ER4Your Type that I could eat chicken and turkey i started eating them so now i am finding hard to give up chicken. I just had a good ration of it in lemon sauce and was delicious, I had not eaten meat since last spring. I can't eat meat because I develop arthritis, I know this sounds strange but that's th way it is. I also get like a really scary sensation of a needle going through my heart, like a stabbing sensation and i have to stop breathing until it goes away, quite painful and unpleasant. My mother took me to docs all was good. When I gave up meat these problems completely dissapeared. Starting eating chicken and turkey never gave me any problems but I guess I'll have to give at least the chicken up ... maybe my swami allows me to, I'll see when I get one.

all oils are fatty acids..sorry and also Mg in tablets has no taste at all ..
btw... have you observed your liquid intake .......

and why not going for other solutions as flex seeds soaked... with less calorie intake ...

not meant as an affront at all from Isa

and os-chen...

as being an A and lactose intolerant and with constipation... the easiest here is to drink a bit of milk and so you're able to go..... this is a cheap laxative...

Against constipation prunes are too aggressive for me. They also have a great amount of sugar, which is never recommended. What works the best for this purpose is daily morning green juice made of fresh green vegetables in a home juicer. Celery stalks, unpeeled cucumbers, romaine lettuce leaves, parsley or cilantro, fresh spinach, and you may add half an apple, and other compliant greens, like kohlrabi or kale. This will cleanse the intestines fantastically, leave them free and strengthen them. If you don't have a juicer, I'd recommend that you get one - there are wonderful juicers in the market, especially the Breville (Australian) with the large opening, where with a couple of pushes you can obtain a full cup and more. The quantities are never exact - you choose according to taste, and after a while you will have some experience and know what ratios you prefer.
The important ingredients are celery stalks and unpeeled cucumbers (the dark green peel is very important). Use them every time. To these two you may add one or two or three or four other greens, again according to what you like. Cilantro is most important for chelation, and so is parsley. Romaine lettuce is excellent and makes the juice lighter. I'd suggest that you start with 3-4 celery stalks and 2-4 small cucumbers, a small handful of parsley or cilantro, 2-3 lettuce leaves, 2-3 kale leaves and/or a small handful of spinach, and see how much comes out and how it tastes. You may add half and apple, or quarter of a beet root.
I am B this had been given to me. I have same issue it is excellent. I have no clue about your blood type this is amazing I had started drinking prune juice; glued to the big white bowl

I find your post a bit confusing-- If you are a Warrior we are best with Turkey and fish-- Chicken is in the Genotype Book but not on my personal SWAMI, probably not on yours either.

On one hand you say meat gives you arthritis and heart pain that would be enough reason not to eat it. Then you say it never gave you a problem-- but you have been a vegetarian for 17 years? I am really confused--

Meat do you mean red meat?

then everyone started talking about constipation hijacked thread

You got confused, the meat thread was the previous one, this one is about Ibs constipation. But, I clarify. I became a vegetarian at 17, and then at about 25 I read EatRight4YourType and because it said chicken and turkey was ok, I started eating it again. Chicken was always my favorite as a child so I was reeeeeally glad!!

I have never had any problems like the ones I get with RED meat or any other than chicken and turkey as far as i know. At the age of 28 I eat red meat for about six months and the symptoms that i used to get as a teen, which you mentioned came back by much much stronger maybe because I'm older no idea. Of course I gave up again and everything came back to normal. If I've got fibromyalgia now is because of a car accident, an a whiplash/neck trauma. Ibs is just another common syndrome that usually goes with the fibro. Long explanation....yeah, well, maybe I'm too sensitive to what I eat, well, now extra sensitive, maybe I have always been. I got this problem with red meat since a was a child I didn't find the solution until I decided to become veg. I love fish though, I've never been a real veg. I have always eaten fish, couldn't live without it.

The thing now is that because I'm a warrior I am not supposed to eat chicken, I presume my swami will come with a black dot too with chicken but so far no sure...that's why I was checking with others to see what I can expect even if we are all different we are still the same genotype so I'm sure we share some similarities in out swami as well.

Just a day ago, I discovered if I combined my personal black dot - rice - with my beneficial beans, I got all bound up in 2 instances during 24 hours. So......even a vegan  could get bound up despite other veggie fiber. Constipation is an indication of the body rejecting one of the foods a person consumes, if it is not an issue of dehydration or lubrication of the gut. Or maybe --  our pounds of gut bugs are attracted to it and bind us up ......????

Brown rice speeds  things up for me, but white rice is like cement!  I find it hard to believe that in our suppposedly enlightened educated country, I didn't know about brown rice till I was in my 20s!
Beans don't work that well for me, but with brown rice, they do. (Since beans absorb toxins, maybe they were sitting there absorbing toxins from my intestines, not moving too fast!)

Did you eat white or brown rice?  I do believe that even some fiber foods may not work for some people. We are all so individual!

Brown, popped and formed into cakes   . I never even go around wanting rice, and I'm glad.
