Hi
I wondered if someone could please tell me as I am new to the diet.  I worked out that I am Gatherer (blood type o+, non secretor) and wondered if smoked salmon was OK to eat?
Thank you

I think it is healthier to NOT eat any smoked meats. ask yourself whether you would inhale the smoke?

I don’t consume the smoked salmon at home.  If I’m at as party and it’s served, I will indulge, but that doesn’t happen very often.

I love the taste and texture of a good smoked wild salmon, especially like my local fish market makes, using sea salt and brown sugar.  I would probably eat it once a year if I was at someone's house that was serving it.

But sugar is a Toxin/Avoid for me and smoked foods are clearly not healthy for us, so I'm not going to buy it.

The salmon part is good, the smoked part is not.

I don't buy it, except maybe once a year for a special treat. I may have it in a social setting if somebody else bought it.

When I was first easing into the diet, I didn't worry so much about those details- I cut out the "major avoids" and didn't yet worry about "imperfect forms of otherwise good foods." Then after a few weeks, I cleaned up my diet even more.

This has nothing to do with the topic but I have to say, salmon tastes THE BEST when pan fried in a cast iron skillet.  Some ghee, doused with fresh lemon juice and Himalayan sea sea salt, it's pure magic and super fast and easy to cook.

Just sayin'.

I used to do that a lot, but lately I've been hooked on sesame oil, garlic, tamari, and barley malt.
