Hi,
I have completed the BTD test and the genotype diet has been suggested as a better fit for my needs. I would like to know if I need to buy the genotype testing kit as well as the book, or does the book tell me everything I need to know? As a complete newbie any helpful info/tips would be appreciated. I am based in the UK, I am not sure if this is relevant.

i recommend the kit as it has tools that make it easier. there are prop strips to determine your taster status (a mark of metabolism), finger print ink, and a protractor to determine your jaw phase angle. there are also detailed instructions (a video online) and a chart that narrows things down fairly easily. the whole thing is a lot easier to follow than the book IMO. if you have any health issues, i really recommend a secretor test especially. not part of this test kit, but valuable info.

I think both books are the same perhaps one is hardback.

I would recommend the kit also.

But the best thing is the secretor test. it makes such a defference.

The paperback and hardback editions contain the same information. There are also some country specific editions.

I never bought the Genotype kit and was able to figure out my type with a lot of trial and error, measuring and re-measuring.  But it will be easier, more efficient and accurate with the kit.  I also agree with others who have suggested the Secretor Status as important.  

Another thing I will suggest (and I don't know if this is included in the kit) is a transparent ruler to use when measuring the fingers.  When the lengths are very close, it can be difficult to come up with the accurate measurements.  I finally had to use a clear ruler and measure my fingers on the palm side and that was much easier for me.

The palm side works better. I wish that was in the original instructions.

Thanks everyone, I now have to get my secretion status sorted out. I have not been able find out where I can get the test done (I'm in Kent, UK), so I have emailed the Dr for further information.

Yes I would agree on the transparent ruler to use when measuring the fingers if you are like me and they are super close in size.
