I am just jumping in...i know i'm O, a non-secreter, and a Gatherer. So...i am the type of person that if you go over it with me, tell me, write it out, etc. i'll be more successful. i'm considering meeting with a practitioner listed here on the site. wondering if it's worth my while and my dollar.
also, is SWAMI necessary for Genotype too, or just Blood Type? i'm a bit confused about if i should do one diet, the other, or a combo of each...i need some good guidance.
I SWAMI'd myself and was wrong about my genotype for 18 months so I wished I had seen someone to assure that I was following the right diet before I wasted so much time on the wrong one.....I was measured incorrectly..
See this as good, better, best.
Good would be to have the GTD book, get measured by someone and follow the diet as it's listed in the book.
Better would be to buy a SWAMIx and get a fine tuned personalized diet.
And still better would be seeing a practitioner with experience.
But the best would be someone who used a Professional SWAMI in their practice and could go a step further and include your specific health issues....issues that aren't part of the do-it-yourself SWAMIx intake form.
Depending on how much expertise a person has, whether they have the ability to use a professional SWAMI or the same one you can purchase yourself is what determines whether this will be cost effective for you or not.
Now that you already know your genotype, you don't want to follow the basic O blood type for a non secretor unless you choose to do so. I guess what I'm saying is that you want to choose one diet plan or the other. BTD or GTD

SWAMI is a combination of BTD and GTD. It's much more personalized than any of the "book diets" available. It takes your medical history plus the measurements you used to determine your genotype, and calculates a diet just for you.
I don't recommend trying to combine BTD and GTD on your own. I tried that myself, before getting a SWAMI. It took a lot of time, and while some foods were easy enough (the ones that were beneficial or avoid on both diets) I made a lot of "wrong choices" with the more confusing ones. I put a lot of my favorite foods on the "beneficial" list that SWAMI decided were black dots or avoids. For best results, you should pick a diet (BTD, GTD, or SWAMI) and stick with it.
There are two versions of the SWAMI program. There's SWAMI Xpress that you can fill in at home, and there's SWAMI Pro that requires a visit to a practitioner. SWAMI Xpress is less expensive, as it doesn't include the cost of an office visit, and you can make updates to it by yourself, without paying for another office visit. (Though some practitioners will make SWAMI adjustments for free via phone or email.)
There are a few advantages to SWAMI Pro. By having a trained professional fill out your SWAMI, you're much less likely to encounter measuring mistakes, misread fingerprint patterns, or otherwise make an error in a data field. There are also more data fields to fill out in the pro version; more room for human error (which is why the Xpress version doesn't have them) but also more room to individualize the diet.
Many SWAMI practitioners include a full exam with the SWAMI workup. If you're dealing with health problems, this visit is a chance for medical treatment besides the nutritional counseling. You may be prescribed supplements and/or other treatments in addition to the SWAMI printout. While some health problems will clear up with diet alone, others won't; so by starting out SWAMI with a naturopathic (or another non-allopathic modality) workup, you're getting a jump-start on your healing.
