Hi everyone.  Today from about lunch on I've had this weird shaky feeling I can't seem to get rid of.  It feels a lot like when I've not eaten enough, but I think I've had enough to eat today, and even after eating dinner tonight I still have it.  Any ideas about why?  I think I've had enough to drink today.

Have you been stressed? Adrenal issues can cause that. Blood sugar problems also can.

Are you detoxing caffeine and chemicals from cutting down on your diet coke habit?

I didn't make a connection between this and the diet coke/chemicals, but that sounds reasonable.  I know I just need to quit drinking it, but even cutting back has been tough, and that at only drinking 2 on a normal day before.  I make it until about 2 and then the craving for it gets really bad.  I think it probably is a craving for the caffeine, too, because coffee is an avoid for me now as well as black tea and soda, all of which I used to drink, especially black tea.

If you have to make a choice I would stick with black tea untill you kick nutra sweet. One addiction at a time.

I agree!  I'd take sugar over nutrasweet any day!  And tea caffeine over coke caffeine.

Even coffee would be a better choice than the diet coke! IIRC, coffee is neutral for B's and a "black dot" for Gatherers, making it a "less than perfect" choice but not "completely horrible for you." Tea is probably a better choice than coffee, but whatever you need to get you over the nutrasweet addiction is fine.

Both coffee and black tea are avoids for me per my SWAMI.  Its hard getting rid of it all at once, but I'm determined to do it.

Thanks for the help everyone!

How about this to help....Equal, aka, aspartame is directly linked to brain tumors in mice.
My mother ate it every day and developed a brain tumor and died from it.
If you need more motivation:

Nutrasweet is linked to stomach cancer. I'd get  a stomach ache when I used to try to use it.

Do you still have the feeling? Has it gone away? If it has, you can easily test any substances whose discontinuation coincided with the disappearance of the symptom, and then you'll have more evidence.

In response to above posts:
There are people who use any number of products / substances who develop brain tumors, versus people using the same substances who do not develop brain tumors, for instance. So don't get panicky as a result of this thread, either. Panic and hypervigilance are symptoms, too, and have their own causes.

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for all the help.  I do feel better today.  I started getting a little shaky about an hour after my workout, so I ate half of a protein bar and that seemed to head it off.  I also ate a piece of fruit with my lunch (before workout).

I think it was a combination of things, withdrawal from nutrasweet and caffeine.  Low blood sugar.  My body has been through a lot of adjustments in the last six weeks or so, I've pretty much completely changed my diet and workouts, and I probably have rushed a few things in my effort to be as compliant as possible with the diet recommendations.

I used to LIVE in carbs, so not having hardly any now is a big change.  I do still need some though, its just making sure I don't overdo, I can so quickly with bread because its a habit I'm breaking.

Anyway, thank you for all the help!

Yes later I got to thinking about low blood sugar. If you cook try using quinoa where you might use white rice. Quinoa is relatively low carb and has a lot of fiber. The right type of beans, sweet potatos, and winter squash are also good.

Caffeine and coffee give me the same feeling you describe.  It is low blood sugar.

B's esp. Dr. D has said somewhere are prone to hypoglycemia, but my dad is AB, so maybe i get this trait from him.  But it is caffeine and black coffee that do this to me.

Aisling - Low blood sugar does that to me. Also, when I was addicted to cola drinks, I would get that way if I didn't have one by 9:00 each morn. BTW - I can't remember if you are allergic to gluten or not, but if so, FYI, the book G Free Diet says there may be hidden gluten in the caramel color which is in a lot of cola drinks.

Both caffeine and diet soda can trigger your pancreas to make extra insulin NOW. That can result in the normal blood sugar being dropped artificially low, ie hypoglycemia.

MY EXPERIENCE with caffeine withdrawal was a long time ago..

I was able to give up SUDDENLY many of the pills that had much caffeine in them.. I was happy to do that, I had a new life and I was happy, yet my body cried for two months.. all over my vacation, while having dinner out, while having fun I was crying tears..

What somehow saved me was the knowledge that I was not loosing my mind.. I just did not know what was going on.. it was scary, I did some therapy I had to stop working after 90 minutes, I was a workaholic before.. ON my way to work or going home I had to take a nap 15 minutes into my 30 minute drive.. I mean short of nuts.. you better had not looked t me cross ways.. or I was in tears..

Nothing I did made sense.. nothing I did not do made sense.. I was a mess for 2 moth.. the suddenly it occurred to me that since I was not taking those meds I ought to at least look at what was in them.. caffeine stood out loud and clear..

I drank some extra coffee and was fine and over many years I weaned my body off the caffeine,, going at least to caffeine free coffee and whatever else I could think of doing in place of getting the results of the caffeine withdrawal..

I did not have the tell tale headaches from it as I was still drinking morning coffee.. but my body knew that something was dramatically different and crying all over that summertime fun time was it's way of telling me that when you take something away.. follow it and figure it out and reward your body for allowing you to know the difference..

the memory is still scary.. had I not FELT still normal, I would have thought I would go to the booby hatchery.. I mean it was scary..

so wean off the caffeine, or at least while you are kicking... whatever habits.. be good to YOU!..

No one will understand unless they understand from experience!  I understand just how you feel.. I am even today totally scared of that jittery feeling.. I still interpret it as food shortage... so I eat .. to much... to often .. anything to avoid that feeling..

but KNOWING what causes it will be half the issue.. all the best..

When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfectionBeing 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships

I did not know that!  I think this is exactly what happens to me for one.  Even diet cokes coke zeros give me that tingly feeling pretty bad.  And black coffee

Is that the sip right for your type tea on Dr. D'Adamo's site?

Get rid of all EMF's, especially when you sleep. (Wireless Internet is the strongest.) Do you live in an apartment building? In that case, that would be impossible.
