I went to the library and checked out the genotype book today and it looks like based on the measurements I've taken today I'm a good fit for Explorer.
So, based on this, what's the best place to start? Veteran Explorers, what are your tips for a newbie? Also, if any of you are taking supplements what do you recommend as your "go to" supplements, the ones you wouldn't be without?

I have a B- Explorer son and I give him grape seed extract. It's a primary ingredient in Dr. D's Explorer catalyst supplement. It's a very potent free radical scavenger/antioxidant. If we could afford Dr. D's genotype supplements for all of our various blood type/genotypes in our family we would purchase his, but aren't in a financial position to do that for everyone. I know many people rave about his supplements and I'm sure they're great.

Would you be able to afford the suggested supplements or are you on a tight budget?
In general, a good way to start is by using up (feeding to others) all the 'avoids' on your list and stocking up with 'beneficials'.
Try to find/ think of alternative foods for favourite dishes. Find a some treats & snacks that are compliant, so when you are 'down' you are not tempted to eat something that is 'bad' for you. Think of dishes that are easily transported for when you need to bring your food for whatever reason (i.e. work lunches). Think of dishes you can whip up in 5 min for when you are in a rush. Maybe pre-cook and freeze something to have handy.

I am not explorer.. but I started by just eating what I like from the Beneficial list.. and then started to feel better.. keep doing that and all will sort itself out soon enough.. welcome..
Look around here and see what you find.. click on all the store links above.. much fun to learn.. most items are listed for BTD, but you still will learn.. good luck..
Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!
In my opinion Explorers more often benefit from doing a SWAMI.
I say this because the generic Explorer diet has every blood type in it and therefore has less blood type expression elements in it than one of the other GenoTypes. It's hard to put together a diet suitable for both A's and O's!
If it is within your budget and commitment, I heartily recommend the SWAMI for all who type out as Explorer. Swami may in fact change your Genotype to something else once it has all the information!

Hello! Thanks for the welcome!
I started using BTD about six weeks ago, and in those six weeks have been feeling better. In the mean time I have been reading, studying, learning. There is a quiz on the website "which diet is better for you?" and for me it says genotype, so I thought maybe I'd work my way towards that. I think that might be because I have low thyroid.
Hmm, about me, I'm trying to think what would be useful! I am a 37 year old female. I am a homeschooling mom, so eating out/work is not much of an issue for me for which I am thankful, I am able to cook virtually all my meals. Time is sometimes an issue due to the activities my children are in after we finish school, more so for lunch than dinner, most nights we are home. I have exercised most of my life but in the last few years quit. Starting BTD has given me energy to start again, I am 4 workouts/week in for the last five weeks straight! I would like to lose weight, about 25 pounds. I could afford some supplements, probably not all, so I guess I'm looking for if I had to pick one or two what would give me the most bang for my buck!
After 10 years on the Blood Type Diet and 3 1/2 years on the Genotype Diet, while taking many of the fine D'Adamo supplements, I agree that an investment in the SWAMI gives more bang for the bucks.
I benefited a lot from the previous years, but the SWAMI is the most individualized program that I'm aware of, and it fits me so well. My body feels like it is able to get younger because there is such a reduction of internal stresses on my health
And, welcome, Aisling!

I was good with the BTD. I didn’t do well on the Explorer diet. I do great on the Swami. I highly recommend it.
