Hi, I've had some problems. A long story to read, sorry...! I haven't been compliant to my SWAMIed diet, but I think the big problems are that I haven't done sports with sweat and I have wrong balance, too few veggies and absolutely too much for example raw chocolate. The smaller problem is in my opinion that I also have eaten some avoids a little.
But I had winter eczema in my hand (not palm) third time, but in this year it didn't go away in the spring. Firstly I had entero virus and soon after that the skin fragmented. I may have gained inflammation caused by bacteria but I'm not totally sure yet. Skin is pink and has leaks, more or less, and they usually make some scabs.
I've tried many fats, Regulat, ozonized olive oil and palma rosa essential oil mixed with other oils... but nothing really heals that. So I have heard and now believe that one big problem is my liver. Too few exercise and too much snacking.
So I already had antibiotic drops into my eye which was inflamed, too, and that got better though I'm not sure is it totally healed either. But I haven't eaten antibiotics because of my skin problem. Maybe I should, this is taken already so much time - 2 months with leaking hands.
I try to drink many herb infusions and tinctures - dandelion, nettle, goldenrod, marigold, birch leaf, Lady's mantle, yarrow, horsetail (boiled) and so on...
But my main question is that is it good in my situation to do Overnight Detox completely? -5 portions apple juice -2 tbsps lemon juice (I'm not sure is there some allergy at apple or citrus fruits) +2 tbsps olive oil -castor oil pack
"followed by a good sweat" -> sauna? or som exercise? |

I thought the detox was for Explorers. Make sure your eczema is not caused by a vitamin/mineral deficiency linked to your Genotype. See if mold, fungus or dust mites are lurking in your environment and kill them. If you detox do it the night before a day where you can stay home, in case the results leave you weak and needing rest. |

To answer your main question: It is my understanding that while the detox is presented in the Explorer section of the book, any Genotype can modify it to be useful.
To treat some of the lesser questions - The closer you get to 100% compliance to all of the SWAMI recommendations, the better you will ultimately feel. What many people don't realize is that healing is not always a pleasant experience, depending on what needs to heal. You may experience some undesirable effects from eating and exercising perfectly, so it is best to work within the abilities of the body to cope with the changes. |

I did it but without a proper heat source. So I haven't seen anything like green blobs today morning... can the test be redone at once the next day...? |

Using a castor oil pack over your liver is safe to do as often as you'd like. I wouldn't suggest doing the juice/oil detox more than about once a month. |

It would perhaps be a better idea to sort the problem out from within by simply eating more compliantly, stopping the chocolate and other avoids. most skin issues I come across get better with less sugar of any kind including too much juice. it also doesn't usually take more than a week to ease the problem, usually much faster once you have the food right. in the mean time coconut oil seems to be the least problematic soothing oil. once you are one a proper diet. and things look better perhaps look at stopping the antibiotics and getting you gut fixed from that assault also. so avoid diary, wheat and sugar....and that usually includes chocolate but also avoid sunflower oil. |

Well, chocolate is not an avoid according to D'Adamo's recommendations for me. I'll do a milk pack - I am taking a towel and dip in into organic whole milk, and putting it on my liver... I've heard it smells horrible in the morning EDIT: But why didn't it? Well, I'll do it again tonight. |

Castor oil penetrates deep into the skin thanks to its molecular mass, which is low enough to penetrate into the stratum corneum Think about it |

Castor oil can be found with the "massage oils" in some health food stores, as well as with the "laxatives" in some pharmacies.
If you're allowed apple juice, you can follow the detox exactly as it's outlined in the book, no matter what your genotype. Since I have apple juice as an "avoid"; I don't do this detox. |

According to Julia Chang, "The purpose of drinking apple juice is mainly for the malic acid in apple juice. Malic acid is a good solvent for stagnant bile in the liver. Apple juice taken during fasting would dissolve and push out stagnant bile in the liver. For someone with yeast infection, apple juice can be replaced by malic acid in capsule or powder form. The fasting procedure is the same except that apple juice is replaced by 1000 - 2000 mg of malic acid taken with 2 glasses of warm water." (Read the whole page at her site if you have time.)

I don't know why apple is an avoid for you. If it were the malic acid, that would be interesting to say the least. I don't have a specific reason to think that that is why, however. There is malic acid available that is pure enough that I would not be concerned about trace levels of avoids for the purpose of doing the flush. Even if the malic acid turned out to be an avoid, treating it as a black dot for these purposes would be my approach if I felt I would benefit from the flush. Life is full of trade-offs. It may even work to do the flush without the malic acid. |

This is what I was wondering... I cannot do juices of any kind (too much sugar) & don't even seem to tolerate citrus at all If I just ate light one day & simply did the castor oil & heat pack would it be worth trying? |

This is a detox so ingesting an avoid for the sake of the detox would probably be a fine option.
As for your skin get some unpasteurized butter and eat it-- Dr. d recommended 2 oz a day and some curcumin.

From what I have read on this subject, which is quite a lot, the whole idea of the apple juice or malic acid is to soften the stones/grit or whatever that will come out of your liver/gallbladder, not softening them can be problematic. It is not for nothing that many advise a 6 day period of juicing. I'm pretty sure that a castor pack will do little harm on it's own. but if so many people advise to do a juice or malic acid fast for a day or more. it would make sense to use that knowledge. explorer do the apple juice other's malic acid, pear juice, cranberry juice or what ever floats your boat even gold coin grass and even apple cider vinegar but do your own research to cover all the odds. |

I get dermatitis off and on and am loving zinc oxide. I also love Dr. Bronner's bar soaps. So, a combo of cleaning with Dr. Bronner's bar soap, a slather of coconut oil and then zinc oxide as spot treatment cleared all of my dermatitis and acne problems I have. Of course, having my diet just so helps. I am very limited (a lot more than is suggested in SWAMI) so my "cheats" happen more than I like but there is only so much I can do. I am fully dairy, gluten, soy and nightshade free all the time. |

Gardengirl, I feel your dietary pain. I am not even sure that I will grow vegetables next summer. Nightshades are my faves.
Well, on second thought, the kale, lettuce, basil, cilantro, parsley, garlic, chili peppers, zucchini would be missed. I have only 3 kinds of kale. Maybe I'll have space for kales...... |

Ha ha Prunella, I didn't even know there were three kinds of kale! Yeah, I will shop for seeds early this year and reconfigure my garden too. Lots of garlic for next year! Nightshades are a favourite of mine too. I am having the most difficult time with those - giving them up, that is. |
