Looking for cultured foods to replace the cultures I would normally get in my Goat's milk yogurt and miso. Any suggestions for cultured foods for Teacher Genotype that are not dairy or legume related? Thanks will also check out recipe section of D'adamo's site. Don't want to spend the money on Swami.

I use miso made from barley, not from soy. As barley is a grain (and a neutral for A), that should work for you. |

Barley has gluten in it and so I use the rice miso. Barley is an SWAMI avoid for me. |

[W]hat brand of miso have you found that contains rice but no soybeans? . . .
Hi Victoria, South River Miso Company makes a variety of specialty misos, both with and without soybeans. For example, they make an Azuki Bean Miso and a Chickpea Miso, both of which contain brown rice but no soy. Here's the link to their index page: |

Thanks Conor. Any all-rice miso brands out there? I've not found one. |

C_sharp or Lola, do you know if Miso that was rice only, would be rated the same as Miso currently is in our food lists? Or is it something else besides the soybeans that directs the rating?
Typebase describes Miso as being from soybeans, with maybe the addition of another grain. |

A key component of any miso, even the non-soy ones, is the Aspergillus oryzae fungus (a/k/a kōji in Japanese) which aids in the fermentation process. Given that various bacteria, fungi/molds, yeasts, et cetera, are blood type specific, this could possibly be a contributing factor to miso's rating in TYPEbase 4. |

Yeah, that's what I would love to know, because I really miss miso - haven't eaten it in more than a decade but it used to be a staple food for me. |

Victoria, while I didn't find anything with a quick search that directly related to blood type specificity, i.e., Type B, maybe these links will give you some food for thought and lead to more in-depth information ... P.S. One other thing I did notice is that Polyflora "A" does contain Aspergillus oryzae in its base compound, whereas Polyflora "B" does not. It [B] consists of a blend of Saccharamyces cerevisae, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactobacillus sporogenes probiotics in a base of larch arabinogalactan, Rice-derived tocotrienols and dahlia tuber (Dahlia inula) prebiotics. For me, this is a red flag that Aspergillus oryzae is neither in Polyflora "B" nor Polyflora "O" (and, actually, it's not in Polyflora "AB" either). |

Thanks for this! It's very relevant and especially Dr. D's choice of cultures for each blood type is informative in a big way. |
