First off, I am new to this forum and new to the books but, since reading them I cannot seem to get off of this site! So much information here! Anyway, I did the genotype testing in the book for myself and hands down had no problem with the diagram in the back determining what type I fit into. Even Dr. D's description of the type fits me to a T! I was so enthusiastic and curious that I measured the hubs too. Only I hit a snag. He is either a Warrior or Teacher. In the book it asks for family history of cancer, etc. He does not know his family history for some reason. So, the problem is this, we have no access to SWAMI anything, nor will we for some time. He tests evenly between the two! He gets a score of 11 for Warrior and 11 for Teacher!! Anyone have any ideas on how to get past that? I have read the descriptions of both and have my opinion but, am looking for a more seasoned opinion on how to figure out where he fits. Thanks so much for your help! |

I tested as an A- Explorer from the book, but the strength tests showed I was a pretty even mix between Warrior and Explorer, with also a couple Teacher strengths. SWAMI made me 40% Warrior. I'm wondering why you you can't get a SWAMI for your husband? Anyway, before I got my SWAMI, I made my own list of all the foods listed in the Warrior and Explorer charts and put the individual ratings next to each food. It's obviously easy to know what to eat and what not to eat when foods are rated similar or the same, but when there were opposite extremes (one avoid and one superfood) I would simply average it out to Neutral. As it turned out, many of the Warrior superfoods that were listed as avoid or black dots for Explorer remained superfoods on my SWAMI. Perhaps my percentage of Warrior is much higher than Explorer even though I originally thought they were pretty equal. SWAMI does determine a persons genotype on much more information than the book does. Also, I did get a few Teacher "bonuses" on my SWAMI even though my basic measurements don't reflect the genotype. If you've noticed in the book, Teachers have a longer list of superfood Dairy products than Warrior does. My SWAMI gave me a few "surprise" dairy products that I would not have had if I strictly followed the book.
I wouldn't worry about your husbands not knowing his family history of cancer. The number of whorl fingerprints would be indication enough of his risk of future cancers. By the way, where do you live in the midwest? We live near the twin cities. |

We can't afford a SWAMI right now. We have two special needs boys, not physical needs but, neurological. Which is in part what led me to learning all of this! Anyway, hubs is the only one that works and I stay with the boys and take them to therapies, doc appts. etc. The oldest, among a host of things, has a lot of anxiety with strangers and you have to work him up to having people watch him even. We've taken on my little sis's boys part time as well who, like my boys have food protein intolerances, outright food allergies and sensitivities as well. So, between medications for my oldest son (which I hope to eventually get him off of) and the special dietary requirements, money is tight! I hadn't thought to compare diets really. I might have to do that and see what pops up! Thanks for the idea. As for the whorls, he has only 1, so no worries there really. We live a little further south, in eastern Nebraska. |

use only the advanced calculator in the book knowing the bloodtype
if still trapped between two, swami will definitely compute the best fit |

Thanks Lola. I think SWAMI is going to be the only way to figure his out! I did use the one in the back for him. I even did my mother's via phone with her friend and all that is left is waiting for her to find out her bloodtype but, even without it, just using the basic one and strength testing among the few of them, it's obvious what she is. Though I am still waiting just to make sure. He's just a hard guy to figure out! |

I also used the advanced calculator. Basic or intermediate calculators are meant for people who cannot use the advanced calculators and they often confuse the types. But the measurements need to be accurate to a millimeter! If your index finger is longer than the ring finger in one hand and ring finger longer in another, then your are more or less teacher type! |

Hi, Warriors have a few arch finger prints that identifies them. I have two on each hand. Also a long head is indicative of a Warrior in many cases. How does he do eating a lot of dairy, like cheese? Warriors don't do well on cheese. Teachers can incorporate more cheese into their program. I can only have paneer, cottage, and farmers. If he looks at the diets, which one looks more like the way he would eat? I was drawn more to the Warrior diet before I went to see Dr. D. He can just follow the A diet and do very well if you can't decide for now. |

Hubs does have a few arches. I can't remember if his head was longer or not off hand. As far as eating goes, the man eats anything and everything and other than being either constipated or the opposite, he does not seen overly affected by them. Wish I was so lucky! |

I will take his measurements again to be sure, since I seemed to have tossed them when I was done! Thanks for the response! |

Junebug, Teachers have shorter lower leg lengths and longer torsos than warriors. Warriors have long faces/heads. Teachers have visible tendons on wrists(mine really pop, even on my ankle/shins). Not all teachers have whorls...I have only arches and loops! |

Me too, no whorls only one arch and loops. Not all Teachers are short either, I'm 5'8". My DD1 is a Warrior, I wouldn't call her face long exactly, it's more of a nice oval, she also has very long legs. |

Give us the strength tests, measurements, health problems, and family history of health problems. The board can act like a dumb swami, if the information is pretty clear. Sometimes it is hard to tell. |

I have very visible tendons, an ectomorph with long legs & oval face and all ulnar loop fingerprints on fingers which are identical length on both sides. My swami used the long legs as a deciding factor. But I typed myself as a teacher from the book & my swami includes a lot of the foods from the teacher & warrior list (all the things i really enjoy so that was easy to adjust to ) so I might be an almost even blend of both types??? |

Mayflowers used to have a photo posted of herself standing with Dr. D'Adamo. The shape of both their faces are very typical Warriors, very long faces.
Junebug, I like doing the finger measurements on the palm side of the fingers, instead of down the sides of them. If you use a transparent ruler, it's much easier to be exact. |

I feel like a mix of the two myself (teacher and warrior) as I don't have a long head/face, I'm very short etc. but some of the stuff recommended on the Teacher diet just doesn't jive with me (such as all that dairy) so Warrior makes the most sense to me overall. Not for just that reason but it really fails to matter anyway (or so I'm told) once you start SWAMI (which I'm personally planning on doing soon). Just seems like it can get confusing otherwise (for some people). But if you don't have access to SWAMI (like I don't right now) I'd suggest just using common sense such as my example with the dairy. Listening to your body helps. |

Lets see...he does not know his family history of anything. Be it cancer, depression, etc. The strength testing, I can't remember offhand what his score was nor the head measurements I had for him, right now. Health problems...the man other than bathroom issues, he may pick up colds (which never seem to really affect him) but, he never gets sick or goes down! Very rarely, he'll literally get "sick" in like an hour, he'll drop, spike a fever, have chills and by nightfall he's fine. I mean totally fine. In our 10yrs together, I can't recall him every really being sick or having any kind of health issue. The only thing that seems to get to him ever is occasionally during the winter, his toes and fingers get super cold, they will take on an almost blue shade on a super rare occasion. I don't have his measurements on me at the moment and he's at his work anyway but, I remember being shocked because as much as I am asymmetrical, his measurements are very symmetrical. If I remember correctly, his legs, upper and lower, on both sides were the same measurement. His legs were most definitely longer than his torso. Both ring fingers on both hands are longer, though that was hard to get a measurement because he has slightly webbed fingers. He is tall and lanky, like a cross between an ecto and mesomorph body type. You can easily see muscles, tendons, etc. through the skin. Off the top of my head, his fingerprints are mostly arches though, with 1 whorl and he did have 1 or 2 loops. He is type A+ and can drink caffeine like it's water! I will have to check the numbers when we're both home together just to makes sure. |

Victoria, you are a genius! I might have to do that for him. I mentioned just above this, he has slightly webbed fingers. So, getting that measurement took forever and drove me nuts! Thanks for the tip! |

raw warrior, I am a teacher that cannot tolerate most dairy! My swami only gives me manchego, ghee and yogurt as superfoods! I am also one of those teachers that does not tolerate much soy! I used to have a small amount of soy milk in my coffee but found out it was causing me more phlegm. I eat tiny amounts of roasted soy nuts twice a week...thats it! |

Junebug, His leg lengths...bet he is a warrior. Teachers may be tall or short but their lower legs are shorter and their torsos are longer than their legs. Ex; My O hunter hubby is 6'2" with a short torso and long legs. His lower legs look like stilts! now as his opposite...I have a long torso with short legs, the lower leg being the shortest. I am 5'5". When we sit down side by side, our heads are equal!!! Nice picture, Mayflowers! Good one of both of you. |

As soon as you can, do swami! I am a Teacher like cajun and nothing at all like cajun! Cheese is my favorite food and swami gives me: Colby Cheese Edam Cheese Ghee, Clarified Butter ◊ Gouda Cheese Gruyere Cheese Jarlsberg Cheese Manchego Cheese ◊ Muenster Cheese Parmesan Cheese ◊ Pecorino Cheese ◊ Romano Cheese ◊ Yogurt
as superfoods and more as neutrals: Brie Cheese Butter Emmenthal, Swiss Cheese Feta Cheese Gorgonzola Cheese Milk, Buttermilk Monterey Jack Cheese Provolone Cheese. |

Interesting. When I did the strength tests, I came out equal for both (warrior and teacher) on the ones I could answer. Once I get SWAMI, I'll do more precise measuring. I digest soy milk fine myself but I don't eat/drink soy any more as I'm sort of paranoid about it lol. Anyway, so many exceptions to the rules! SWAMI really is the best way to go it would seem. To the OP - I'm wondering if it might make more sense for him to just stick with the Type A (assuming he is Type A) diet for now until you're able to get SWAMI. Just a suggestion. |
