In the last year or so I think I've developed an almond addiction. I like to eat about a jar of nut butter per week. This would be a few tablespoons too much according to the portions but I am underweight. |

O's can so easily develop addictions to a lot of things... If it's just a few tbs too much per week & you are underweight what are your concerns - unless eating this you are eating more nuts in preference to diamond meats etc? |

More beef protein and beef as breakfast will do you good. We had another O who was under weight who started ERFYT and added much more Protein to her diet. Slowly but surely she added the pounds until she was no longer underweight! |

keep a food diary, it helps to avoid addictions, plan what you eat on weekly basis, that might help. |

From what I've read if you eat almonds that are not roasted they have extremely high levels of phytates.
I think phytates act as anti-nutrients and will inhibit vitamin and mineral absorption. Something to keep a watch on if being underweight is an issue.
If eating them roasted, you should be fine.
Raw Brazil nuts and raw cacao and extremely high in phytates as well.
As a precautionary measure I don't eat too many nuts but if I do they are always roasted. |

I eat a ton of meat and sardines also. Decided this week to lay off the nut butter and buy nuts in bulk instead. I intend to eat them all of course. |
