When I started the the diet 6 weeks ago, I was completely compliant. But today I just couldn't help myself, I ate one of the small bag's of dill pickle chips..... I never thought that they would effect my like they did. It was within 15 mins, I had instant cramps, bloating, stomach rumblings and Brain fog. Before I never had this kind of issue with potato chips, but my body sure told me what it thought of my choice. It is amazing how quickly you body will adjust to the proper foods and let you know what it doesn't need. After this, the next time I have a craving for something I shouldn't have, I will remember this aweful experience and have a banana instead. |

I had some root chips two days ago and I was cramping within half hour and throwing up an hour later. Besides this little experiment, I am getting much better at this! |

My stomach is hurting like crazy from eating an ounce of compliant cheese an hour ago because I forgot to take a Lactaid until AFTER I ate it. I don't know why it is so easy to forget when I know very well what is going to happen! For some reason I can get away with forgetting it when I eat cottage cheese. It is amazing how our bodies react so violently when we forget or just plain out mess up! Maybe I need to go and eat some cottage cheese to see if my stomach will forget about this slip up! |

Yes, we become less tolerant to avoids with time on BTD. I have discovered that too. Sooner or later it begins to sink in that the pain is not worth it. I am thick headed but even I'm beginning to learn. Hope you feel better by now. |

I am feeling better now, still not 100%. But I am not rolling on the floor moaning and groaning. Will not be doing that again for awhile. |

a little off topic to orignal post, but I love my cranberry raisons on my salads, has anyone found any that don't have sunflower oil in them. This is one thing that I have been really missing. If I had some I am sure that I wouldn't have resorted to potato chips. |

I don't mind sour but I sure do love my cranberries, it is a nice added touch to my salad. Thanks C-sharp for those links. Looks like there is hope for me getting cranberries again. I tried drying my own and ended up with gravel, hard little nuggents of tastless |

I have cranberries from Eden Organic that are organic everything and are sweetened with apple juice. They used sunflower oil which is a black dot for me. Product of Canada. Can't remember if I got them from Vitacost.com or nutsonline.com. I eat about ten of them every day. I have cranberries in the freezer but haven't gotten around to making up a recipe for them that I can beat out some of the sour!! Cranberries are absolutely wonderful. |

Our bodies get tired of sending signals all the time so sometimes they give up and let the problem build inside us until the condition becomes chronic. It is difficult to convince some people that this diet is good for them because they say they don’t want to give up _______ because they’re never had distress from eating it. |

It isn't "sprinkle-able" like raisins, but I make a compote of equal parts cranberries, blueberries and figs. It is still pretty tart, but usable for a condiment or side dish. With a little creativity, a small portion could be made into a salad dressing. |

It is so hard isn't it. I've started a bottle of Walnut essence to help with compliance- just feel like over the last few years there's been too many suggestions about this or that that I have unwittingly listened to. Well, no more. |

Maybe a little honey along with the cranberries in a dressing with other ingredients would be something I could try, Joe! Thanks! |

I have to say that I am so glad that this message board is here, if I tried to do this diet without it, I would go crazy. Everyone has such great ideas and I learn more and more everyday about what my body is actually doing. I will have to try the honey idea for my cranberries, maybe that will also help them from drying out completely and turning in rocks, since honey is also a humectant. |

There's a great cranberry bread or muffin recipe (I think it is Ribbit's) in the recipe section...It uses cranberries & raisins... |

In my experience as a hypersensitive Nonnie - it's usually when a small trace of an "avoid" food works its way into your diet unseen that you succumb the next day to a bigger portion of an avoid. Like produces like. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just be diligent. |

I had eczema on my hands about 6 years ago and had Genzray treatments and it went away. That was before I started this diet. Now whenever I eat something that is an avoid several of my fingers start itching and break out within a half hour. So, that is my clue that I ate something I shouldn't have. Now that I realize I'm a Non and read the Live Right book, I am adjusting my diet. A few weeks ago I ate some fresh tomatoes with mozzarella and basil and within an hour broke out in hives all over my midsection. They went away in a couple hours. I never have had trouble with tomato's before but now know I can't have cheese. I though the tomato's might have had pesticides on them, as I am really susceptible to chemicals. I'm keeping an eye on tomato's but don't really need to have them. I am really enjoying the forum and am getting educated. |
