Umeboshi plum vinegar is a superfood condiment for Hunters. I've noticed some good things from using it and am wondering why there is not more written about its healing properties for things we Hunters suffer from like celiac. |

I have some (umeboshi vinegar) at home and use it sometimes, but can't say I've noticed anything specific in terms of health breakthroughs - not that I really use it enough (like daily) to notice such things. Have you had good experiences with it? If so, what have you noticed it helping with in terms of your health, well-being etc?
Thanks, just curious to hear when other Hunters have had success with foods!
All the best

Yes I have noticed a great improvement in my bowels from using ume. I go through a bottle very quickly. Really, try it- it's not very expensive. The macrobiotic people know about ume plum but it seems no one else does. |

Thanks Sahara, I'll try and make more use of it. It's in my cupboard and I forget it's there often to be honest. Perhaps I'll move it out onto the shelf with my EVOO and Rice Bran Oil etc so I see it and remember to use it more.

I considered trying it, but only found expensive options available to me. |

Hmm I could swear I paid less than $3 for my last bottle, but it was a little bottle. |

The co-op I think. Could have been one of the chains. It was a little mini size, I went right through it. I think it is worth paying for the full size because of how it enhances vegetables and salad especially. Use ume with parmesan for an extra salty/savory taste. |

If it's recommended by the macrobiotic diet, then there must be some health benefits to umeboshi, too. Those people are hardcore. I heard they chew 100 times. |

Yes..... The macrobiotic people say umeboshi is good for the liver. It is probably an all around digestive aid, certainly something all Hunters would want to use. |

I bought a bottle awhile ago but have yet to use it. I was shocked at the sodium content, 1050 mg per TEASPOON! I thought maybe it was naturally salty but the ingredients are Ume plum, beefsteak leaf (shiso) and sea salt.
It's a reputable brand, Eden foods.
Is anyone else concerned about the salt content? It's much higher than tamari or any other condiment I have seen. I would like to use it, but this is putting me off and I am not a person who is concerned with salt intake.

I picked up the big size yesterday. It was $4. I think it has medicinal effects though and is worth it. Also, might be good for people who are wondering how to get their kids to eat vegetables and salads etc. |
