I fermented some kale and it developed an odd sediment that is the color of nutritional yeast.  I've fermented kale before, the one thing i did differently this time was to mash the kale with a potato masher.  Does anyone know if this is ok to eat?, i'm kind of skeptical of eating it since i'm not sure if it came out right or not.

Thanks!

Well I'm usually one who throws caution to the wind, but when it cones to bacteria I'd rather be safe than sorry. If I get a feeling that something may be wrong, or I'm confused (unsure) I would not consume it.

It's your call though, especially if you're familiar with the fermentation process. Try Googling it if you haven't already.

Thanks Lola and Starpine!!!

Lola,
Yes i did wash it before.  One thing that i used differently this time that i forgot to mention is celtic sea salt.  I looked at the salt and the sediment has kind of the same color but the color is alittle deeper.  Do you think the salt may have caused this?.

Starpine,
I did try googling it before i realized that the celtic sea salt may have contributed to the sediment.  Now i'll try googling whether the celtic sea salt can cause this.
