I quit the Genotype diet a couple of years ago and was just doing various versions of Paleo, yeah I got sucked into the hype. Late last summer I started adding raw dairy products and had mild tonsillitis in November and severe tonsillitis last week after having whey protein and cheese and yogurt several times everyday.I also had the flu this winter.I haven't been sick this much in many, many years. When I was young I suffered from major sinus infections for 12 years that 100% cleared up for a decade when I removed dairy. I've never had tonsillitis before and I'm pretty certain it was from the dairy,I hope so. I never want to repeat that painful, frightening illness so I'm back on the Genotype diet with full compliance! Pain is a harsh teacher but the lesson is not soon forgotten. I am definitely a Hunter, 100% fit the profile and measurements. |

Pain is also a powerful motivator... Sorry that you lost focus, but glad you remembered what felt good. |

I grew up with tonsillitis, got my tonsils removed at 7. I believe colds are linked to sugar and wheat intake- carbs generally. I got through the season with only really half a cold. |

Thanks everybody.
I've looked at the Swami but I dont really understand the advantage over the Genotyping that I already did, especially since I could be a poster boy for Hunter.
Thanks for the links but to be honest all but the first one is over my head. |

Swami definitely intrigues me but I have no clue as to my ancestry and that seems like a biggie. I've been thinking of doing 23andme to gain some insight. |

I'm sorry you got so sick, but I'm glad you found your way back to GTD!
SWAMI is great for people who don't do well on any of the "book diets"; either BTD or GTD. If you're doing well on the Hunter diet in the book, then there's no real need for you to get a SWAMI right now. But it's good for you to know that this product exists, in case you feel the need to tweak your diet in the future. You may find that you heal to a certain point on the Hutner diet, but a few health problems remain unresolved. That would be the time to invest in a SWAMI. |

about 5 days after finishing my anti biotics(cefdinir failed then azithromycin) I got hit with a wicked bout of GERD and have had gastritis for 3 weeks..UGH!frustrating!
I haven't had stomach/heartburn problems in years,I'm thinking its from the anti biotics. Its getting better but very slow, usually just feels like a lump in my throat and like I want to belch and sometimes mild burning.Lower intestines and elimination are great, its all in the upper part of my GI.
I'm taking POlyflora,Deflect, licorice, slippery elm, bentonite, bladderwrack and pepto bismol for 2 weeks. Whats the deal with enzymes, are they not recommended? |

I think trying a good enzyme would be fine.....also what about Gastro-D? You may already be doing this, but what about upping your dose of Polyflora and making sure you take it on an empty stomach?
Grateful for antibiotics when you need them, but they sure can wreak havoc! |

Pepto Bismol may be doing more harm than good. It will take some time to rebuild the gut flora after 3 weeks of anti-biotics. You could double the Polyflora use for a week to stimulate recovery - it won't hurt you. Many people get adequate enzymes from fresh vegetables and fruits, so don't need to supplement here. If you haven't been able to eat adequate fresh foods, then it may be of benefit to add some enzymes... |
