I think caffeine in general results in hypoglycemia like feelings for me. I broke down today when i met a friend at cc's coffee house, and got an iced vanilla coffee (also contained milk, which i have not drank in a very long time). Since they were free refills, my dumb self got a second. All evening i have felt tingly and had the symptoms of low blood sugar i read about online on various sites.
Has anyone else experienced this type of thing when drinking higher amounts of caffeine? I am sure for some, it would take a lot more caffeine to do this than it would for me. I had been free of coffee for two months, but still was drinking black tea. I want to stop drinking coffee and black tea completely, since they both are toxins for my gt. |

coffee os a drug.. why are we so incisting that we should have it? I am a example of such thinking for many years.. they say 1 cup is good for some, well one cup leads to others, so why /// just asking.. I for one when i drink coffee for every cup or mug even weak - drive 5 miles faster.. immagin if I drank the stuff they are hooking up all the yappies? and the price.. used to be 5 cents, or free, or endless refills.. just asking.. and the stuff we have to put in it just to make it more drink-able, and the cakes that go with it just to make it socially ac ceptable? why even drink it after a perfectly satisfying meal when we are stuffed already///?? |

Yes for me. Just wanted to let you know also that as an experiment I have on three occasions tested my blood sugars and on the days that I had a few small ounces of decaf even, my blood sugars at night were about 20 mm/dl higher than normal. I too had read this can happen and it does for me. Coffee is out now, though I do miss it terribly. Going on vacation in a few weeks and I'm scared I'll cave... ' |

Interesting about the milk/coffee. Many years ago when I drank cafe latte which I loved I would often feel a bit jittery after it. Don't remember feeling tingly but suspect it messed with my sugar. I don't drink either now. Lin |

Play like an alcoholic I knew... His mindset was, "I can wait til later to have it..." He had gone 20 years putting off his next drink until "later". |

Here's a suggestion. I buy Dandelion Root in tea bags from Traditional Medicinals and carry a few in my purse at all times. I always offer to pay for the hot water but most places give it to you for free. I tell them I have multiple food allergies and have to be very cautious. It is also great for the liver. |

No doubt, caffeine is a baddie for the blood sugar. I don't even drink caffinated tea. Thankfully, I have found rooibos tea that tastes robust but without the evil caffeine. |

I am careful to drink small amounts only after a meal. But a full cup on an empty stomach gives me symptoms of hypoglycemia. |
| My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer. |

Well, I have a different experience with coffee than many of you. I have cut back to one a day, refusing to cut it out altogether, because I like it, and it is good for me (A), but even when I was having more than this I was well able to control my blood sugars (for past three and a half years since diabetic diagnosis). Clearly we are all different. |

I am not a coffee drinker, but like to sip from my husband's soy latte (I like the foam ) occasionally. It does not mess up my hypoglycemia, but it induces cravings for sweets. Very dehydrating. |

the first and last time I ordered a green tea latte at an airport once, I had to spit out that first sip!!! it was soooooooooooooooooo sweet!!!
and I ordered it plain, unsweetened!!! it was a soy late, before I knew my secretor status
so I settled for plain green tea point! |
