Statistically there is aprox. 20% non-secretors. But it seems like percentage of this forum is somehow higher. Another thing is that women prevail. Which is a good thing and one of the forum clues It's interesting to see the distribution though, especially how is selector status linked to gender and blood. At least among forum community. Let's see how it evolves. |

In general, women post on message boards more than men. So it's logical that we'll see more women on the poll than men.
It's logical that nonnies have more health issues, and are more likely to turn to diet for answers. A healthy secretor with no obvious reactions to their curent diet isn't likely to find BTD. Also, nonnies are more likely to "not do well" on the BTD "by the book" and post here asking for help.
A type O secretor who sees dramatic results just from cutting down on a few avoids may never go any further with the diet- never implementing BTD 100% and never posting here. They might even get that information from some other source than Dr D'Adamo. For example, a type O might stumble upon low-carb dieting, cut out or down on wheat, potatoes, and corn by default, and see great health results. That individual would stop looking for a better diet, and won't be posting in this poll. |

Worldwide non-secretors could be about 15%. On the board non-secretors could be 85% (or at least the most vocal 85%) |

agreeance that nonnies would recognize heath issues / digestive issues being related to food and diet and so go looking for answers.
For years i wished food came in little capsules so that wouldn't have to worry about digesting it, per se. |

Im quite happy with O- secretor and my Hunter/Swami. Lots of foods that I enjoy and can easily obtain. A great fit for me. Looking at the poll results Female non-secretors way outnumber Female secreturs even though they make up only about 12-15% of the population. |

I think that would be it. Though it is a small sample it goes roughly 60% nonnies vs. 40% secretors as opposed to say 12% vs. 88% in the overall population. A very striking divergence. Though I am a secretor I realize nonnies have a more difficult path and I wish them well. |

I still think that the saliva secretor test is not very accurate to say the least. This poll would tend to also indicate that as well. Try and justify it how you want but everyone I know that I have turned on to the blood type diet and have taken the saliva test have come back as NON-secretors. Both family members and non family members. Too coincidental if you ask me. I think it should be looked into furthur and having read all of Dr. D's works I know that he wouldn't want it any other way. |

then the secretor test thankfully confirmed my non secretor status
how long did your saliva have to travel Mono?
I waited till I was at a conference in the US to do all my testing. |

i know in my circle, those who have sent away for their saliva secretor tests, only myself and my birth mother came back as nonnies. The rest (about 7 or 8 so far) have been secretors.
I think Lola may be on to something about the distance / time issue. I literally scheduled mine in based on when UPS was doing their pick-ups. |

In one of Dr. D's articles he talks about A2 being from Northern European. Thats all I remember right now. Not sure I can find it again. There are blood test you can do to find out for sure. |

I was worried about the time aspect as well, but there was nothing I could do differently Do you mean that the secretion in saliva might "wear off" if the sample takes too long in getting to the lab? No-one here is even heard of Lewis typing, so that's out of the question. I thought there was a lab in UK that would perform the saliva testing, I hadn't realized the sample would have to be sent all the way to the States. I took my sample on 03/26, it left the country the next day, and arrived at NAP lab on 04/06. Then again, Henriette sent hers (from Denmark) and turned out Sec |

Hey Pixu,
Just FYI; if you email the guys at right4eu.com they can supply you with a blood test that can do your Lewis typing. (You should take the blood yourself and then send it in to a lab in the UK.) That same bloodtest can also confirm your blood-, rhesus- and MN-type if I'm correct. |

Yes, I ordered lewis, A1/A2, duffy, MN test kit from Nature-cure Labs in the UK. I need to send it in an express bag to get it there fast so it is viable for testing. It is a blood sample, just ten drops. Ps hello Damon & JillP, great to see other nonnie warriors! |

Hi Serenity,
I suppose that means you still have to 'take' your test? I can tell from experience that getting blood out of your fingertip (after having punctured it with the enclosed needle-thing) is close to impossible for an A nonnie (warrior).. I spinned my arms around like crazy, kept my hands low and tried to push all my blood to my finger tips, but only got 5 drops out, even after multiple punctures. (I was close to replacing the enclosed needle with a kitchen knife in order to make a proper cut! In hindsight the culprit turned out to not have been the needle, but thick A nonnie blood..)
Anyway, in summary, I would advise all A nonnies aiming to take that test to completely avoid all avoids the days before doing the test, to focus on some natural blood thinning foods like garlic, and to not be afraid to make a proper hole with that needle. |

Damon I can just see you eyeing for that knife I just sent NAP an email asking about the viability of my results, considering it was 11 days until they got my sample. I just could not afford an extra test right now... |

I did send it right away. I took it to the post office right after collecting it (03/26), and it left the country the next day. Then it was M.I.A. for more than a week, until they recieved it at the lab (04/06). I emailed NAP to make sure the results were viable, and they assured me the lab would have contacted them had there been a problem with the sample. And at the lab they knew the date I'd collected the sample, so I'd think they would have said sth if it had been faulty. |

Information is power. It's up to you how you use the information. You always have the option of choosing to be less compliant; of including some "nonnie avoids/secretor neutrals" in your diet even if you turn out to be a nonnie. When I thought I was a secretor, I planned to be 100% compliant. I saw no reason not to be. But as an O nonnie, I realize it's impractical to think that I'll NEVER ingest sugar, honey, maple syrup, or apple cider vinegar ever again in my entire life. I still aim for 100% compliance most of the time, but I do eat a few chocolate chips per year, or lick my finger after using honey in something for one of the kids, and my Rosh Hashonna honey cake is going to have real honey in it! Knowing your secretor status helps you fine-tune which beneficials to emphasize for maximum health. It helps you identify which foods you should avoid when you're feeling run-down or under the weather. Nobody is ever going to force you to be 100% compliant 100% of the time. |

I know this isn't scientific, but I'm surprised at the results. I thought non secretors were supposed to be rare. |

Non-Secretors are rare, but we're also prone to more health problems, so we're likely to find BTD and post on health-related websites. |

I'm sending my secretor test tomorrow. I'll know in several weeks what I am. In the meantime, trying to be a compliant B following BTD. Next month, I'll be SWAMIfied! Oh, food. |

Good for you, Taxman. This way of eating can be a challenge, but a lot of fun as well. And, once you get it in gear and keep at it, the health benefits really start to manifest themselves. |
