Has anyone ever done a juice fast? I plan on doing this. One difference though; I plan on having small amounts of protein daily. That maybe silly to people who have done a true juice fast. In my experience not having a little protein daily makes me unhappy. Anyone have thoughts or personal experience to share? Currently Swami thinks I am a gatherer and I am an O- nonny.

I've done two juice fasts.  Both times it was for 15 days.  Not for very long.  I just did it to jump-start my weight loss program.

Protein? I don't know what to suggest. All I can tell you is my own experience. Your body does well to recycle protein from it's own old/dying tissues. I'm not talking about eating it's healthy muscle tissue either.  In times of lean it'll be fine.  It just depends on if you have excessive fat to burn and feed the body's energy needs.

The first time I juice fasted I was 50 pounds overweight (6 months ago).  It was a great experience. The second time (just 3 weeks ago) I was 5 pounds from my goal.  It was a lot harder. I felt sick and tired the whole time.  I was pretty much juicing only beneficial veggies and fruits.  The only thing I could think of is, if your closer to your ideal weight the harder it could be.

Be sure to do all the research you can before doing it.  Remember coming off the fast is just as important as starting it.

Have a great day!
Josh

Why not add some protein powder to the juice? The make one just for B's.

I used to do juice fasts a lot when I was a younger woman.  Of course, 'back then', I was eating mostly foods that were not good for my blood type, even though I thought I was doing well by eating natural and organic foods. So I needed a lot of cleaning out.

I personally think that an all fruit juice fast is too heavy on the sugars.  Perhaps some fresh squeezed fruit juice (I'd focus on diamond fruits) and at other times, fresh pressed vegetable juice (again, I'd do the diamonds).

And for a Gatherer, I think bone stock - made from slow cooking, 12 hours on very low heat, grass-fed beef knuckle bones - would be an awesome base for a broth.  The last few hours, add some Diamond red meat and/or fish to the stock, with some onions, celery tops and whatever other vegs you like and keep simmering on low.  Then strain out all the solid material, chill the stock to remove and discard the fat that rises to the top.

This broth will give you rich minerals from the bones and amino acids from the meat, without adding solid foods that require a lot of digestion. And you can sip it warm to balance out the colder juices (which you will hopefully be drinking at room temp - not refrigerator cold).

I've found out (the hard way) that a long period of fasting for me on juices, depletes me. But shorter ones are ok, like for 3 days just as a "jump start".

I don't know that I'd recommend something that drastic for an O or a B.  How about along with the juicing, keep your red meat once a day?  You're not going to have the health benefits an A like me has from raw juicing.  At least...I wouldn't do it more than a few days.  Just my opinion.

I juiced some when I was younger.  If you want to drink juice regularly you might want to buy something like a Vitamix.

If you are going to eat protein it's not really a fast & won't be as cleansing.     Why are you wanting to do a fast anyway?  For cleansing, weight loss, etc?  If weight loss is your goal, skip the juice and just fast 24 hours but not longer than 36.

I agree that short fasts are the healthiest and most health-preserving.  And very effective, too.
