I have always had trouble with frequent flatulence, even when I was a kid. It's very embarrassing. Lately I've been having even more problems with flatulence (basically every 5 minutes), especially when I eat garlic. The BTD Encyclopedia says ginger is good for flatulence, so I've been drinking that as a tea for the past 3 weeks. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be enough. Any tips for this O? |

Garlic tends to activate the bile ducts which can make sensitive people feel worse. This will abate in time, but if you add a cup or two of licorice tea to your day it will abate faster. Schwartzman Reaction http://www.dadamo.com/wiki/wiki.pl/Schwartzman_Phenomenon_(Schwartzman_Reaction)

Thank you. Sipping on some licorice right now. I'm stopping the garlic, though SWAMI says it's beneficial. |

If garlic offends odiferously, onions might as well. You could conduct your own field trials on the powerful bulbs to see if they all cause the same problem. When you can consult with a professional, you will then have that much more data to help them with.

Your body needs to heal before you give it the garlic. Your gut flora is all out of balance. SWAMI has no way of knowing that you have a problem with your gut unless you add in the breath hydrogen testing and that can only be done by some practitioners. |

I've had similar problem all my life - for me, cutting out the wheat made an amazing difference (in fact even just cutting down on the amount of wheat made a noticeable difference). I assume you've done that? |

Just because SWAMI says a food is beneficial does not mean you keep eating it when you keep getting negative results. Tweaking your diet is to be expected, even with SWAMI. |

I'm probly not much help but activated charcoal does wonders for absorbing the gas and relieves any bloating too. I asked how long you've been on diet cos seems shame the diet isn't working so well for you, altho do you think it's a detox symptom still? I can get terrible indigestion when I eat too much fibre and my body's clearing out, and that leads to lots of wind. But.... I'm prbly talking rubbish. Too new to all this (only 4 weeks on BTD), plus I'm an A, altho I've always been intersted in nutrition and so read quite a lot. good luck x |

Is charcoal allowed on the BTD? I replaced it with bentonite, because that's what Dr. D uses in Gastro-D. I figured charcoal must have been an avoid. It's not part of the BTD Encyclopedia either. |

Interesting question about the charcoal. Assumed it would be okay as it's a kind of neutral substance... hopefully someone will have looked or will look into it. The bentonite sounds good too, probly just as good if not better? Don't know... |

Christopher--- your bacteria is all off-- you need to fix it-- so the charcoal will help with the flatus, isn't that your goal? So as a short term solution I would take the charcoal. You have not addressed your gut health . I had high Breath Hydrogen even with 100% compliance I needed to take the gastro d, intrinsia, deflect and live cell for a bit. When I rechecked it was better. Once I was done with the protocol I then added the polyflora A, but not till I was done. Just eating 100% is not enough. |
