I need support with exercise this time of year.  I love exercising outside in the spring, summer and fall, but I do not love exercising outside in the winter.  Plus I injured my ankles and need to do non-weight bearing exercise.  I am finding it difficult to maintain an exercise routine given these issues.

I have also fallen off the coffee wagon.  I'm ok with that now.  I only drink one large cup in the morning and I drink it black.  I don't have blood sugar issues, so I am not worried about that, but with the combination of not exercising, drinking coffee and the holidays, plus the stress of personal/professional stuff going on, it has been a bad couple of weeks for me.  

Right now I plan to start back up again on Monday, but realistically it may be better for me to give myself permission to slack off until the new year.

I am wondering how much protein do you guys tend to eat.  And how much red meat imperticularly?  I definetly eat my body weight in grams a day and I love lean red meat.  Med rare steak is on the menu daily... sometimes a couple of times a day.

No worries, the BTD diet for 80%. You have much going on, so just take it one day at a time.

However, I  know this is easier said than done

I think it depends on if you are working out and what is your activity level? I used to always ask how much protein to eat, compare to others, but I think we are all so different.

I eat alot of protein and I seem to be ok with this. Also, if you are not balancing it with other sources of nutrients then you may eat more protein than required. just some thoughts for you.

akolley-I think the best policy is listening to your body-a long time ago when it was a question answer board. a very wonderful lady (I think it was Cocky ? told me listen to your body. There are days I devour much more meat than recommended on my SWAMIxpress, and sometimes It is the only thing I can stand to eat because I am sick and nauseous. But like I said the last doc visit said I have great numbers no probs with LDL/HDL ration or triglycerides and she wished all her patients were like me in the numbers sense.

Patty H-I can understand with CFS I get knocked down and it is really hard. I am working thorugh that now. Start slowly be gentle with yourself and your body will respond kindly.
I have found that having an exercise minded site helps too. I use Bodybuilding.com and not everyone there is into bodybuilding some are just there to get healthier for their kids. Me I want to go back to bodybuilding-the lifestyle and diet are about the same as the BTD/GTD that I have now. Just I am lacking somewhat in the exercise component. But we will soon populate our farm with critters, so i really will not ahve  choice about moving at all. Sleet, hail, rain or snow-the animals have to eat.

I'm dropping all grains from my diet except for an occasional amt needed when cooking such things as salmon or zucchini patties.  

this is new for me as I have flirted and toyed with grains making excuses about eating them.. but now due to pain I'm going to stop 99%.  

so i will keep a progress report going here.. thanks for starting this thread.  

plus I never worry about excess protein and i seem to need alot to stay balanced but I am going to work on adding lots more vegies...

Hunters need help maintaining their sanity in a world obsessed with diet and exercise & in which the Hunter is constantly told they will "regain" if they don't do thus and such and "shouldn't eat so much" etc which just reinforces eating disorder tendencies.  Not eating enough helps maintain the weight loss but at the expense of lean tissue which is hard/impossible to rebuild..... and exercise can become a source of burn out also.  Being a Hunter is just overall tiring, exhausting even.  It can be hard to know what to focus on or what to do next....  and no one ever empathizes or understands but instead the world is critical, mean and spouts off information that just makes you feel worse about yourself.  25 years of trying to manage my weight/health issues and it never gets easier.

Sahara, I feel you.  I am a big eater and tend to have a hard time building muscle, and rarely have energy to "do" cardio.  Cardio makes my adrenals go to hard and then I am dragging forever.  It is a constant game of catch-up. Both my husband and I are hunters and we are always "tired".  Granted we are active in the chores of life, but generally sleep deprived and tired.

Yeah that's pretty much how I feel. It is very exhausting and I annoy myself often with "things I have to do". I can be calm and relaxed for a few days then I get into the mode of "I need to do something to keep me busy". It really is tiring. Weight was never an issue when I was in my 20's now it seems like it's hard to keep the balance of eating less and then being more irritable and hungry. And the rapid aging- argh! 'Nuff said.
