reduce sugar, increase sleep.
I have to agree with the sugar bit. I've been sneaking more agave & chocolate covered almonds into my days and have noticed the dark circles under my eyes get worse. Sugar always does this to me. |

Another product you can buy instead of sugar, Gaz, is xylitol...low g.i., acts as a prebiotic, protects teeth from decay etc.
I would be wary of xylitol, any cheat will eventually have to be paid for. usually with candida in one form or another. being a sugar alcohol it will may not be beneficial to fructose malabsorbers. |

Black tea was originally green tea. The tea was cooked to survive the months voyage at sea, during the time of the tall ships.
Black tea is much like other smoked/well grilled food; the cooking cures troublesome compounds into an otherwise better food.
Black tea, smoked ham, and charred steak may be delicious but they build up toxins in your system. |

Get away from caffeine, esp coffee.
Caffeine makes my heart race and i cannot focus or sit still. Increases stress chemicals like adernaline and cortisol and it robs energy reserves.
I feel like it does this to me anyway. |

i also thought it was genetics.. i've had them my whole life...and same as BTypeAUS it also my upper eye / eyelids.
when i'm sleeping well they receed in colour but they never really go away. It's better when my congestion levels are low, better when i have fewer grains. |

I'm in the conventional medical field and the people with the worst dark circles are the Crohn's patients. It's almost like a flag waving "I've got bowel issues!"
I have had dark circles my whole life. But they have never been better than now. I am assuming that is because my gut is healing from being on this diet. Hunter, O secretor. No WHEAT.

Yes Jenn, very helpful. Although I'm always moaning about my dark circles they have also never been better.
I must add though that since cutting down a bit more on sugar they have got better still, although there is definitely a link with wheat too.
Although it may just be me taking Intrinsa, seriously helps so many things i think. |

Wow! I have colitis and developed circles- thought originally I was just getting older, but am off nearly all medication for the last 5 months now (yey!!) and I think my circles are getting better! That would make sense according to all the liver/ detox posts even though all my blood tests ( 4 per year) to test liver function over the last 13 years were always perfect I used to take 10 tablets a day! Must explore the sugar connection more, as I probably eat more than I would like to admit Intention for 2012....endeavour to eat less sugar (in any form) every single day |

All of these will assist gut healing, so should all be helping relieve the circles... Keep working on it - the progress shows! |

I had a brownish area around the eyes when my liver was fatigued by wheat and gluten, nose and worse eye allergy then; since some times I was gluten and cow milk free ( sugar nearly 0) I cannot see the brownish area since many years. My liver was really acting as some enzymes were too high , though not as in a hepatitis
Just to confirm no wheat and nearly no sugar, I repeat myself |

I followed the link to the liver support protocol and wondering about the directions to take Deflect B supplement between meals. I've been following the directions on the bottle which says to take with meals. Does anyone know if this matters? something particular as a protocol if you are liver detoxing? something else? |

My understanding is that deflect with meals helps minimize damage from lectins in the current meal, while taking it between meals helps the body clear out old lectin damage. |
