in the book Change Your Genetic Destiny on p. 177 under "Irritate the gut" paragraph it states that mold-containing foods and fungi can cause increased inflammation in Nomads. On p. 278 food lists it recommends many varieties of mushrooms as superfoods (w/diamond after them) for Nomad GT. Aren't all of these mushrooms fungi? Is there more to this information that I'm missing? thanks for further direction on this that anyone might have - gut inflammation has been one of the biggest issues for me so I want to get it right!

This is similar to the probiotic issue: they are bacteria, but not all bacteria are good, and many are harmful.
There are no molds that are good for us AFAIK, and only a few yeasts, but mushrooms are a different story. They are a different part of the same kingdom. |

I haven't had mushrooms for ages & tonight I found a container of some I had dried well over 2 years ago & thought I should check on them... I sniffed them to see if they smelt of mold & seeing an odd colour to the edge of one or two pieces I picked them up & decided to bin them just in case... Then within 10 minutes, I noticed the usual inflamed feeling I get when I am about to get when I react & a few minutes later also noticed a sniffly nose So I am pretty sure it had to have been the mushrooms I can't believe it as I didn't even eat one... |

find out which mushrooms are right for you when running a swami///
some are diamond beneficial for me, other are outright toxins with no dot next to them, only deep blue, meaning highly inflammatory
in the cancer book however, some mushrooms change value, depending....some type-specific lectins can show a preference for abnormal cells, so if you may have some of those, their negative reaction to your type becomes positive because it targets the cancer cells. Aberrant expression of lectins in the disease state was indeed how Dr. D explained this.
so depending on your variants, swami will compute what is right for you |

I like mushrooms as well... The only ones listed as black dot for me are the Brown Crimini and Shiitake... Gives me lots of options for yummy dishes! |

I only eat mushrooms that are Diamonds on my SWAMI. They are greatly supportive to my immune system. |

I think his comment is that if you got this much reaction from just sniffing the mushrooms, just think what it would have been if you had eaten one or all of them... |

Yes my O sister is deathly allergic to mushrooms and it had put her in the emergency room before. On the plus side it has caused her to start cooking and reading labels. |

I remember they used to send me to the bathroom with griping pains (as a teenager) but I thought I had grown out of that issue... Well I did, I guess... but the reaction must just have morphed & come back again but with different symptoms |

Nitricycle is a nice product featuring Cordyceps. http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP013Dr. Becker on Your Health (tv) talks a lot about what he calls medicinal mushrooms and how they modulate the immune system. Cordyceps is one he really likes. Some of these mushrooms help with blood sugar regulation. Reishi, Shitake, and Maitake also get a lot of mentions. |
