I have been always told that I am more of an extrovert which I thought was true. However, I think that is when I had a lot of nervous energy and not taking care of myself.
I am really not a fan of loud noise at work, tons of laughing and everyone slamming doors. Lately, I just feel like telling everyone to be QUIET so I can think and get my notes done. Sounds rude, I know.
I guess I am learning more about myself, and as an o hunter, I am surprised to learn that I feel most content researching, analyzing and being an focused on my work.
Do other o's resonate with this, or is it odd?

I often don't fit in well in workplaces even though I work hard. I was told at my last job that I'm a "powerhouse" but was also mistreated a lot; ie, a lot of ageism, criticism of my size etc. I prefer a quiet environment also and tend to keep to myself. Yet I've also worked at jobs with a lot of personal contact and face to face activity and though I can do that, I'm finding that it's not what I enjoy most. |

I'm a gatherer, I think I work well with others and had always worked with the public (sales). However I really like the jobs I have now. Cleaning at night with only BD. Who is working her part of the job by herself and I work at home (sewing) I can do eather but I enjoy working alone. Some of that may just be age and I like doing things on my one time and I like not having to drive. |

Marjorie, have you ever taken the Myers Briggs type indicator test? It can provide you with helpful insights as to why you do the things you do. I myself have always been an introvert, but some of my happiest memories are of when all three of my sons were home, playing video games, laughing loudly and just generally having a good old raucous time. But then again, I NEED my downtime in huge chunks. If I don't get that, then I am just not fun to be around. |

Btw, I am also an O type Hunter, and I do best when I work quietly at home alone. I absolutely despise working with the public, as in a retail setting. I have also worked in an office setting, and while it was somewhat less stressful, I would much rather be all by myself without anyone telling me what to do, or when to do it. I tend to rebel against authority...in my own quiet, introverted way, that is. |

I have done the test, but I need to do it again... I forget my letters... definitely an introvert though. Well, makes me feel better to know I am not off target if I just listen to myself. Kind of excited to get into a phd program where I can channel my energy into my studies and research. Makes more sense for me. Need to stay positive! |

I am all for team work. I work well when people respect one another and do not back stab and are not greedy and selfish. I like to be happy go lucky. I do not like jobs that are loud and hectic. I find it hard being too close to people due to my third hand smoke problem and my sensitive nose and lungs. Someone can sit by me and I can feel unwell if they smell of smoke or if the clothes they wear were stored in a basement and of course the perfume or if they have bad body odor. |

This sounds a lot like me, big time. I have 3 boys as well, and I love being with them and around them (dd too!) and enjoy their infectious enthusiasm with their gaming etc. But when I want to go to sleep, they'd better darn well be quiet 'cause I can hear every nuance of noise coming up from the basement! Very nonnie of me. |

Hunter, I work in an extroverted capacity with others for short times in intense focus and attention, and have a majority of time working in more introverted self directed and fulfilling activities. It's a good mix. A free 72 question quiz will show you a single personality type http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.aspA free 20 question quiz will show you how you are a mixture of E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P. It shows how you score across all 16 types by percentage. http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/mmdi/questionnaire/I'd make a note of the 6 highest scores. |

Hmm, ISTJ Hunter I like a bit of background noise. After years in an open plan office I have spent the last year working in 'my office' and I am a hell of a lot less productive in my little room than I was at my desk. But I do need time without direct interruptions and people requiring input all the time, too, which is not always easy to come by. So my conclusion is that I like having people around me to interact with on some level and some kind of buzz around me but that I need to have time to gather my thoughts every day and work uninterrupted for perhaps up to 20% of the day, otherwise all the little things to remember and anything that requires me to focus and actually think through an issue does not get done or not get done well or in a timely fashion. Conclusion from that is that I need to work out how to transfer to the office in Zurich at some point because there are no plans to move my current office into a modern office space that does away with personal offices and they have just moved into a lovely modern office - I was there last Friday and it was perfect, just how I like my work environment to be...suppose I should come up with a better argument because I love the office is not going to do it |

marjorie, it is a simple blood test. Ask your doctor to order Lewis phenotyping. While you are at it, ask for MN phenotyping as well. If you have health insurance, they should cover it. It is simply another form of blood typing, like ABO blood typing. If your doctor will not order it, although I have no idea why they would not, you can order the secretor saliva test. I have done both. My Lewis phenotyping confirmed my saliva testing. Non-secretor. |

When I spoke to someone about being surprised that I am a Secretor, they mentioned that perhaps I was a light Secretor. The person I spoke with is well versed in Dr. D'Adamo health protocols. So...I guess there are different percentage strengths...but I was assured that I am still a Secretor if that is what I typed as. |

Not likely unless you're Asian. Weak secretors are very rare and more likely Asian and it still is rare in this population. |

I have a hard time with the Myers-Briggs. Every time I take it I get a different result. Maybe I should do it several times and see what result occurs more often. Anybody else experience this? |

Yeah I'm the same. I work from home when I don't travel. I do extremely well by myself. I don't like office environments with people interrupting me. And I do not like noise either. It's also why I do not want children. Ha! |
