So are Gatherers easily confused? Because I am. So I'm trying to take this genotype test that I bought basically for curiosity sake....and I'm confused.I got as far as using the basic calculator which gave me 2,3,4,6.....and then I went to the Intermediate Calculator which I think, If I looked at it correctly makes me a 2. Since I know my blood type do I go on with the rest of the test or do I stop here? And really, a Gatherer? I'm reading the description and it sounds nothing like me....I haven't even looked at a food list yet...I imagine I need a book for that.....dont have one yet. |

You may as well go on with the rest of the test, since you have it. Os can be Hunters, Gatherers, or Explorers. Read the descriptions of those genotyeps as well, to see if another one "fits you" better.
Not everybody fits neatly into one of the Genotypes. That's why Dr D wrote the SWAMI software. SWAMI blends BTD and GTD and specific health concerns and calculates a unique diet for each individual. SWAMI often computes a different genotype "starting point" than people would calculate based on the chart in the back of hte book or the genotyping kit.
I don't really think you need a SWAMI right now, but I'm just mentioning it to give some context to Genotypes. While it's fun to figure out your genotype, I think you're better off sticking with the type O secretor diet for the time being. |

Of the three genotypes you can be, Hunter, Gatherer or Explorer, does one resonate most with you? Which are longer, your ring or index fingers; your legs or your torso, your upper legs or lower legs? How about your wrist encirclement. Are your legs andric or gynic?
If you know your blood type and have measured your leg and torso measurements, index and ring finger measurements, just use the intermediate calculator.
I notice you have not put your Rhesus blood type on your avatar. Do you know wheather you are an O+ or and O-? If so, you can also look at the advanced calculator and see what the options are depending upon your secretor status. Some folks find the strength tests confusing. I did. |

PS: if you want to post your measurements here I am sure some of us would be willing to take a stab at your genotype. I am happy to help |

The descriptions made no sense to me at first, thought I was a Gatherer or Explorer. I measured my fingers wrong too.... it was my leg length to torso measurement that cleared the confusion. Then I remeasured my fingers and realized I had the longer ring finger etc. And then read the Gatherer chapter in the book and realized it was all wrong.
If you can't figure it out post your info and we can help. |

Well....I'll be quick here...not much time...sorry! I'll put in the measurements I have and see if there's more questions tomorrow...
My Torso is definitely longer than my leg measurements. And the upper leg is longer than the lower leg measurement. The fingers were tricky....they were very very close, but with the help from DH we finally came up with the cosenses that the index fingers were a bit longer than the ring fingers.
I am O+.
That's as far as I went because I understood if you know what your blood type is, that's all you need to do for the genotype. (unless I do swami later) I have the secretor test here, but haven't done it or sent it in yet.
Thanks everyone! |

only use the advanced calculator, knowing your blood type |

OK, so torso longer than legs and upper leg longer than lower leg.
Index fingers longer than ring fingers. I am assuming you used the palm up method to measure because this measurement can make the difference in the book. Be sure, if they are very, very close. Maybe someone can post the youtube link for accurate finger measurement instructions.
If your index fingers are for sure longer than your ring fingers, you type as a Gatherer in the advanced calculator in the book, whether you are a secretor or a non-secretor.
If you re-measure and your ring fingers are longer and all other information is correct, you come out as a Hunter if you are a secretor and an Explorer if you are a non-secretor.
My advice is if this does not fit you, go back and re-measure or purchase SWAMI. You will still need to re-measure but SWAMI takes more information into account.
If you plan to stay on the diet only as long as it take you to get pregnant, assuming you get pregnant quickly, then I would recommend you follow the Blood Type Diet, like Ruthie said earlier.
It is fun to know your GenoType, however! |

sounds like your a Gatherer G2. You know your O+ because you checked your blood or a doctor checked it? |

Ties go to the index finger.
If the lengths are so close that you cannot tell or you have to do the measurement over and over to get a difference, you should use "index finger is longer" in the tables. |

So, assuming your index fingers are longer, like geminisue says, sounds like you are a Gatherer. |
