Im so upset...I just tested my genotype and I am not positive that I did it completely accurate but what I got from it was that I am a gatherer! When I read the food lists in the book "Change your Gentic Density" it says I cant have chicken or plums. Ok now these are 2 main foods I eat. I started in them because I am blood type o Non secretor and it said that chicken and plums were ok to eat. Please tell me that I may have tested wrong!!! This really upsets me! On the blood type diet it says plums are beneficial and on the genyotype its a straight up avoid! |

You may want to run a SWAMI if you can afford it. As a non-secretor you are a fair bet to get those foods back in the individualized version, in my opinion.

I know, many of us have been through various changes. My first was typing by the book, a few months later doing SWAMI, a few months later through confirmation of my secretor status. I know some people advice to start with BTD and move along. I was trying to stay within a budget but in some ways I wish I could of done it all at once - SWAMI and secretor. You may be pleasantly surprised to see that you can have chicken and plums on Swamie if you are a Gatheror. I think Ruthiegirl is a Gatherer and I'm sure she'll chime in at some point and let you know. I feel so much better to have the matter finally settled now that my secretor stats is known...but version 2 of Swamie Xpress is to be released at some point this year so it will be interesting to see the changes. Research, information, is changing daily, but you can feel confident in the results Swamie will give you. Take heart, I know how you feel, I've been there! |

I use turkey inplace of chicken, here at home, don't even miss it anymore. Chicken is a black dot meaning you can reintroduce it in modest amounts after 3-6 months. I only eat it when I'm out and there's no steak around.
Plums I do miss, but have replaced them with other fruits. I find fruit isn't as good for me right now. |

I am extremely symetrical. We had to use a caliper because I kept coming out different. Are you andric or genic? Ectomorph or endomorph?

Finger length is a good indicator for genotype in type O. Sounds like a gatherer. SWAMI would really be your best bet to get it just right. My finger measurements were so close it was driving me crazy!
Swami takes so much into consideration that this one measurement will not classify you into just one category. For example, just to see what would happen I entered my finger measurements into Swami with my ring fingers slightly longer, my index fingers slightly longer and also both the same. In all cases I remained a Hunter and the values of the foods didn't change much.

I did the same thing Wholefoodie and always a Hunter. Isn't the ecto/meso thing big with gatherers too? Could be explorer as well. Time for SWAMI. I was back and forth between Hunter and Gatherer in the book but however I cahnge swami, I'm always a Hunter. I tried the Gatherer diet and it didn't suit me. |

does it have chicken as an avoid or a neutral for you? It;s a neutral for the two girls who are gatherer but also a neutral for me as an explorer. so start off by at least limiting it, and ensuring it is organic, at the very least, if not organic i wouldn't bother and if corn fed walk away |

Ties go to index (which is what you remeasured anyway). We should ignore all strength test results and go directly to the advanced calculator at end of book. Based on Type O, female, Rh+, nonsecretor, index finger longer both hands you are a Gatherer. |

Sugar makes me tired, fruit has a lot of sugar. I've been running in all directions lately so sugar/ fruit drags me down. I need to keep hydrated for the same reason and find I drink less (perhaps because of the sweet juices in the fruit) I've been drinking sparkling mineral water with some grapefruit juice, that has been my fruit for the day. |

Is this the way we are supposed to be measuring now?
supposed to be measuring now???? it simply is a different way to measure if there were any doubts as to the ratio.... an option for people who need reassurance I was taught this other method when attending the first TN mini conference |

Well, I measured again for about the hundredth time and came up with different numbers but it didn't matter to SWAMI! Now my ring fingers are the longest but not very much! Both my index fingers curve a little - the one on the right more than the one on the left, so they are harder to measure. |

L26- you may just want to stick with BTD for now, if you're finding it too hard to implement the GTD diet, especially if you're still confused about which genotype you are.
Chances are, SWAMI would allow you to have both chicken and plums. For me personally, plums are beneficial and chicken is neutral, both BTD values, while turkey is beneficial, a GTD value. Plus with a type B son in the house (chicken is an avoid for Bs) it's generally more convenient for me to prepare turkey.

Thank you so much Ruthiegirl! I am going to go with your advice and keep the chicken and plums! I will use turkey occassionally! I was waiting on here to hear from you! You sound like you have plenty of knowledge and I trust what you say. In addition I feel great from eating chicken and plums! Not run down or anything! So I was upset when the Gatherer diet said to avoid. A lot of posts are telling me that the SWAMI would put chicken and plums back into my diet anyways! I think I am going to stick with the BTD and use the GTD every once and a while! As for SWAMI...its too expensive! It will have to wait! Again thank you Ruthiegirl...you have helped me a lot make my decision! |

One more quick question just out of pure curiosity!!! Why would the Gatherer diet restrict chicken and plums anyways! Chicken is a great source of protien and plums are high in antioxidants! Not really understanding why they would be a bad choice for Gatherers, especially Blood type O Gatherers! |

Chicken would be a very bad choice for type B Gatherers! It also does turn up as a black dot on the occasional O Gatherer SWAMI as well- something about chicken slows down the metabolism in some Gatherers, and it's specifically a toxic lectin for Bs.
I'm not sure about plums- it may have to do with the sugar content, as the Gatherer diet is designed to be low in carbs and low in GI, as Gatherers tend to have trouble with blood sugar control. Plums are beneficial for all types on BTD.
The fact that plums are high in antioxidants doesn't mean anything when you're talking about individualized nutrition. Blackberries are high in antioxidants as well, but they're "avoids" for Os. Dairy products are high in calcium, yet most are avoids for Os, chicken is a great source of protein, yet it's an avoid for Bs, etc. |

True! You think I am ok to continue to eat chicken though?! I am actually going to buy some apricots tonight because they are beneficial for Gatherer O's. |
