Hi, guys! First I would like to aplogize. English is my second language and, please, don't hold it against me if I make a mistake. I read the book in croatian; couldn't find it in english. Ok? I was shocked, to say the least, to discover I was a hunter. Now, I don't have a problem with anything a hunter has to eat or introduce to his diet. But! It was very weird to read about chocolate. I've always loved chocolate; since I was like 3yrs old. But, it doesn't say what kind of chocolate or is it cocoa or chocolate with 70% cocoa in it.... It's very confusing. I don't use sugar in my tea (I quit drinking coffee for good ) I use artifical sweeteners like the ones you buy in a drug store or the latest stevia. And since I discovered I can eat chocolate I crave it every day. So, is just it in my head or...? Or I should start taking one teaspoon of molasses in my tea? I know I'm doing something wrong... |

Sugars should be limited. Staying within the suggested amounts would be better than using more.
If I recall correctly, stevia is okay for a Hunter. |

follow frequency values given from all your food groups once you have ingested the 7 servings of vegetables and all other food groups given you will no longer have cravings for chocolate, believe me! if you analyze your list cautiously, chocolate is under condiments and the frequency value is what it is, a condiment by chocolate, understand this means pure cacao powder here s a recipe for compliant chocolate you can do at home if you do not find a pure form of chocolate in Croatia welcome! http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/recipedepictor7x.cgi?515 |

Thank you, Lola! You helped tremendously! It was very confusing.. Funny thing is, just the other day I went to my Bio&Bio store and they had the purest cocoa powder and I didn't even look at it twice. The recipe is great and really easy...But I'm going to do the easiest thing and allow myself chocolate with 62% cocoa from my Bio&Bio store once a week. I think that should be more than enough for me. I'm still new at GTD so I'm still experimenting. I'll get there... And what do you think about molasses and agave syrup? Cause right now I'm using artifical sweeteners and stevia but if they don't really do me good could stop using them. Or something... |

The blood type O diet is similar to paleo, not sure if you have heard of that or are familiar with the concept...... Grains and sugars are OK in moderation but should not be emphasized.
I use stevia or Tru Via. I rarely buy anything sweetened with agave since I don't eat cookies or sweetened yogurt/kefir etc but no I wouldn't buy agave. Molasses though I have read has minerals that are good for you. You want to buy unsulphered molasses. |

Fantastic answer! Thank you so much! I drink a LOT of tea ( which I recently discovered does me very good ) and sometimes especially in the morning I like to drink it sweet. So molasses is ok then. Thank you again... |

Chocolate deminishes the risk for heart attack and many long and gracefully aged individuals have eaten much good chocolate. I myself have started to eat more raw chocolate because of higher nutrient (antioxidants, for instance) content. It's usually sweetened with either - coconut palm sugar (other coconut products are an avoid to me but this one has a very low glycemic index) - agave syrup OR - maple sugar. Yummy (but quite expensive, huh.) Saturated fats are also quite healthful with unsaturated ones |

Thank you for sharing. I myself avoid coconut palm sugar cause it just doesn't sit with me. I'll try the agave syrup soon. Thanks... |

Welcome! Your English is a lot better than my Croatian, so no need to apologize for your language skills!
Artificial sweeteners are bad news. They're not "foods" and they don't belong in your body. Each of those chemicals is a little bit different from one another, and they cause different problems. It's best to avoid sweetners altogether, and get used to the taste of natural foods. But if you do want to use some sweetening, use a natural sweetener, such as agave, molasses, or stevia. Read ingredients carefully- some forms of stevia have "avoid" additives in them.
Agave and stevia are neutral for Hunters, while molasses is "beneficial" making it a healthier choice for you. Again, moderation is the key. One cup of molasses-sweetened tea in the morning is appropriate. Drinking sweetened tea all day long is not.
See if you can find 100% chocolate. In the USA, it's sold as "unsweetened baking chocolate" and it's on the shelf with flour, sugar, baking powder, etc. Sometimes I eat it just the way it is, and other times I melt it, stir in agave and/or molasses, let it cool, and eat it that way.
The 62% chocolate you found has sugar in it, right? Unless you found an agave-sweetened chocolate at your health food store, you're probably consuming "avoid" cane sugar or beet sugar with that chocolate. Sugar can be addicting, and that might be why you're craving it so much. Go ahead and finish up what you've already bought, but see if you can find a healthier replacement next time you go shopping. |

You are so cool! Fantastic info!!! So, I kinda got the 'red alert' from my body that artificial sweeteners are not that tasty. And I thought about agave and molasses and I see my body was correct. I tried stevia...but it just doesn't feel right or tastes right. I'll finish with what I have left of stevia and buy molasses for my morning cup of tea. Since I have a sweet tooth, a big one, I have to have at least once a week a nice piece of chocolate. And yes I figured it would be better to buy 100% chocolate and melt it and stir in agave syrup. Once again thank you so much, you've been very helpful... |

We enjoy having you! It's a fun and informative place. Forgot to mention I love my little square of organic 85% chocolate almost every day! I think I will try to make my own, though. That recipe looks good!
I heard Croatia is beautiful. Hope to see it someday. |

Yes, this is a informative place. Just right for me; I need info! I'm also thinking about having a little peace of chocolate every day cause having just one chocolate a week for me is like torture. Well not a torture but a very difficult task. And I also will make my own... Or at least I'll try! Yeah, Croatia is beautiful. If you ever get the chance to come, do! But come in July. We have the opening of Dubrovnik summer games; theater, concerts of classical music...Lot's of famous guests and fun, fun, fun. And if you don't like crowded places come early or later in the season. It's still warm and a bit quiet. |

Yes, that's very true. I usually crave it in the evening by the TV. It sucks I know but better a little piece of heaven than...I don't know....a piece of 'big no,no!' cake. |

I was always under the impression that dark chocolate, at least 75% coco was good for you ? Has many health qualities including building up muscle. And even stop you getting bad illness, any up date on this? |

It's the sugar that's the culprit and often other ingredients that are uncompliant. Unsweetened chocolate or cocoa is were the benefits are. |

Some health food shops sell it, but I find it more easily in a regular supermarket, in the baking aisle. |

Try the baking section of your supermarket. I have not been able to find a bar that doesn't have a nut warning and we have a severe nut allergy in the family. I buy a canister of organic unsweetened cocoa. At least instead of plain sugar you can add agave if you bake with it. I have made brownies using it. Also, I like some softened ghee mixed with a spoon of cocoa and a drop of agave spread on a toasted rice cake. I also add a tablespoon of cocoa to my chili recipe posted here: http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/recipedepictor7x.cgi?1327 Goldie, one of our forum members, makes a hot drink with unsweetened cocoa instead of drinking coffee. Raw, unroasted cocoa powder? Or cocoa mass? They are quite usual in health shops in Finland. But not very cheap.
You can eat raw cocoa mass and take a teaspoon of honey or other compliant sweetener of good quality. |
