What do you think about this article? I love raw eggs, but I also heard some things about it causing bad breath and biotin deficiencies. But apparently it also increases glutathione, which is very important for health. Thoughts? http://www.amazing-glutathione.com/raw-eggs.html |

This explains yet another reason I have so many eggs on my SWAMI and why I feel so good after eating them raw. I have to "just do it" |

I’ve mixed raw eggs in a shake but never drank them straight up. I guess I should try since the article says that is the only way to get the full benefit. |

That is fascinating, Christopher. Thank you for sharing this! I am toxic in both lead and mercury and need to up my glutathione. The article addresses the biotin issue at the end, saying that as long as you eat the whole egg, it is balanced.
I don't know anything about the bad breath . . .
One thing the article does not say is how many raw eggs a person should have per day. Any thoughts on that? |

Interesting. Didn't know that. Considering I can't have raw milk, I guess the only way to get this into my diet is through raw eggs. Just playing devil's advocate, I do recall that raw eggs are absorbed at a much lower rate than cooked eggs (which is almost at 100%). The undigested protein will be passed on to the bacteria, perhaps indirectly leading to bad breath. I'm not sure if it's a very good idea to pass on undigested protein to these critters. Sounds like bowel toxicity to me. Then again, glutathione is among the very best markers of health and aging. Harvard professor: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112334465&ft=2&f=510221The raw vs. cooked eggs debate will probably go on for centuries, so I'd be a little curious to know what Dr. D thinks about this topic. |

I guess if you plop the egg into a shake, or some almond milk & vanilla & drink it straight down without mixing (& breaking) it should have the same effect? I used to love egg flips, as a teenager if I wasn't up to eating... |

I can't stand gobbling up raw eggs but I use them in my homemade mayonnaise and that way I hope I can still get the benefits |

The article states that the proteins are delicate and are destroyed if you mix them (as in a shake), or cook them, and that the best way to get them is to crack open an egg into a glass and drink it down raw and whole. Yuck. Can't imagine myself doing that anytime soon, but you never know, I might someday. |

Mark, that was fascinating. Thank you for sharing the link. I guess my sushi and sashimi have to go? Seriously, though, I am interested in learning more about raw eggs and glutathione, as I need glutathione to help eliminate the heavy metals in my body. |

I get my eggs from a local farm where I get my meat and poultry. My daughter commented on the color of the yolk the other day. They are a bright orange as opposed to a pale yellow, which is great. I tried a raw egg yesterday after reading this. It's not so bad. A bit like eating oysters on the half shell. |

Well not being able to decide what to eat for breakfast this morning, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to try the raw egg meal... I gotta admit though, at first, I was not enjoying the sight of it, & even less the idea of the texture going down, so I added a splash of natural vanilla & a couple of teaspoons of cream Yum; I have to say I am hooked - the combination was an amazing taste treat Breakfasts will be unreal from now on |

I take issue with the assertion in that link-- cooking is what makes us human. Puulease. More monkey lies. Our worldly human knowledge is limited by our experience and that which we know from others. Both may include faulty assumptions. We are, after all, human. Do you know less or more than you did 6 months ago? Then again, did you solidify beliefs or did you ask new questions? Is it possible to ask a question without viewing it through a lens of prior learning or assumptions? How does a model shift? Feeling a little heady this evening. Time to go watch some mindless entertainment. |

When Jeff DH was very ill that was what Dr. D told him to do have raw eggs . Jeff added a bit of vodka to kill the bacteria and swallowed them down.. he was 98 lbs at the time. . It was used for a specific purpose for a short period of time. |

Those eggs you get are beautiful. I like oysters on the half shell, but I like the briny/mineral sea taste of them, and they must be cold. Perhaps a really ice cold raw egg with a little something added would make it go down well. Did someone say vodka? Too bad I don't drink vodka anymore. Or Bloody Marys. I've been reading that there are plenty of other foods that increase our glutathione, and some of those are diamonds on my swami, while eggs are neutral. I eat eggs quite frequently, though, as I like them, they are easy, and they are a good source of protein, but as they are neutral I'm not going to worry too much about getting them down raw. |

I never felt good after eating raw egg whites. I've made my own dairy-free egg nog in the past; once with coconut milk (pre-BTD) and once with almond milk, and the raw eggs in the blender just did NOT sit right with me. I'm fine with undercooked egg yolks, but the whites do need to be cooked. I never had an issue with homemade mayo, as I never eat too much at one time. But with the egg nog, I was drinking the whole thing in one evening.
Then again, I never did try a raw egg without whipping it up first. My body might respond differently. It's not on my "to do list" though. |

The only comment I have ever seen from Dr. D. about raw eggs is in the link below. What I don't know is - "How important is the context of this statement?" http://www.dadamo.com/B2blogs/blogs/index.php/2004/02/25/again-and-again-and-again?blog=27
I agree with Dr. D. There are other, safer ways to promote glutathione production in the body. . Liver detoxification is very important. A good study of the way we can increase glutathione in our bodies is important. It is my understanding that glutamate, cysteine and glycine are precursors of glutathione and without them the cells won't produce glutathione. Supplements of glutathione are inactivated by the stomach and are worthless unless they are a formulation of the three amino acids I mentioned earlier. I have a product from Twin Lab that has worked well for me in the past. In fact, I think I will start back to taking it after refreshing my memory about it! I'm glad this thread was started! |

Hi, Patty, thanks for the link! I actually saw that page while I was googling *glutathione* when I was first reading this thread. Thank goodness there are lots of my swami superfoods/diamonds on that list, and foods I really enjoy eating. Swami is a great thing. |

GTD is all about detoxing and resetting at a cellular level Dr D ha extensively studied those pathways, heck he has even written a textbook!!! http://www.drpeterjdadamo.com/generative/textbook.shtmlnow all this in fact has been computed into the swami interphase, giving each GT their own activator, synergist, catalyst formulas also all there is available in the detox section of DPN http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP053http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP043
Quoted Text
methods are the most effective to boost glutathione.
* NAC (N-acetyl Cysteine) - precursor to glutathione * Milk Thistle - prevents depletion of glutathione * Alpha Lipoic Acid - increases the body's ability to use cysteine to manufacture glutathione * Foods like asparagus, spinach, avocado (O sec avoid) * Curcumin (turmeric) - increase expression of glutamine * Vitamin B6, Riboflavin, and Selenium - are required in the manufacture of glutathione * Whey Protein - rich in sulphur containing amino acids (Immunocal product has been recommended to me) However, whey is a Tier 2 avoid for type O sec. * Quercitin helps to eliminate toxic compounds found in the liver. * L-glutamine is an essential dietary component which nourishes cells in the gastro-intestinal lining, liver and immune system. It also preserves liver glutathione after hepatic injury. * N-acetyl-glucosamine (NAG) is a key precursor in the biosynthesis of mucosal glycoproteins. It protects the underlying tissues from enzymes, acids and bacteria while providing a surface to absorb nutrients. L-glutamine more for serotonin issues, but it's also involved in the daily healing of the intestinal lining and I see here in the glutathione turmeric for anti-inflammatory action.
