There is a carrot slaw recipe that uses a dressing or olive oil, lime, and tequila. I found 100% agave tequila and was wondering where it fell on the avoid/beneficial chart? Agave nectar is a superfood for Nomads. |

It's my understanding that tequilla falls in the "distilled liquor" category. The small amount that your recipe probably calls for may not be an issue...but if distilled liquor is an avoid, I'd say so is tequilla (even made from agave)...With that said, I might try the dressing anyway . |

2 to 4 tablespoons for a whole bowl of carrot cabbage slaw. Probably less avoids than the typical mayonaise dressing. |

That's 1-2 ounces of tequila, which is about 1/2 to 1 ounce of alcohol. How many servings is the whole recipe? |

Well.... from my experience... I metabolize 100% agave tequila waaay better than any other alcohol. And by metabolize I mean I do not feel any residual effects the next day. I always feel a little off after only one glass of wine - including beneficial wines and some beers as well. It does befuddle me a little but I have to trust my own body on this one.
That said, I doubt there really is any benefit to tequila... but I think it would be ok to use in a salad dressing for a nomad. I have only my own anecdotal evidence, however. |

Ruth I don't know, that is for 6 carrots and a head of napa cabbage so I'd imagine several. I went ahead and bought the tequila because it is used in a marinade for a turkey recipe I'd like to try sometime. I keep my alcohol consumption down to a very occasional beer. Kristen a lot of beers have wheat in them. Michelob has something in it that gives me instant heart burn, an unlisted avoid I guess. |

OK, that's a REALLY small amount of alcohol per serving. I'd eat it (after double-checking if napa cabbage is OK for me, that is.) |

In my younger years, , tequila was the only alcohol I could drink without side effects. But then I would only do one shot with lime. I only drink one glass of red wine now or I "feel" it! Yup, a cheap date! |

I just realized that I've never had tequila. Wow.
Anyway, I'd say, if it is just a tad in there, maybe go for it, as that sounds interesting and quite possibly day-uuuum good (although, never having experienced tequila, I can't put forth an educated guess there). Otherwise just use the olive oil, lime, and maybe a little ...what...a little what...I'll have to get back to you on that one, right now, I gotta go. I was gonna say balsamic vinegar, but is that a Nomad avoid? No time to check. Gotta fly. Enjoy your carrot slaw, whatever way you go, and let us know how it turns out! |

Tequila is the only distilled liquor that doesn't trash my systems within five minutes of ingestion. 100% agave tequila is great stuff, delicious and smooth. I say go for it, and please share the recipe with us GCG. |

Sorry about the delay. I've been dealing with allergic reaction to wasp sting and the dog had a double ear infection with ear hematomas requiring surgery(doing fine now, everything except my wallet that is) 3 days off work this week. |

Sheesh, ((Gulf Coast Guy))! I hope you're both doing better now. I know what you mean about your wallet. My dog's healthcare is $$$$. Just like everything else. I love her vet. He doesn't gouge, but the guy has to make a living and pay his staff and overhead. I will remember that about pure agave tequila. Maybe pure agave tequila, lime juice (diamon), and agave syrup might be a not-too-terrible drink for me - margarita-wise - except for the triple sec. Does that have HFCS? Will investigate. |

Yeah you ought to see all of the typos in my personal cookbook on my work puter. Or in my families cookbook, surely second cousin Jonathan didn't mean to grill a pork tenderloin (stuffed with cream cheese and a half cup of jalapenos) for 6 to 8 hours. Yep absolutely nobody in my family is on the BTD. Friday my boss did mention that his wife has him on that bloodtype diet and he is a B pos. No wonder we get along so well. |

My grill can get nearly 700 degrees direct heat to sear a steak or as low as 200 indirect to bbq a brisket. I use a wireless remote temperature probe for the big pieces. |

how does that work?
There is a metal probe inserted into the meat. It is attached to a wireless sending unit. The wireless receiving unit can workup to 100 feet away and continously displays the internal temperature of the meat. You can also set an alarm for a certain temperature. As to the temperature that is controlled by air flow. |

This company (most offerings are non-booze) makes Casa Nobles Tequila ice cream (along with 13 other booze flavors and 3 booze sorbets). They try to limit flavors to 5 ingredients and will make custom ice creams. They use no preservatives and generally shoot for all-organic. They offer dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free...and you pay for it. Mulled cider sorbet? Chimay Beer ice cream? Chocolate Bourbon Bread Pudding ice cream? http://www.lacreamery.com/ice-cream-faqs.htmlLike the sound of these flavors? Goat Cheese & Basil Sweet Potato Pancake ..........I'll stop there. |
