I went to quite a lot to making this out of this world breakfast smoothie. I made it with compliant fruit and berries, plain Greek yogurt, fresh ground flax meal and dadamo protein powder for B/AB. It was out of this world crazy delicious good!!!!
Then since I haven't had yogurt in a loooong time I thought I would take a peeksy at my GTD list of foods. NOT ON IT!!! Good grief, it is an avoid for me. For real???? GEE WIZ!!!!
Hubby, suggested I do some good yogurt for awhile, since I have been on a high dose antibiotics. Before anyone asks, I am on probiotic too. John just wanted me to get some of this stuff from food too. He really hates a pill for this and a pill for that.
I really need to SWAMI... I am pulling out the measurements and going to do this thing. I hope it isn't to frustrating. I am really not up with a lot of patience today. |

Yogurt is beneficial for Bs but an avoid for Gatherers (who can be O or B, and yogurt is also an avoid for Os.)
Frosty- yogurt might end up neutral or beneficial on your SWAMI. In the meantime, having the occasional "GTD avoid/BTD bennie" isn't a bad dietary choice. |

Yeah so confusing this is at times. Bennie for a B, but avoid for a Gatherer. Ugh!!!
Gotta say though. I used a cup of the yogurt 19 grams of protein plus my dadamo protien powder and I am feeling so good.
I am working on getting in more protein. Summers are more difficult because I don't want to cook. So, I will eat fruit and cottage cheese or a salad and cottage cheese. Not enough protein. |

I use the outside grill more in the summer to avoid heat in the house. I sometimes grill in the early morning when it is cool(er) and eat the grilled goods cold later. Do the basics of your SWAMI and hopefully you'll get your yogurt back to at least Neutral... The "B" part of you needs to stay happy, too! |

I sometimes do that and have like poached salmon chilled on a cold salad for dinner. I'm having salmon tonight on the barbee poached in ghee and rosemary with asparagus. Grilling here in the summer is hot anytime of the day. We are lucky if it gets below 100 in the mornings this time of year. If it does we are in the middle of a monsoon and you don't want to be outside for those. Perhaps like 4am maybe 98, but I am not getting up at 4am to grill. |

I know. I was there for almost 4 years. 100 degrees @ 1:00AM felt really good after 120 + sun in the middle of the afternoon, though... |

What about kefir? Very close and may taste better in a smoothie. |

Yes looks easy. Amazing how milk is an avoid yet we heat it a little add a little acid and VOILA it is compliant and beneficial. It's confusing too. |

When my type B Gatherer daughter was just starting to adjust to eating from the Gatherer list instead of the B nonnie list, and grieving over the loss of yogurt for her smoothie, I made her smoothies with either ricotta or cottage cheese. Not quite the same, but it did add some creaminess and protein. I found that it was better to use less than I would have if it were yogurt. |

I was just trying it because hubby said the live active yogurt cultures would be good for me. I about had a stroke when I bought the yogurt $4.49 for 17 oz. container. I guess I was use to seeing the buy 10 for $5.00 kind of yogurts at the local grocers. I never ever liked that kind of yogurt, that is probably why they are always on sale. I pay about that maybe a little less for cottage cheese. I will try it in a smoothie. Protein content not as high and no yogurt cultures, but I will give it a whirl here in a little while for my lunch. Definitely need to bump up the protein with the dadamo powder, otherwise it won't be a meal. |

OK it's official, I tried it with the cottage cheese and not good taste combo for me. Perhaps it is the texture, not as creamy and smooth as the yogurt. Well pooh.
I am going to take a nap and then try the swami express. |

Yeah, I can relate. After doing SWAMI, it took away my precious precious yogurt. Wah! Wah! Now I have to use Kefir, also known as baby puke. |

Talking about cottage cheese I assume? It removes most of the whey, which takes most of the lactose (read "sugar") with it! |

Frosty, how about taking the rest of that yogurt, draining it for a few hours in a strainer with a weight on it, to make Paneer. Then you could add it to your smoothie very safely. And for what it's worth, Ricotta is better than Cottage Cheese in a smoothie. . . . . marginally, that is. |

we heat it a little add a little acid and VOILA it is compliant
it does however take all night in the fridge placed in a colander to drain off all the whey....there lies la grande différence!!! |

but wait... if you feel good after consuming it why don't you keep it? You might want to just stay with the blood type B diet. No need to feel deprived if you don't have too. I stay with the Blood type B diet and only do the more restrictive Nomad diet when I want to be super skinny. |

Ahhhhh yes, I have thought of this in the past.
I have a phone visit with Dr. D coming up in a month and will talk to him about my goals and go from there. I have a feeling there will be quite a bit of tweeking to my diet due to chronic pain inflammation, sugar regulation etc. I have a litany of health problems that seem to do well on the B diet, but fear weight gain and have to watch my hypoglycemia on the B diet.
Overall, I think Frosty is a lil happier on the B diet, I just have to watch that I don't get carried away with it. I am going to try a "test". I am going to do the Gatherer diet straight text book for a couple of weeks and chart how I feel then going to do a strict B diet and see how I feel.
I need to SWAMI, I am in the process of getting the blood work Dr. D needs and that will help with the SWAMI as well. |
