Hi, folks, my first post here. Madam, I'm Adam. (Ha!) I'm male, 47, and have been on and off the BTD and Genotype diets for the past several years. During the times I was on and off, I was in my late 30's / early 40's and didn't really take it all that seriously. Well, now I'm looking at age 50 comin' 'round the corner, so I'm getting bigtime serious about it now.
At my age, now, I just am tired of eating out and getting crappy food, I want stability in my life, and control of what goes into my mouth. I also still have that round middle that I need to get rid of. I'm at 230 lbs at present. I'm 6'1" and would like to tip the scales at most at 200 lbs. Possibly 185 to 190, but that would be a miracle. But, this is a miracle diet, is it not? So, like most everyone, weight loss is a primary goal.
Ok, so I have the Genotype book (had it since it was published), and have identified myself as a Warrior. I'm A+ secreter. I've also ordered the SWAMI today. So, needless to say I'm getting serious now.
I also have all 9 of the supplements listed on page 266 and take them all daily. I wonder...is this a good idea?...to take all the listed supplements? I figured 'why not?' Dr. D knows his stuff. I have no adverse reaction to any of them, and feel great. In addition, I'm also taking CLA, Vitamin D3, salmon oil, and flax oil.
Another thing I take is sublingual melatonin, because I have a hard time sleeping at night. I am just like 'The Bear', you could also call me 'The Thrasher' as well. It depends, tho, some nights I'll get a good 6 hours of sleep, some nights I'm tossing and turning. I would just love to lay my head down and wake up 8 hours later. I can't even remember the last time I've done that. So, now I'm getting real serious with this diet for another good reason...A GOOD NIGHT'S REST!
OK, so this is going to be my daily log where I'll be posting my food choices and weight on a day-to-day basis. I'll also post some recipes that I'm using and hopefully I can pass along some useful information, and folks can also post in here and teach me some things along the way. I'll probably post my weight and breakfast foods, and then another post or two that day for other things I've eaten and any exercise I had that day.
I think this log will help me keep on track and we can all learn together as I try to get to my goal weight and achieve a sense of peace and satisfaction with this great Genotype diet. So, until tomorrow's breakfast post, I bid you a good night.
Hi Adam, I'm Madam. Welcome to the forums. Always nice to see somebody who's cheerfully willing to make some changes. Most likely you will find that 30 lbs falling off on its own if you just eat right. Some people need extra help, but give it an honest shot and you won't likely be disappointed!

Welcome Adam!! It looks like you are taking this well under your shield!!! Like a true warrior!!! I live with two of them at the moment and if you could send a bit of that enthusiasm their way, will be nice!!!
Like you I also keep a log of what is going on in my journey, on a separate thread ... it makes it so much easier to go back and check things out, for when things get stiky (not talking about threads here!!), to analyze situations and see the flows and good things we do, it makes us accountable too, that is why I have also signed into the FS exercise for As thread, we have million eyes popping in to support us when needed ...

Good morning, everyone! Wow, what a warm welcome. Thanks for all the responses and encouragement. I weighed in this morning (always in my underwear and after peeing) and the scale said 230. That's no surprise. Funny thing is, just about a month ago, I was at 245. I think I've lost all of my 'water weight' and am now down to the nitty gritty weight that will be the toughest.
The most common exercise that I do, and try to do daily, is walking. I work at a university, so there is plenty of beautiful space here to walk around. Yesterday, I walked for about 30 minutes, which I estimate to be around 1.5 miles. We have a campus lake that I could walk around (have in the past) but I always feel like dying afterwards. It is about 2.5 miles and takes me about 45 minutes. I can't walk too much due to my right foot is flat (yes, only that foot, left foot is arched). I have supports in my shoes, but they only help so much. This is another reason to lose weight, so I can enjoy walking again!
The funny thing is...I mowed the lawn this weekend and that took me about 3 hours due to lots of work with the line trimmer. Anyway, after that I weighed in at 228, starting off at 231. So, I lost 3 pounds just mowing the lawn!
As for sleep, I went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 3:30am. Been up ever since. I don't think 5.5 hours is enough sleep, but I'm up, and can't go back to sleep. I'll do another post later after breakfast.

Breakfast today is my usual... one locally raised farm fresh brown egg from the Co-op, scrambled, and cooked in ghee. I make my own ghee from organic unsalted butter from the Co-op. With the egg, I have a thick slice of toasted whole wheat bread from the Co-op. (Can you tell I love my Co-op?) The bread is the 'Honey Whole Wheat' so it contains a dot, i.e., the honey. With this meal I have one cup of coffee. These days I'm real particular about my coffee. I use whole beans (Sumatra 'Black Satin' roast from Coffee.AM), a burr grinder, filtered water, and a french press. As for water, I use a Pur filter hooked to my tap. I'll occasionally buy some spring water, but rarely.
This breakfast is the most satisfying to me. I've tried eating just oatmeal, but always feel unsatisfied and not quite 'right'. I'm always hungry in the morning when on diet and this breakfast gets the job done. I also have a piece of fruit, but I usually have it about a 1/2 hour before breakfast. I crave fruit first thing because I desire something sweet and juicy (like a peach, apple, or grapefruit) to cut through that 'bad breath mouth'. OK, see you all later for lunch.
Like to see you do a different breakfast. Tofu scramble with a load of vegetables and make some flax meal bread for yourself. Recipe for the bread is in the recipe base.
Ah, tofu and veges, one of my favorites! But, not for breakfast, yuck! That would just not work for me. I do have tofu at least 3 or 4 times a week, but at lunch or supper. Supper (evening meal) is a rare event for me, so usually it is at lunch. Dr. D allows me to have up to 7 eggs a week, so I'm having an egg for breakfast each day which I enjoy. I used to add spinach and green onions to make an omelet, but I don't each spinach as much anymore due to the high iron content. My multi has more than enough iron (18mg).
I guess the primary reason I don't want to have tofu for my breakfast is that I enjoy it about 3 times a week with Asian greens in a stir fry. If I recall, tofu contains estrogen, and as a man, I don't think having tofu that often is a good idea. I did notice those suggesting it in this thread are *gasp* women. Don't worry, ladies, I will eat my tofu, I actually like it coated in brown rice flour and fried in canola oil. Yum!
OK, lunch time. I am sitting here eating some yummy Basmati rice with lentils. This is a concoction I make in two pans, one for the lentils, simmered in water for about 30 minutes. In another larger pan is the rice, water, ghee, onion, garlic, ginger, carrot, fennel seed, ground cumin, ground cardamom, turmeric, whole mustard seed, ground cinnamon, and, oh my, some red chile pepper imported from India. I guess to be 100% on diet, I should throw that last ingredient out, but I love it! Today, after heating it, I mixed in some ground flax seed. With this I'm also having some Asian greens that I sauted with a bit of canola oil, garlic, soy sauce, and thickened with some arrow root. This lunch is awesome!
Edit: I brought lime juice to sprinkle on the rice and totally forgot to use it! For dessert, I'm having an apple. Mid morning I had a cup of hot green tea. This afternoon I will have a cup of hot black tea.

Maybe it won't hurt you since you "love" it... I find it really easy to do without peppers in in any form, with the exception of chile, which I made with (Major ingredients) turkey, pinto beans, tomato and chili powder. I can sub other veggies in for the tomato, but I haven't found a good sub for the chili powder in this... Another part of individuality, I suppose.
