I decided to create a better thread for the Warriors as the other one was created for a different reason. This thread is a Warrior Support Thread for us and anyone who'd like to offer guidance for us. So, I made split pea soup yesterday. I soaked them overnigight and after an hour, I still had some hard pieces! Really annoying. I just bought them the other day. Some store brand. I knew I should have gotten Goya, oh boy a. I even put a piece of kombu in it! Do you believe it?! But even though there were some hard pieces, I puree'd it and it was better. I had leeks, carrots, onion, garlic, bay leaf, turmeric, ginger and barley miso! The miso kicked it up a notch! A real Warrior stoup. I like it thick. May not sound great but it tasted really good. |

The other day I bought some rice/spelt crackers and today I brought them to work with me with some goat cheese for lunch... It's a good thing I only brought three crackers otherwise I would have eaten the whole pack. They are delicious!!! And yesterday I had lamb with wild spinach for dinner... Another yummy! |

I don't eat beans or lentils. Never liked them. Not really willing to try either. |

Lentil soup is good. I've always liked beans..My favorite is black bean soup and split pea soup. I have a lemony lentil recipe that's really good. It has slices of lemon in it.. |

The only beneficial food that I have tried that I just can't eat has been Tofu. There were some suggestions to use tempeh, but the body just hasn't wanted it whenever I have tested it at the store. I eat pinto beans, peanuts, and lentils, so maybe I'm getting enough bean protein to not need it. I also haven't done SWAMI, yet, so the rating may change, but I doubt it... Mayflowers, I researched snails and couldn't find the beneficial kind that didn't have questionable ingredients, so I just take the Helix supplement... Makes the decision easy - even though I liked the snail I ate when in college... The split pea soup sounds really good. I have been thinking that it would be good to start a pot soon... I eat about two servings of vegetables per day now and I know that per the portion guidelines, I should be eating more, but I just don't seem to tolerate more well. Maybe they, like too much exercise, cause too much detox... I am slowly getting better, as my supplement usage has dropped considerably and there are areas of the body that don't hurt near as much as they have in the past, so the body is healing. It sometimes takes a long time to clean and rebuild everything, in spite of the desire to have it done yesterday. |

Yes! Yes! Dr.D said that when I went to see him. He mentioned that after awhile, I'd need less and less supplements as my body balances out. I noticed that too. I'm taking less supplements and having less reactions to things now. I had the same thought about taking helix...snail in a capsule. I wouldn't have to think about it. Maybe I'll try it. Joe, you can try adding some tofu to your smoothie, maybe that would cover up the taste. I made a kefir smoothie at lunch time. I use regular soy powder. The NAP powder has rice in it and I don't do well on rice. |

Just use a cup of split peas, and soak them over night because they'll cook faster, other wise it would take 3 hours to cook them. Just chop up the veggies and cook them in the pot with a piece of kombu (kelp another beneficial for me) and a bay leaf. The kombu is supposed to make them cook faster. Adds iodine also. At the end, I added a good heaping teaspoon of miso mixed with some soup from the pot, pour it back in and turn off the heat. Never boil miso. I think snails are cute. That's my problem with eating them. Cute little stalks for eyes.... Even slugs with no shell are cute. Joe, my dad was AB+ and he had gout. An AB eating too much meat.. He ate like a B or an O diet. |

I eat lentils a lot. On my SWAMI they're only neutral, but sprouted lentils are beneficial. So I put some on today to sprout. We'll see how it goes. |

ABJoe - when you say "tested" it the store. Do you mean you muscles tested the tofu? Or you just weren't feeling like eating it?
I muscle tested it...
Joe, my dad was AB+ and he had gout. An AB eating too much meat.. He ate like a B or an O diet.
I've had gout symptoms, also. My pre-BTD diet was too much meat (beef, chicken, pork), corn and potatoes...
Joe, you can try adding some tofu to your smoothie, maybe that would cover up the taste.
It hasn't been the flavor that bothers me. I don't like to vomit it... I made a pot of split pea / lentil soup today. I used: 1 C. ea lentils and split peas 3 carrots 1 onion 7 C. water. Put it all in the pan and simmered it for about 2 hours. |

Awesome! I'm totally a muscle tester on things too. Makes food choices that much easier when it comes to the "I'm not sure" items. |

This morning I feel like making a big pot of black bean soup for the day! I have noticed that I'm starting to eat a lot more things that I wouldn't have ever thought of eating as breakfast foods when it comes to breakfast. But I feel fantastic!!!
Last night I had a salmon sandwich on rye with soy mayo and had some yerba mate ice tea. I slept like a baby! The first full 8 hours I've had in over a month! Wow, I feel good! Woke up at 5am this morning and actually feel like doing something with my day! |

The one food I can't eat is chocolate. I am allergic to it so much so that it changes my personality. I love chocolate. Sigh. |

The thing about chocolate is that it's meant to be eaten as more of a condiment. That goes for everyone that can eat it. I have found that I have to be careful of the brand and the higher % of the chocolate that is in it the better. I found a really good one that also had sea salt in it. Sad to say though that it was just so overly sweet that it felt far from being a "super food" for me. Hopefully I can find chocolate that isn't so full of dairy of sugar! |

So, it's the texture you don't like? .. Try putting the miso in the split pea soup..it really enhances the flavor and doesn't really add any of it's own. You'll get the benfits of soy then. |

Leanne do you sprout regular store bought beans or do you buy organic ones? We tried sprouting back in the 70's ..the seeds used to get rancid on us. I'd really love to start sprouting again.. |

This morning I feel like making a big pot of black bean soup for the day!
Black bean soup..Mmmmm one of my favorites. I had a recipe for Brazilian Black Bean that had orange juice in it. Then you'd serve it with marinated rice (marinated in vinegar) I had to change the recipe to pineapple or apple juice and lemon juice.. |
