Hello!
I have tried to implement the "eat right 4 yor type" in my diet for the last couple of years with various success. I am not very rigid in following it but I have changed my diet quite radically in the last two years.
Anyways... I bought the genotype book the other day, and im really excited about it, I am having trouble figuring which genotype I belong to. I went for the intermediate calculator since i am familiar with my blood type, which by the way is: "O+" The Torso/leg ratio, index- and ring-finger lengths and upper/lower leg ratio led me to two possibilities: GT2 gatherer and GT4 Explorer. The result of the strength was GT4 explorer 14 points vs 6 points gatherer. So I gathered I was an explorer.
The thing is, I really can't recognize myself in much of the explorer stuff. I read the gatherer stuff, and felt I could recognize somewhat more.
I checked up on the advanced test. I am blood type O Rh+ I have no idea about secretor. BUT This doesnt matter as me torso is longer than my legs, me lowe legs are longer than my upper legs. Both options is Gatherer.
I am at a loss! The intermediate calculator states i tested STRONG for explorer genotype, While the advanced gives no other choise but gatherer.
Help please!
Here are some stats about me: I am 27 years old male 188 high 87 kg O+ Norwegian |

Hi Burlador and welcome to the forum!! If it were me and I had your measurements, I would go with the advanced calculator - and therefore, you would be a Gatherer. I am assuming that both your ring fingers are not longer (you didn't say), and thus a Hunter? Better still, you could get Swami and then all your individual measurements would be taken into account for a unique diet that's just for you. Lacking this, I would go with the Gatherer verdict as the Advanced Calculator supercedes the intermediate one in my understanding. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong . Let us know how you get on. Andy |

Hello Andy and thanks for the reply.
I'll state all my test results, so that all the facts are there:
My torso is longer than my legs my lower legs are longer than my upper my indexfingers are both longer than my ring fingers ABO: O Rh +
Strenght test results:
1.Sensitive to caffeine ( i don't now about the sleeping part, but my body absolutely revolts if I have a cup of strong coffe. Feels like my diaphragma goes bananas, and my bowls to) 2. Allergies: My mom, my brother and me, all suffer from pollen allergies.
Fingerprints: All loops on right hand. Indexfinger on my left hand is a whorl, the rest is loops. No white lines. four out of five fingerprints match, when comparing hands. I am right-handed.
I have a SMALL opening between the upper legs. I can see outlines of tendons on my wrist. I am not sure about the somatotype, either muscular or rounded, muscular I think i have the carrabellis cusp on my 5th tooth but i also believe i have incisor shoveling on upper front teeth. I have a more square jaw I have ideal waist to hip ratio Im medium headed
I dont know about the PROP taste test. some parts of salads have a taste of bitter poison to me though, really repulsive. escpecially in what we in norway call chinese cabbage.
Whooh! what a list...
What is this Swami thing by the way?

Sorry, I just noticed something. I think i might have been mistaken about fingerlength. If was looking at my hands and i noticed that my indexfinger and ringfinger on both hands are of very equal length. and it seems like both ringfingers are longer by 1-2 mm. Maybe i'm a hunter then. which corresponds well with the fact that i'm troubled with joint pain and cracking joints ( especially fingers, knees and ancles) im also allergic to pollen, dog and house dust.
Jeez, its not easy determining what genotype I belong to. All I know is that the bloodtype diet worked wonders for me when i kept it stricktly. In a matter of a couple of months i Gained 7 kg and dropped two inches of my waist. And I have never felt so radiant, happy and full of energy as in that period. I was excersicing alot and also was on the ABCDE- diet. A diet developed for exercising purposes, which basicly consists og eating quite alot of calories for 10-12 days and then less calories for 10-12 days and so on.
anyone have any pointers?
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth Sorry, was having PC problems yesterday so didn't manage to respond. Seems to me that if your ring fingers are both longer, then that would make you a Hunter for sure with your other measurements! You might want to get your secretor test done too as this gives even more information. I notice that Denverfoodie has provided the link to the Swami info - which is an even more personalised diet just for you. The Kenneth diet if you like. Try out the method for finger measurement that Lola's sent through - it's much clearer, in terms of results, than measuring above or down the sides of the fingers. Happy Hunting Andy |

My ring and index fingers are virtually exactly the same length on both hands, in fact they are so close that moving the ruler up and down (with the palm up method) even 1mm would make one or the other seem longer - any advise . Using the method in the book my ring fingers came out a little longer than my index fingers on both hands - I don't think this method is very accurate on my hand as the middle finger side of the ring finger in considerably shorter than the pinky side, but the book shows to measure the middle finger side. |

That's correct. That is why we can't just "look" at our hands and know which finger is longer. I like the palm measure better, because there is no danger of pressing down on the web in different ways. Although sometimes the results will be different with the different methods. |

I'm having issues too. The teacher and explorer strength testings are too close. Although I suffer from many explorer ailments (Asperger's and ADD, anemia, environmental allergies, chemical sensitivities), some factors of the strength tests disagree and say otherwise. I am a male with longer ring fingers, longer lower legs, and my legs are longer than my torso.
Other info... short, broad head mesomorph gynic 7 whorls, 3 ulnar loops index fingerprints differ (whorl on left, loop on right) Rh + allthough I don't know my taster status, cruciferous vegetables have a strong taste to me and when raw, they all taste like the same strong taste. I am wondering, does that indicate anything? I'm also unsure of my secretor status, but I seem to have heightened sences like many nonnies claim to have (even mouth breathing bugs me). I do personally suspect that I am a non secretor, though I do intend on getting my status checked. |

No. I'm pretty much done growing. It's been 2-3 years now and I haven't gotten any taller than I was in 8th grade. |

I think boys/men grow till 21. but found this so I am wrong,
Quoted Text
Not all boys stop growing at the same age. In general, the growth plate closes at some point following the onset of puberty. Once the growth plate has completely closed, you're done. some boys stop growing as young as 13, others have been known to keep growing as old as 17. There are probably young men who have stopped growing earlier than 13 and others who have stopped growing later than 17. Find out how old your parents were when they stopped growing. You will probably be similar to them.

I read the BTD book and found it quite fascinating. The online questionaire indicated I should try the GTD, so I ordered the testing kit and got the Genotype book. I am having a heck of a time with getting results that I can properly interpret. Many of the critical measurements are too close to determine and I have trouble reading my fingerprints correctly. Maybe it's just me, but my results are so inconsistent using the basic/intermediate/advanced calculator and the strength testing. I feel like I need help in this testing phase to properly assess my genotype. Are there any practictoners in MN that would be able to help with this? I'm frustrated.
My BTD is A negative. |

find out your secretor status and use only the advanced calculator in the back of your book
using advanced, determine if knowing your secretor status will change your gt in any way
it is easy, no worries welcome! |

Thank you Ee Dan and Sa Bon Nim!
The advanced calculator at the back of the book indicates I am a Warrior. I may still try to pin down the rest of the indicators with a practitioner versed in the GTD so that I can use the SWAMI software. Thanks for your help. |

Um, if we want to find out which finger is longer...why don't we (i.e., why doesn't Dr. D have us) just bend our fingers at the knuckle and measure from the tip of the knuckle to the tip of the finger? (as my finger goes well past the line on my palm and the web) |

When I do that, both my ring fingers are longer than my index finger, but in reality, when measure in my hand or on the computer scanned image of my hand, ring is longer in one hand and index is longer in the other ... Of course, my bending of the knuckles may not be same bending of the knuckles you mean. But, lets not go there please !!!! |

I have to wonder if that link about "growth is done between 13 and 17" meant to be writing about girls, not boys. I've met girls who were nearly grown at age 12. I've never met a girl who wasn't fully grown by 16 and a half. But with boys, the range seems to be from 15-22 rather than 13-17, at least with my limited experience.
I stopped growing in the middle of high school, while my older (by 14m) brother continued to grow during college. I'm not sure exactly how old he was when he stopped growing, as I was already married and living in another state by then. |
