Palm up is recommended because you can see the crease between the finger and the hand. You measure finger tip to crease on the side of the finger next to the middle finger. |

So, I am a hunter. Longer ring fingers with symmetrical lengths on fingers. I think I am more "square" in all my body parts than I thought.
I wonder if my German/French ancestry has anything to do with it.
thoughts? |

I'm a gatherer according to swami and a nomad according to the advanced calculator. My ring fingers are also longer than my index fingers and my fingers are all the same length on both hands. My shoulders, chest and hip measurement are all within 1inch of each other, with a defined waist and I'm German (born, raised and citizen of) |

I really enjoy learning about the genotypes, body composition and the heritage behind our looks..
When I get stressed about eating tooo much protein, I always think of my father who passed away of cirrhossis of the liver ((we owned a bar for 20 years in NY).... he was an O and def a hunter I think- anyhow, he always said "YOU NEED MEAT" and You will feel better;) |

Marjorie, I think we need to listen to our bodies. That is one of the best things the BTD/GTD/Swami way of life has taught me. |

totally agree with cajun about listening to our bodies. when i first did all of my measurements, i came up as a nomad - I was using the intermediate calculator and there was no other option with my combination of body, limbs, fingers, etc. After 4 weeks of following the nomad diet... i felt like c**p, i had gained 5 pounds, felt dumber than a sack of hammers, was completely depressed and completely lost all interest in sex. At which point i went back, redid EVERYTHING, and it still said nomad. But it felt wrong! So I decided... for the fun of it... to peruse the advanced calculator pages... it turns out that for my particular combination, because i am female, there is a small possibility to be an explorer. If i was a non-secretor. Well... I sent off for my kit, and in the meantime i started to follow the explorer diet combined with some elements from the B diet... lost the 3 of the 5 lbs i had gained and am feeling much much better... and today, i got my secretor status report ... and guess what? yup, i'm a nonnie. Everything makes soooo much sense now. |

So happy for you Zenphoenix! You mentioned combining your B diet with the Explorer one....that is pretty much what my swami did.....basically the A plus Teacher diets with a little bit of my "explorerness" thrown in ! |

New-ish here, but not to the way of life. I am a Hunter....thought I was a Gatherer when I did the test in the book, then I thought I was an Explorer after I bought the kit (could finally tell which fingers were longer!), but when I put it all in Swami I became a Hunter! |

That's great, zenphoenix! It's so important to know your secretor status. The Genotype book calculator had me as Gatherer, but Swami has me as Explorer. I feel like both. Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't. And for anyone who wonders what that is supposed to mean (if you've gotten this far), that was an old TV jingle for Mounds and Almond Joy, which I will NOT think about even if Halloween is coming. |

I thought I was Hunter or Explorer, given the descriptions & was eating like a Hunter, which felt horrible!!!! I gained 3 lbs., felt like I couldn't digest the beef I was eating & just didn't feel "good". Apparently I'm a Gatherer according to my measurements and after 2 - 3 weeks eating this way, I've lost those 3 lbs. gained, plus 2!!! Overall, I'm feeling better. I know I have a long way to go & a lot of healing to do, but I'm confident I'll get there eventually! Thanks, O in V, now I have the Almond Joy jingle in my head! lol! |

Great. Now I'm in the mood to make some almond-coated chocolate with unsweetened baking chocolate, molasses, and agave. Shame there's no good substitute for flaked coconut. |

Now, I'm wondering how many of those votes changed after a SWAMI typing. Mine did and I had already voted. Too bad. |

Any Female nomads who has longer ring finger compared to index finger?
Boy am I late on this reply - Yes. Mine are...slightly, by one mm. And they are loaded with white lines (well, they ALL are.) Such a Nomad. I also have arch patterns on all fingers and ulnar loops on the thumbs. The ring finger on my right hand looks like it may have an ulnar loop, but probably not. Melissa |

I am an Explorer....not liking the food choices so I mainly stick to the BTD for now. I am thinking about getting SWAMI so I can take it to the next level. I also need to find out what my secretor status is soon. |

I am a Hunter and have been eating only beneficials for three weeks now. I have lost 8 pounds and have trimmed my waist and stomach area without any exercise. I am going to start the exercise program this week and see what happens. I go to the fitness club and walk the treadmill at an incline for three minutes, run one minute for an hour then do weight machines for upper and lower body every other day. I weigh 127 (5'8") now (I dropped a whole dress size to a 4), which is my high school weight and same weight for most of my life. At 64 I feel and look like 45 (people often think that is my age). Not vain or trying to brag, just know that "you are what you eat" is so true. A lifetime of good nutrition, no processed foods and fresh and organic everything, helps. I truly have eaten Hunter most of my life even though I had no knowledge of ERFBT until last 3 years or so. Oh, I cut out the one glass of red wine since going on Hunter diet and I think that is why the stomach is slimming down. |
