Anybody know if Dr. D advocates these for those following the GTD?

Hubby (Hunter), is interested to know because he usually gets one every year.

Thanks!

I don't believe he advocates them, but do take individual susceptibilities into account.  For some the flu is worse than any possible problems with the shot, for others, they choose to risk the flu.  Os can have overactive immune systems and autoimmunity, so we should weigh it carefully.

I usually don't get the shot because I can't remember ever getting a really bad flu.  Also, the shot only gives good protection for a couple months, while a case of the flu gives protection from other flus for a couple years or so.  (So I often go without the shot, get maybe a mild flu, and am protected more from a new strain than those who got the shot which doesn't always cover the new strains)

Some years I do get the shot though, like this year I will, because I had pneumonia last month and I don't want to risk flu while I may still have some susceptibility in my lungs.

Dr. D. does often recommend the pneumonia shot, however.  There's a thread about it, I think Os and Bs should get it every 10 years.  As and ABs every five. It gives some cancer fighting immune benefits, as well as protecting from one bad bug, if I remember correctly.

Whatever he chooses, you should both take elderberry through the flu season, especially if you feel like you might be coming down with something, or if those around you are sick.  The homeopathic flu remedy, oscillococcinum (?), is also good to have on hand.  If what I had last year was the flu, it never really developed into anything serious, thanks to that stuff.  All of Dr. D's immunity boosting supplements are great as well, the immune system can fight an amazing number of things, given the right resources.

Os have an over active immune system per se, so it is best not to......

Lola... what is it about the overactive immune system.. is it that when we add more immunity substance to our bodies it causes issues?

That's a cool analogy.

Your car might also slip out of park and hit into a wall.

If there's a really good reason to get the shot, then that's a decision everyone can make for themselves, but a young healthy person shouldn't need the shot.  Os can be pretty tough, add a little elderberry and ARA and they're usually set to weather it out.

Check out the updated information on Pneumovax Versus Typhoid Vaccine:

http://www.dadamo.com/B2blogs/blogs/index.php/2008/04/16/pneumovax-versus-typhoid-vaccine?blog=27

Quoted Text
Unfortunately, the element in the Pneumovax that induced anti-A antibodies turned out to be an 'impurity' and further refining of the vaccine was performed to eliminate it.

However, in re-evaulating the work of Georg Springer for my book Live Right 4 Your Type, it became evident that the typhoid vaccine conveyed even more beneficial elements.
