Since I am sensitive to caffeine, I generally won't have it in any form after 12pm.  So I am not positive green tea will keep me awake if I have it at night.  If I knew for sure it wouldn't be a problem, I might drink it later in the day or early evening, but I haven't been willing to take a chance.

thanks for sharing! i understand that caffine sensitivity causes many people to change their genotypes to explorer, hence i'm wondering what constitutes to being sensitive to caffine.

Yes, that's true, but only when many other factors were taken into account.  Caffeine sensitivity alone is not enough to change a person unless it's appropriate for lots of reasons.

Hi can i ask how sensitive are the Type B explorers among us, are to caffine? will drinking a cup of green tea keep you up all night?
Only to the bathroom if I have it late enough in the evening. Otherwise, green tea does not have the same effect on me like coffee does. Just one cup of coffee can give me a "buzz" and cause tension (clenching of teeth), but nothing like that ever happens with green tea, even after 3 or 4 cups.

hi!  i understand Nomads are good with dairy but as of now, the only dairy in my diet is yogurt, was thinking of adding some cheese into my diet Any recommendations? does dairy make you guys full for a long time?

Also, any of you tried decaffinated tea like apple/fruit tea or peppermint tea? are they alright for our genotype?

Dairy makes me feel full enough, about teas I don't drink any hot teas. I don't like them and they feel funny in my body. I do drink iced tea. Regular southern sweet tea or unsweetened.

I eat a cup of goat yogurt every day, cook with ghee and have some goat or sheep's cheese a couple of times a week.  Dairy is a true comfort food for B's and Nomads.  But it's not a license to overeat it, or the wrong kinds of it.  Depends on if you are doing BTD or GTD, and which genotype you are.  Nomads can handle a little more than Gatherers, usually.

I don't drink any "flavored" teas.  My favorite green tea is Genmaicha (green tea with toasted rice) and the blood type store sells the most delicious one I've tasted.  As far as herbal teas, I drink an occasional peppermint tea if my tummy doesn't feel quite right.  There is a Chinese herbal tea that I drink every day that has siberian ginseng, schizandra, astragalus, lycium, and gynostemma (jiaogulan). . cold in the summer and hot in the winter!

I've been taking Green Tea every morning for quite a few months with no trouble sleeping. Also, I have a large cup of coffee every day too.

I couldn't understand why I was feeling nauseous yesterday.  Since I've been pretty BTD & GTD compliant I don't tend to get those queasy feelings...then I remembered: The night before a friend was serving pasta with sauce and chicken.  I gave the wheat pasta to my boyfriend, but being hungry with no choice decided the chicken wouldn't be too bad. I haven't had chicken since I learned it was a BTD toxin and a GTD dot.  Then to top it off, later they offered peanuts! Why oh why didn't I just skip it.  Dr. D. is such a smart man

Be careful when buying all these wonderful food-based vitamin C products.  Acerola powder tends to be cut with Maltodextrin.  And Camu-camu tends to be combined with Tapioca starch.  Evidently this is because these powders tend to clump into hard rocks and the starches keep it from doing that. We all just have to weigh the benefits against the possible avoids.

"Camu-Camu Mega-C™

Wild harvested from small lakes in the center of the Amazon jungle. The grape-sized red and purple berries are juiced directly after harvest and then freeze dried onto a tapioca root starch base-an ideal semi-sweet carrier for blending into juices and for use as a supplement in fresh fruit smoothies and candies. The pink powders add a fruity and semi-sweet acid flavor to most types of food and drink. Until recently, Japan bought most of the entire world harvest making Camu-Camu Mega-C™ a rare commodity even in the Amazon jungle. Today, tribes are beginning to care-take wild plantations and increase production by maintaining local trees. Planting orchards with grafted trees has become more widespread. This wild jungle berry contains the highest recorded source of vitamin C on the planet! About 20x more vitamin C than oranges or lemons. Much higher than acerola fruit. The fruit also contains natural rutin and bioflavanoids, which increase the effect of vitamin C and provide prime bioavailability. Compared with an orange, Camu-Camu Mega-C™ contains ten times more trace elements, such as iron, two times more phosphorus, proteins, beta carotene, calcium, vitamin B1, B2 and B3 as well as a comprehensive complex of minerals and amino acids. Tasty whole powers are perfect for smoothies and juices. This species occurs abundantly in wild swamps along rivers and lakes in Peru, and in Amazonian Brazil and Venezuela, often with the base of the trunk under water. During the rainy season, the lower branches are also submerged for long periods."

However, one of the sites that Lola provided seems to sell a camu powder that has no fillers.  This is from the Live Superfoods site:

"Our raw camu camu powder is drum-dried at a low temperature (under 110 degrees) and contains no additives or carriers."

speaking of swami, caffein and gather/explorer/nomad controversy......

I have been eating for my genotype of gatherer for a little over 2 months now. I dont feel good. I felt much better while just eating for my blood type. I am tired all the time. I can not recover from my work outs as quickly, and I feel like I am hormonal.

I entered in to my swami that I am sensitive to caffein. However, I noticed that I am not sensitive to all caffein. For instance the yerba mate tea, does not affect me like coffee would. Green tea does affect me a little.

Asa gatherer my dairy is VERY limited. As is the fruit. On the BT diet, I ate a lot of dairy and a lot of fruit. I almost want to switch back over because with the way i feel, I feel like something is wrong. i should not be so tired all the time and should be thinking more clearly...I cant seem to remember things. sigh. I fell like I need to start all over.

I disagree with RAWO+. I think two months is long enough that you should start feeling better, if you're actually eating for the correct genotype.

What diet are you following at the moment? Do you have a SWAMI or are you following the Gatherer diet out of the book? If you have SWAMI, how long have you been following it? Are you sure you entered all of your information correctly?

I am following the Swami software. I am pretty sure I am following it correctly. I followed BT dieet for almost two years, and just recently caved in and got the software for SWAMI. I would have thought i was an explorer or even a nomad, but it came up with gatherer. I cut out a lot of the dairy I had been eating because swami suggested only a few dairy items and less often. Also, tomatoes were added back in to my diet. I was happy about that, but now I question that they may be part of the reason I feel so yucky and tired!

Another change I made was I started drinking yerba mate tea rather than green tea. On the swami it listed yerba mate as highly beneficial for me - I think the green tea was better at helping burn stored body fat. Although, I LOVE the taste of the yerba mate. It's been nice.

Out of all the information that I entered into my SWAMI, the one thing I question was how it calculated me as the endomorphic body type. My upper torso IS longer than my legs a lot! I have a VERY long torso, but on the measurement of my legs, my upper leg length i measured to be only a fraction of an inch longer than my lower. Maybe I am measuring that wrong...This is the only thing I question. Everything else, I am pretty sure I am correct on. I did enter that I am pretty muscular. I put this in there because I have been lifting weights for over two years and have built quite a bit... However, I was not always this way. Would that matter?
