My boss at the HFS ordered a case of Stuffed Grape Leaves (or Dolmas), and I was amazed!  The ingredients are:  Organic white rice, organic grape leaves, organic onion, organic olive oil, water, organic dill, sea salt, organic mint, citric acid, organic black pepper.  They're sooooooo good!   Hope this link works

Wow.  Those are expensive.  I can get a 12-or so-oz jar for just over a dollar.  Dolmas are wonderful, but they fall apart when I try to make them.  Can your boss give advice?

I thought citric acid was just vitamin C.  Is it from corn or something bad?

It can be derived from either corn or fruit. Most winds up being from corn because it's cheaper, but ya can't be sure unless ya call.         They said they'd have to call the buyer and it could be Monday before I heard back from them.

Ribbit, what brand are you buying? That's a big dif in price

Speaking of grapes, and moving slightly into another lane,
how are you other Warriors from BTD A dealing with red and green grapes? In those far off days of BTD I used to avoid green grapes because they were apparently neutral and that wasn't flashy enough for me, but now 'grape' (no colour mentioned) is listed in both fruits and beverages as being diamond for Warriors. Have others moved over to accept green grapes these days?

I eat red and green seedless grapes on occasion without any problem; but I'm like you in that I prefer my foods to be super or diamond over neutral. When I was following the Diabetic Health Series book, I gave grapes up altogether.

It is not my responsibility to convince anyone of anything.

I too concentrate on the super & diamond food choices...that's how I believe I have attained such good results.

note, it says that "not everything on this list will contain corn".   so, tho ascorbic acid and citric acid could be derived from corn, it doesn't necessarily mean it is.     only by calling the manufacturer and asking will one know for sure.

why not make a list of corn allergen free products out there!

of those companies using citric, ascorbic and so on, NOT derived from corn, and also NOT advertising it on the label!

I d be the first to write to them, congratulating them on their high production standards and selfless commitment to our health!

I'll check next time I'm at the farmer's market.  You might try a Greek bistro-like place that has a little store as well as a restaurant.
