Hi Everyone,

I read thread after thread about people not knowing what their Genotype is. Its hard to tell for some and clear for others. I purchased the Genotype kit from Doctor D and it was well worth the $14.95. You get the Prop strips, finger print kit and a measuring tape with a large( in color)poster with all the instructions and strength tests spelled out very concisely and neatly.

Done.  Thank you.  I don't know why I didn't think of that.  I hope we can use it for more than one person.  I don't necessarily need the prop tasters and fingerprinter, as I know my secretor status.  But it would be interesting to see.

BTW, how do I change my Nomad word underneath the shield?  I went into the spot where all that stuff is, signature and what not, and can't find where it is.  I'm losing it I think.

Hi AB Noway,

Yes, the Genotype kit can be used for more than one perspon. Their are many Prop test strips (they do not indicate a secretor status) and you can do many fingerprints from what is enclosed. The poster is fantastic for a reference guide. I purchased mine as soon as I read the book. I wanted to be 100% sure of what I was, plus I love the science behind it all. The fingerprints were a real eye opener. Hope this helps.

I would love to be able to order just the Prop Taster strips... I had everything else already. I might order anyway just to have the fingerprint items for future comparison and maybe for a friend..

If you just need the strips you may want to stop by a high school or college biology department and ask if they have any. They should give you a strip for free.

You can purchase the taste strips by themselves from a science supply house. The taste strips may be for phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) instead of PROP.

For instance:

http://www.tri-esssciences.com/test_papers.htm
http://www.indigo.com/test-strips/taste-test-strips.html

Test without strips (I do not know how accurate this is):

Youíll need some blue food coloring, a magnifying glass and a piece of paper with a 1/4 -inch hole punched in it. (A paper hole reinforcer will also work.) Put a drop of food coloring on the tip of your tongue, rinse your tongue with a swig of water, and then dab your tongue dry. The result of this exercise? The fungiform papillae will stay pink, and look like little polka dots. The rest of the tip of your tongue will be stained blue.

Now for the moment of truth. Place the piece of paper with its hole over the stained area of your tongue, and count the number of pink papillae inside the hole.

Fewer than 15 papillae means youíre probably a nontaster. More than 35 means you are probably a super-taster. Any number in between 15 and 35 would mean you are an average taster.

Thanks for the info, C_sharp!

In checking out the links, I was reminded that I've been wanting to get more pH strips, too.

The food coloring test was fun, but I don't think it gave me any difintive answer. But my tongue is now an interesting shade of blue!

Well, I finally decided to order the secretor test and the genotyping kit. I've been fairly certain that I fit the Nomad GT, but before I go totally adapting my diet.. I'd like to be sure.

Plus I'll have the tools I need to further analyze my boyfriend and a family member or two. Glad to hear that there are several Prop taster strips included.

Hoping that I will stay a Nomad!
