So I've been suffering from Acne & bacne for over 15 years. Sometimes it's mild and sometimes it's strong. I've always considered it superficial to care about it but now I'm really fed up with it.

I'm wondering if it is caused by the few Nomad avoids that are still in my BTD that I've always consumed my whole life.  Since I've been adding more Nomad supers and diamonds I have more clarity and have come to this semi-conclusion.

These are the few avoids that are o.k. (neutral) for BTD but avoid for Nomad:

Chocolate
Sugar
white flour
cow milk (skim or 1/2%)
coffee

The acne did not improve or change when I took milk out of my diet a few years ago and it has been with me way before I started coffee.

So I've eliminated them as offenders for now.

Does anyone else know a lot about acne?  I know this is internal and not surface or topical?  Been there done that.

I've never had much experience with Acne, but pushing waste through the skin is one way the body gets rid of it.  Eliminating as much avoid intake as possible and letting the body remove any stored waste may be necessary to completely heal the skin.

Much success!

How about sunshine & Vitamin A?
That's what got rid of those bumps I had on the back of my arms from my teens to my 20s. It's amazing how important the sun is. You live in Texas, a hot & sunny place, but most folks stay in the freezing A/C which isn't healthy.
Eat lightly if you can & try fasting to speed up the process. You'll feel worse at first, but get better.

I have bacne, the two things that get rid of it are: Elliminating processed foods (The diet) and a good soap.  The ones I use that work are glycerine soap or burt's tomatoe soap.  They always come back though if I don't stay on track.

I always had luck by going in the ocean. I know this isn't always available so I don't know why I'm bringing this up. I put some of the nasaline mixture on my face. Before I used it of course. I thought it might act like seawater. OK you can stop laughing now...Aani

Listen, this is what I think: I think we can't go around measuring our goodness by what we don't do, by what we deny ourselves, what we resist, and who we exclude. I think we've got to measure goodness by what we embrace, what we create, and who we include. Pere Henri (Chocolat)

Thanks T.  yes fasting does seem to help which tells me it's internal.

I get lots of sun and always have. The sun helps but it's a temporary fix. No freezing A/C here which is funny because my dad owns an A/C company.

If ocean water seems to help, why wouldn't a little sea salt/water mixture? as strong as the ocean water...you know.really salty.   Makes sense to me. Hey.........are you guys laughing at me too.

My skin was always better as a teenager when we were at the beach until I put sunscreen on.  Then it would be terrible!

Like rub essential oil directly on a bump?  Or do you mean using them internally?

I've done everything externally that a person can do, now I'm going in.  I'm thinking of doing Dr.D's female balancing protocol from the encyclopedia. I think it may be hormonal?  Not sure.

The degree of acne is directly related to my monthly cycle.

Try a blue light I use Tanda on my break outs and they clear up quicker than anything I have ever tried.  I would recommend a larger system some of them come in as large as 8x10.  Better than the sun.

I am just starting my second week of the BTD and my skin cleared up 90% the second day on the diet when I cut out my negative foods and started eating more dairy.

I am not great about eating veggies so the advice for getting a lot of protein probably relates to my love for red meat and dairy.

OneHorseFarms, welcome to the forums!  That's great news!  We'd love to hear more positive results as you discover them.  The BTD significantly helped me too.

The Bert's Bees Blemish Stick is fantastic.

Any of you who know me  know that I've been working on this question for YEARS!!!  In fact, it's the whole reason I  gave the BTD a try....

Acne, for many of us,   is caused by a combination of sugars and fat.  This  can include natural sugars in fruit and can also include grains and starches that raise the glycemic load as sugars do.  I've done years of reading on this and have had  SUPERIOR  results in controlling my acne by  monitoring  my  sugars/ oils and fat intake....
So, if you are eating  food that raise your glycemic index ( fruit, sugar, wheat, grains, breads, crackers, pasta, el al)  then you must be very careful  NOT to include much oil / fat in your diet.....
On the other hand, if you are eating a lot of fats and oils (  which alone, is ok)  just don't add a lot of  foods that  raise the GI ( glycemic index)....
It's very difficult to do, really, because so many of the things we eat combine the two... but I  think if you will try this for a week or two you will see dramatic results!!   Everyone  who  has  given this a fair shot has seen HUGE results....   I hope this helps...

I remember being on with Susan Powder ( Stop the Insanity) diet many years ago. This is a very low fat diet. I didn't lose all that much weight. My face was very clear though. I lost a lot of inches. But I also ate a whole fat-free coffee cake...Aani

but you know if you eat a lot of fat as in olive oil,  good beef, nuts, lots of greens.... you get fabulous results... it's just when you add in the things that turn into sugars ( high glycemic things)   when the trouble begins...

so.. you can either go the greens, oils and fats route

OR

the  fruits, grains, sugars, greens and VERY little fats and oils...

I've gone both ways and both ways keep my face   and back  SUPER clear.... you just can't mix the two...

Makes sense,  doesn't it?  it's why so many dermatologist always said that foods don't cause acne..  but I've seen numerous articles lately  that are now confirming the high glycemic  knowledge.....    the  fats AND the glycemic index isn't as widely known..... but this is the key!
