OMG, Im so glad I found this place. Ive been wanting to read about other folks experience and ask a few questions. As a self tested Hunter, Ive been going crazy with the strangest numbness and tingling and stiffness, and muscle spasms.... oh yea sleeping all the way through the night would be awesome. After a few years of tests and trying everything under the sun here I am. Yes I spent $4000 for spinal decompression thinking it was pinched nerves in my lower back creating issues. I'll be paying those off for a while now .... ARG!!! Interesting things Ive noted here on the boards so far: Not just wheat but ... corn? I had no idea some reacted so badly to it. Some very good food and recepit ideas ... YEA!!! The Secretor test, Ill get one. For Some just the BTD Works better then the GTD, __________________________________ I wonder about me ?? ...... try one then the other? BTD Then GTD? Dairy, I did not think I had a problem with that ___________________________________ Things were fine for me save more than the usual colds etc. Until about three years go and then at 49 years old, the wheels started to fall of the wagon and .. geez fast to. So here I am, I toyed with this typing idea but never really committed to it. I think I needed a community like this to help me move along this time. Your all great |

Hello, Welcome, I am relatively newbie as well, have you gotten a chance to read the books yet? Which diet are you starting on GTD or BTD? I am right now doing both, can't seems to turn off BTD completely For O blood, no wheat, no corn, no pork, no diary. I really urge you to get a book to start reading. |

Hello cmoore (and printenna), nice to meet you As I understand it, the GTD is geared toward weight loss and maintenance. The BTD is more for those of us with health problems like chronic diseases, autoimmune disorders, etc. I'm speaking very generally, everyone is different--which is the whole point of Dr. D's work In my experience, your best bet is to learn to cook mostly from scratch and to become an inveterate label reader. These are not daunting tasks if you take them one step at a time. You've got a great resource in this board, there are plenty of friendly people here willing to help. Please ask lots of questions, feel free to vent, etc. Welcome to the board, I look forward to your posts |

Definetly get the secretor test done it helps with BTD and determinig the correct GTD. It is important that you follow the correct GTD if you opt for that path. To determine whether Dr. Dadamo would suggest GTD or BTD to treat your health conditions, take this simple online quiz. |

Cool on the on line quiz, that puts me right in the GTD camp. I have to order up the secretor test next. I was feeling at 1st this was a bit complicated but, Im thinking now, not so much particularly with this web site. The hard part is both wheat and corn are off the page for me. ... and dairy...... Mexican has always been a huge fav of mine. This should be interesting. I used to make a large enchilada casserole for everyone. Corn T's black beans, onions, black olives, read sauce, sharp cheddar. There was always lots left over. My perfect breakfast was casserole with a couple of fried eggs. Just about the only breakfast that could last me till 2 o'clock .... Oh well sa-la vie. |

you can keep on making your casserole, just add compliant stuff, learn to substitute. |

OMG, Im so glad I found this place. ...Your all great
So true! Hey, about the corn thing: if you see "fructose" listed as an ingredient, it is almost always fructose from CORN, so stay away from it, and the bad news is, they put it in EVERYTHING (and its brother). The good news is, you can learn to read labels and what alternatives are out there to things you realize you can no longer have. So stick with us and ask a lot of questions because, while it can seem overwhelming at first (and at various points all along the journey!), it IS doable and it IS wonderful, ta boot! edited to add: Also, if you see "dextrose", that is yet another "ose" from CORN. Stay away from fructose, dextrose, pretty much all "ose"es, ideally. Sad, but true. |

Well, that was short, sweet and to the point. Neat~! In fact, I'm going to save it in a safe place so I can have a NEAT answer to the conundrums that come up about these two diets. I wonder if I am right to feel that if we have a serious ailment it is to our advantage to align ourselves to our genes first?
This brings to mind ABNoWay's experience. It is almost eerie the way he has come to embrace the GTD at just the right time! Amazing!!! |

I used to make this dish too. It was my favorite and with chicken too. I'm not kidding MY FAVORITE! This is the one dish that I really missed in the beggining. I've been following the BTD for 13 months now and I don't miss it anymore. (Bs can't have any of that stuff either, and chicken and tomatoes on top of it). I don't miss it anymore. I've found substitutes and you will too. |

Isa, back in January when we were all measuring ourselves, some of us were right on the verge between one type and another (for me it was Warrior and Teacher), and the idea was batted around that we could try one diet for a few weeks or months, then switch and see how it fits us. I've done so well on the Warrior diet I just haven't seen any reason to try the Teacher diet. So if you choose the Warrior diet for a while and you feel bad, change to the Nomad diet and see how it fits you. We also found it much better to have somebody else measure us instead of trying to measure ourselves. |

Hi Isa, Some people have chosen to stick with their original BTD, and that is fine by Peter. During the time you were away, we spent weeks and weeks discussing on this Forum all the difficulties we were having as we tried to decide which genotype we were. You missed out on all the fun and struggles! Many, many people felt that they were a mix between the two. Gradually, most, if not all of us, have discovered which one is actually the true genotype, even if we might have a lot of the psychological qualities of another one. The deciding factor is the measurements. |

If you have time to search back deep into the bowels of the forum you will probably find a lot of the old discussions-- for instance if you want to see how a lot of us came to adapt to the GTD most of our chattering is on this very place, the Genotype Diet. I know that many people have chosen to stay with the BTD which is appropriate for them, but I have preferred to go with the ideas that have emerged from the last ten years of Dr. Peter's research. You will need the new book, and preferably a sympathetic friend to help you with the skeletal measurements. For me, it has given me a diet that I actually prefer, a refinement of what I had been previously using. And many great results, not only in weight control, but in energy and general health.Keep sharing your perspectives. |

I don't do well with wheat, either, Isa. But there are plenty of other grains that make my tummy feel very happy! But those beans!!! You can be glad you have missed all my complaining about those things!! I think on the Warrior diet, it is more what I have left off that was on the earlier A-type diet than what I added from the Warrior diet that has made the wonderful difference for me!!! I am being careful to eat more of the Warrior super and diamond foods than before, though. |

I'm a little like yourself Isa in the sense that I can slip right into the Hunter diet and not feel bothered and it is very similar to the O nonnie diet. But the measurements say this is not so and it is like I have to be more of a vegetarian ! And at the moment for me it is a struggle Who would believe I'd be eating what A's & B's eat ! |
