Dried bulk....so are you making tea from rose hips? I did a google search...Most companies that make rose hips to be sold as vitamin C use it along with other C ingredients. I found one pure rose hips from Swanson's Vitamins online that is 100% danish rose hips... 750 mg per capsule. Have no idea of the amount to take. Lola, would you know? |

Different ones of us take different quantities of vit. C. depending on our need. Bulk rose hips are a whole food and therefore their complexity will give a well rounded formula of vitamin and bioflavanoids. Although the actual vit C content is low compared to powdered sources such as amla or camu. A rose hips concentrate, if you can find one, would have a higher dose.
I take a much higher dose because I am working to rebuild my body after chemo several years ago, and adrenal fatigue, which requires much more vit C. Amla is one of the C sources that I use. It is a variety of Phyllanthus, which is an ingredient in at least one of the products sold at the NAP store for all blood types. So I feel pretty sure that it is fine for all of us.
I'm taking the NOW brand Tru-C Complex @ 200 mg vit C per capsule. |

Now.. I have been avoiding vit c with Rose Hips for years because I thought I read in the ER4yt or LR4YT way back when that O's were to avoid Rose Hips... Lola??? help! That link on the Swanson Pure Rose Hips looks real good however if I can have Rose Hips... I'm anxious to hear about that. P.S. Also I avoided most commercial brands of Vit C because I'm not really supposed to have it (because of Hemochromotosis), except from natural fruits so I figured the Amla C would serve that purpose without having to juice several lemons a day! |

no ma'am. I checked that before I bought it. I also just noticed the danish rose hip has the same ingred as what I get from Soloray, unless rosa canina means rosehip in another language (spanish perhaps?) |

I notice that there was no listing for the amount of vitamin C in the rose hips. With the adrenal rebuilding, I don't think I would do well without a generous amount of C. Maybe if the rose hips were used as a supplement to other vitamin C sources.
Just my opinion! I know that Lola does great with only rose hips, but I don't think it would be enough for me. |

That's 500 mg. of rose hips, not 500 mg. of vit. C. |

Well for the present moment I re-ordered the Amla C and some Astrlagus (supposed to be so good for the immune system). All the talk about Rose Hips is totally confusing to my flu - infected brain! |

Isn't this what is recommended for O's? and what is the dif between the rosehip and Vit C? I thought rosehip was Vit C.
I'm w/ you funkymuse, but my brain is bronchitis infected. |

I got mine because I went to a rehearsal with a group that had all had the flu and thought "I'm GTD healthy... I'll be ok." And I was for a few days... but the bug was in me, like a fly that lays eggs in a corpus (I know, gross) - but same thing..
and after a few intense exercise sessions and too many saunas, I wore myself down and boom, bang, bomb... I was down.
I've had a slight break this afternoon in the symptoms after a HORRID 3rd day morning where I wanted to cut off my head and throw it in a trash can... (man aren't we Hunters graphic!)
Anyway.. you can't be too careful with those viruses out there... it's just a warning to me, no matter how healthy I think I am, after I run into someone who has had a cold, I should beef (beef?!) (ha), up on supp's and take it a bit easy knowing my body most likely has come in contact and is fighting the thing off. |

Rose hips is a fruit of a certain variety of Rose, that contains a goodly amount of vitamin C. But if you grind up a rose hip, it is not 100% vitamin C. In 500 mg of ground rose hips, there could be 10 mg. of vitamin C, or 30 mg., or 50 mg., or . . . ?? Without knowing what the amount of vitamin C is in the product you buy, there is no way to know how much vit. C you are getting. Just like if you eat 500 mg of an orange. You are not getting 500 mg. of vit. C. Another example is that nutritional yeast is a good source of B vitamins, but 500 mg. of nutritional yeast is not 500 mg of B vitamins. These products contain vitamins, but are not vitamins themselves. Hope that is not more confusing! I think there are a lot of reasons that Dr. D has recommended rose hips for a supplement, and there are also different sources of rose hips. Once, while researching sources of it, I saw some liquid rose hips extract that was quite a substantial source of vitamin C. I drink rose hips tea regularly, which, (the company told me) has about 30 mg. of vitamin C per tea bag, but I supplement with other higher potencies of vitamin C from compliant sources. |

Well Victoria, firstly thanks for the heads up, I had NO idea!! and I called Soloray today. The have NO idea how much C is in each capsule because they don't test. Great!! I just ordered 5 bottles, so I guess I'll see what I can do about sending them back! While searching for the good liquid C, I came across these. OMG, they call these vitamins???????? http://www.puritan.com/pages/file.asp?PID=93&xs=http://www.luckyvitamin.com/074312427404.htmlThat should be illegal!! Guess I'll do some looking around tomorrow. I'll check out what you use and also the Alma. What a disappointment! All this time I thought I was taking some good stuff. |
