http://www.wellnessgrocer.com/food-for-life-bread-black-rice-p-1922.htmlToo bad they used Safflower Oil. Also for those that can have vinegar there is a Black Rice Vinegar which contains citric acid which helps metabolize food into energy. It says it has a smoky yet sweet flavor. Also Black Rice serves up twice the fiber of it's pale cousin (2 grams pe 1/4 cup) - so says the article. Also go with Black Sesame Seeds as it meets 40% of your daily calcium needs by tossing 1/4 cup on yoru salad or fish - that's apparently 10 times as much as you get with the white variety. |

Yes black rice is different from Wild Rice. It's totally black. And yes I found it locally.
Google it for more info... It's really good! Did I already say that? ha.... |

As far as I can tell, it's not listed anywhere, so for now, it's a neutral! |

Re: Umeboshi plum vinegar - That's what Dr. D said to me. His exact words were "You might find it a little salty". Good grief, is that stuff salty. I've been pouring kefir with seasonings on my salad. It tastes like ranch. |

yes but we can have umeboshi plum itself! And it takes just a little to season stuff.. I LOVE a little on beef. Wonderful.. just a tad though. Also Kefir is neutral for us (even though my tummy doesn't go for alot of it); we could do the ranch thing using just the umeboshi plum - Mayflowers would you share the Ranch recipe? |

I found it on the Whole Foods salad bar once. Just plain black rice. It was really good. Interesting. Chewy. But I'd eat it again if I had the chance. |

When I can't find Wild Rice, I substitute half each of Black & brown Rice for my stuffing... Black Rice Vinegar is called "Kurozu" in Japanese - One of the many beneficial drinks for the elderly over there. |

I found "China Black Rice" bread at my health food store in the section by the Ezekiel Bread. It's really yummy. Chewy, a little sweet, very satisfying, and an outrageous deep purple color. |
