wonder if this would prove true for all blood types. if so, I'll be all over those hemp hearts. I can use all the energy I can get and since we both have adrenal issues, this sounds promising!! What brand did you buy?
Nutiva brand. I can't say the energy's there for me----I meant they aren't kidding about the elimination. Maybe it would give other people energy. Or if I actually slept at night I might be able to feel the energy. But for those of us with sluggish elimination, it's great!

I feel the same about chia seeds. Great for elimination and energy. The perfect fiber for me, plus it's got awesome nutrients....I've been adding a tablespoon to a green protein drink twice daily and not only does it settle my digestive system, it gives me long lasting satiety. Chia doesn't have any particular taste (and it forms a gel like flax seeds in water). I thought hemp (Nutiva) tasted and smelled liked dried powdered mushrooms. Something about the smell made it impossible for me to drink. Chia is odorless and totally tasteless. Just another option for anyone who is sensitive to strong flavors and odors.

Hey--I didn't say it tasted good. I've never seen chia seeds. Can you get them at WF?
I just realized something else that might be playing a big part in my digestion today. I just remembered that yesterday I ran a beet through my Vita-Mix and ate it like soup. When I make a cooked beet, it doesn't affect me. But maybe 1 c. raw beet pulp is part of today's good fortune.

Maybe I'll try the hemp hearts one of these days. I have "sluggish elimination" too. I don't feel constipated, but I don't go every day. It's like my body is absorbing a lot more of the food I eat than it used to (no surprise there), so it takes a day or two for enough to build up for a "full load"!
Just this morning, the head of the supplement dept at our favorite health food store was telling me about how much she likes chia seeds. She said it's way cheaper to buy the organic seeds in bulk and grind them yourself in a seed mill or coffee bean grinder.

Chia are teensy little seeds. You can grind them and add them to other grains and bake with them, improving the fiber content of a muffin or pancake...or just let the liquid from soaking them whole (for about 15 minutes) be more of a lubricant for the gut. They soften when soaked and can almost be chewed as I drink the whole thing right down.
I think my gut needed the lubricating properties of soaked chia. Ground flax seeds contributed to my constipation and bloat. Different fibers for different folks. I had to try a few until I found chia to work the best for me.

When I use chia seeds I don't grind them up, just soak like flax seed. They only need to soak for 15-30 minutes. They work great for elimination in me, too. The gel-like properties of chia seed is great for sensitive digestive systems. The only problem for me is they thin my blood and give me nosebleeds so I take breaks and then try again.
I agree with some comments on chia seeds. I buy organic seeds from a place online and grind them in the coffee grinder. I added them to my breakfast mix of oat bran, ground flax seeds, nutritional yeast and some soy milk. Oh, forgot a teaspoon of brewers yeast.
Then I stopped that for awhile but I feel it really did help with elimination and will resume soon.
I haven't tried the hemp hearts yet but will keep them in mind.

May be true for all blood types, but not all Genotypes.
I had to give them up when I went on the explorer diet, because they are a toxin for explorers.
When I was on the blood type diet I ate them and found that they were quite a wonderful food for me (a little expensive-but delicious and had good health affects)

this right here.......this is what is so confusing about BTD vs GTD. How can this be a wonderful food for you on BTD and a toxin on GTD? Your blood type didn't change.

I just want to be clear that hemp seeds are not listed in typebase. Thus should only be considered neutral in the blood type diet. But for me they worked really well.
Found this online about chia seeds. Keep in mind it was written to sell chia but it's still interesting.
Here are ten benefits to using chia seed in your life. Chia seeds are:
1. Nutritious. Chia seed provides ample calcium and protein to your tissues. The seeds are also rich in boron, which helps the body assimilate and use calcium. The nutrients also support proper brain functioning.
2. Water loving. The seed can soak up ten times its weight in water. Do this fun experiment. Put one tablespoon of chia seed in a cup of water and stir. Wait a few hours and see what happens. When inside your body, the seeds help you stay hydrated longer, and retain electrolytes in your bodily fluids.
3. Easily digestible. The shells are easily broken down, even when swallowed whole. This is an improvement over flax seed, which have to be ground up to be digested properly. If you eat flax seed whole, it will just pass through.
4. Concentrated. If I could only take one cup of food for a few days, I'd choose chia! The food value per volume is simply astounding. You don't need much.
5. Mild tasting. Unlike some seeds, the flavor is very mild. The mild taste makes it easy to put in sauces, smoothies, breads, puddings, and whatever you want. They won't really change the taste, but will add to your nutrition!
6. Energy enhancing. The health pioneer Paul Bragg did an experiment an endurance hike with friends. They divided up into a chia-eating group and another group, who ate whatever they wanted. The group eating only chia seeds finished the hike four hours, twenty seven minutes before the others, most of whom didn't even finish at all.
7. Versatile. The seeds can be used to replace less-healthy fat in just about any recipe. You can use them uncooked in salad dressings, spreads, fruit shakes, ice cream, and just about anything you want. You can also add them to cookies, cakes, muffins, and other baked goods. I usually just mix in a couple of teaspoons to my juice or water and drink them down!
8. Slimming and trimming. Yes, the seeds will help you lose weight, for two reasons. The first reason is that they are so filling that you will eat less of other foods. The second reason is that they actually bulk up and cleanse your body of old "junk" in your intestines.
9. Endurance enhancing. Chia seeds are known as the "Indian Running Food". Also, the ancient Aztec warriors used chia seed during their conquests. I'm a runner, and I've used chia seed to enhance stamina and endurance on my mountain runs, some of which are several hours long!
10. Regenerating. After eating, the nutrients travel to the cells very quickly due to the ease in digestion and assimilation. Use them when you want to build or regenerate healthy body tissue.

Same here, don't go every day and never constipated. I also believe for the same reason you do, D55, that the body is just using most of what it's getting and there's probably nothing wrong with it, although it is quite different than the "normal" and I haven't heard of anyone else who is like this until just now. Interesting that we are both B-non's.

When I followed the BTD as a type B, I could have some white wheat flour and a little coffee. But when I found out that I am a non-secretor, the flour became avoid and so did the coffee.
I am still the same person with the same blood, but the knowledge to eat a diet that is more suited for me as an individual became more in depth.
Now, as a Nomad, I have more fine-tuned specifics as to what foods are even better (and worse) for my body.

"Quite a wonderful food for me" sounds like it worked.
Does anyone know why Dr. D. didn't put chia seed in the Warrior diet? I see chia seed oil but no chia seed. It seems to me that the seed would be a wonderful replacement for at least SOME of these everlasting (really) beans. It may be a neutral, but I'm not particularly interested in neutrals at this point. I've never seen any chia seed in my life, let alone chia seed oil. I just ate some beans ALONE, and I feel a major case of indigestion coming on. I can't seem to win with these things!

Ribbit, I have been meaning to ask you about your Vita-Mix. My sister has one she has had for some time and complains about how noisy it is. I wanted to buy one decades ago but never could decide if I would ever actually use it enough to justify the expense. You've mentioned yours before so I assume that you enjoy yours very much. Right? No doubt the prices are triple what they were when I first started getting material from them. Too bad I didn't buy one then...

Spring what beans are you eating that are causing so much problems? On the same list is tempeh, a superfood, does it give you gas too?

Ribbit, I have been meaning to ask you about your Vita-Mix.
I can't sing enough praises about my Vita-Mix. Yes, it was expensive. My husband bought it for me as a gift and I love, love, love it. Who needs roses on your aniversary? Give me something I can use. One year he started asking about jewelry preferences and I said, "What? How about a sewing machine?" Yes, it's loud. I warn everybody before I turn it on so they can cover their ears or go in another room or at least cringe. But mine's not a loud as my Daddy's, which he bought in the '70s (still works, nothing wrong with it. I think he replaced the gasket once. Mine has no gaskets.) Mine came with two different top parts, one for dry things like grains, and one for liquid things like juices and shakes and almond milk.
I use it every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I grind grain, make almond milk in about a minute flat, make "mayo" and almond-based dips, peanut butter....it's really great.
I think I'm going to start eating more beet puree.
