I have to go out of town next week. At least at a restaurant I can get fajita salad, but at Mickey D's there is only chicken salads and burgers with bread. I will be traveling in a car with other women who don't eat GTD. (Like how many people do eat for BTD or GTD!) I have one friend who is GTD and she will be along, so maybe we can support each other.
Does anyone have any Gatherer fast food suggestions? |

If you're stuck eating at McD's, go for the salads; ask for no dressing or on the side and no croutons. Don't use the dressings, as they're loaded with corn syrup and other garbage; instead grab a lemon wedge from the drinks section and squeeze that over the greens. If possible, try to go to Wendy's. Imo they have a better selection of semi-compliant items and their burgers are pretty decent without the buns. When we stop there (maybe once every two or three months or so) I order a single with everything but cheese and mayo and eat it without the bread, with a salad on the side and some unsweetened iced tea with lemon. It also helps to pop some Deflect or NAG afterwards, whatever you choose to eat |

Bring as many compliant snack foods with you that you can and also if you travel alot, it's great to invest in a small travel blender and just throw it in your suitcase and then bring along some compliant protein powder. |

Brighid pretty much said what I do. At a fast food place I eat the hamburger without the bun, eat the salad without dressing and put cream in my tea and that's it. If you can eat some nuts while in the car that will stave off hunger. Pretty spartan but at least I'm happy with myself and have no regrets later. |

My B husband eats the chili from Wendy's, but he thinks it might have something corn-ish in it. |

I think a thermos of green tea is a great traveling companion, as a gatherer you can have some chocolate with it. Or even a thermos of homemade soup could be fun, stuff it with superfood and remember the chocolate! |

so question about the chocolate... most chocolate has sugar in it.. like chocolate bars.. and probably other things.. so what kind of chocolate is ok? I think I'd just bring one of those soft coolers and put some bags of spinach in there.. then bring some raw pumpkin seeds... olive oil.. make a salad... OR.. try a wonderful salad in a container with some cooked quinoa raw almond slivers, red bell pepper, curry, currants and olive oil.. oh , and chopped cilantro... something like that.. I honestly wouldn't eat fast food if you are traveling.. but then, I take my own food often when we are traveling.. |

We're also heading off for a trip at the end of the week. My "goodie bag" contains Deflect, dried fruit and nuts, Deflect, BTD bars (expensive but useful in this case) and lots of tea bags - green, peppermint for motion sickness, chamomile for calming. Oh and did I mention the Deflect? Most places will serve you hot water to add your tea bag to, and often won't even charge for that. If they won't, try asking for a standard tea with the tea-bag separate "because you like it very very weak", then substitute your own when you get back to the table. Can you tell I've tried this before? I agree with the burger-without-the-bun suggestion as a worst case scenario as long as you can tolerate a little wheat, because many burgers contain breadcrumb-type stuff for cheap bulking. What about fishburgers with the crumb removed? Cod is a bennie. Have a good trip! |
