To help determine the lesser of two evils, will the reason why a toxin is a toxin ever be provided (like in the BTD Typebase)? For example, all the commercial rice, almond and oat milks (I'm assuming the latter is neutral for Nomads) contain some toxin or another. And I don't foresee myself making my own. Buttermilk is a black dot. Since I would only consume these in baked products--therefore infrequently--is it better to go with a black dot or something with an unknown quantity of straight-up toxins?

My assumption is that Dr. D will develop more specific information as time go forward...  He has stated that the typical path is from general information to more specific.  I don't expect it right away, however...

It might not be as hard or tedious to make your own yummy nut milks as you might imagine. I think it would be more flavourful if you used an herb tea that is appropriate and flavourful during the filtering process instead of water and you could add you own kind of sweetener instead of sugar. Nomads could add a bit of nutmeg or use licorice root tea. Warriors could use cocoa powder.

I have to avoid sweeteners of any kind for now but here is a link for making your own vegan ice cream, in case you might be interested in trying that when the summer rolls around.

Oh my gosh.. homemade rice/nut/soy milks are a snap to make.  I purchased a Soybella and you just put cooked rice in it and water and 15 minutes later - wah la!  AND EASY cleanup.  One of the secrets is using 'cooked' rice which was a tip I found on a site.

It would be nice if the Typebase Food Values site someday got expanded to include Genotypes also.  It would be a great tool to cross compare and make decisions on your own whether to cheat a bit with a certain food or not.

sooooo, have you made almond milk? If so, how did it come out. I have had no luck w/ getting all the grit out of the milk. I love almond milk, but that grit just chokes me. this looks like a cool product. I like that you don't have to skin the almonds, or so it says. Would you post your experience if you've made almond milk. thanks.

I don't have grit in mine.  I have experimented with skinning them and not skinning them.  It's much easier to not skin them.  I just put them in the Vita Mix (1 c. almonds), add 4 c. water and blend for a while.  Then I add some salt and agave and pour it through a very fine sieve.

Also are you soaking the almonds which softens them?  And the Soybella has such a fine strainer, I doubt you would get any grit.

Call the company to make sure... but in my research and subsequent personal research, this Soybella is fantastic.

The BTD and GTD are two totally different diet systems (although the GTD does look at blood type as one factor).  Why would one try to "match up" the lists?  Can't be done, my friend!


I guess I just don't understand all the folks who are so intent on making lists of neutrals and lists matching up the BTD and GTD and lists, lists, lists!  I see the diets as complete the way they are laid out, and elegant in their simplicity.  Why needlessly complicate things?

That's just my two cents on the matter.

No worries, Kate, that one makes sense to me.  The quote you have of mine was not directed towards that idea.  It was in response to the sugg that we try to "match up" the BTD and GTD lists.  IMHO, that way lies madness, as the saying goes *lol*.  In other words, they (the food lists of the two diets) don't match up, because they are two different diet systems with two different sets of criteria.

Gotcha. Yes, since some of our foods changed from one diet to the next (such as soft cheeses for Bs: good; soft cheeses for Nomads: bad  ), the information on the BTD Typebase is not going to apply.

I was just thinking that it would be nice to have one Typebase that had had both BT & GT listed so that if you looked up a food, you could see the reasoning behind the beneficial/toxin choice especially if it is a lectin issue.  But, I suppose it would be confusing to someone trying to strictly follow one diet or the other.  I guess there is a need for two separate typebases.  Oh well, win some, lose some.

My offer to help still stands in whatever capacity I can be useful.

I believe Dr D has made it clear that BTD and GTD are two separate systems.

this site here takes care of the BTD issues, while the GTD site takes care of those other issues.

I do not see a combined typebase happening any time soon, for that reason.

if you personally believe you want to combine and create your very own BT/GT guideline, it is entirely up to you to do as you please and what feels right for you......it isn t something Dr D advices.
so again we have individuality kicked up a notch!!
