If they are made with brown rice and don't contain other ingredients that could be Toxins, they should be okay, I think. The book lists these rice varieties as Superfoods: rice bran rice flour, brown rice, basmati rice, brown rice, wild (but that's not botanically related to other rice). White rice is not listed with the Toxins, so it must be neutral for Hunters.

Thanks Novelia - the ones I buy are Kallo Organic lightly salted and 28 calories each - the ingredients listed are Wholegrain Brown rice and salt so I guess that they are OK! |

You're most welcome! Yes, they sound ideal for rice cakes. |

I am wondering why you would not chose something more substantial for breakfast? Seems that you would get hungry pretty quickly with just rice cakes and ghee.
A long day of hunting might require a bit or protein. |

You'd think after (or before) a long day of making war, a Warrior would need some red meat.....but, no.....guess not. Just some beet greens and chocolate. |

Ribbit, have you read the book yet? The Warrior moniker is described well in the book. |

Yeah, I read the book. But I read the Warrior section first then all the others. I guess I need to go back and read Warrior again to refresh my memory and nail down in my mind what I really am. |

interestingly....my son (anthropology major) told me that grains first made it in a big way as a way of paying soldiers (warriors) a salary....bag of grain per week, or whatever, as they could carry it with them on long marches and cook as needed. So war and grain go hand in hand. |

"Nose to the grindstone," is what I always say. It's why I like Ron's polar bear. He never gets anywhere, but at least he keeps on going. |

Then I guess you've never seen the whole video. At the end, the rest of his body slumps to the ground. It's really cute. |

Ugh, rice cakes. I don't know what motivated me to buy them. The only way I can stand them is slathered in peanut butter...and the more PB and less rice cake in a bite, the better. Alas, no more PB for me now! I guess I could use them as biodegradable coasters. |

Kate, Oh shucks. He runs out of steam? That's disappointing.
Drive, you can make a really nice chocolate topping for rice cakes. (Or you could use carob powder if you're actually going to give up chocolate.)
1 Tbsp. cocoa powder or carob powder 1 Tbsp. agave 1 tsp. ghee
Mix together and spread on a rice cake.

And see there....farming is in my blood. I have to grow things. I need to grow things. I have this insatiable need to grow things that produce food.
We used to live in Miami where nobody grows anything that I was used to growing. Everybody down there told me I couldn't grow anything but peppers and tomatoes in pots. Well, I didn't have any dirt, and I wasn't about to actually go buy dirt (I grew up on 27 acres---how could I think of buying dirt?), and I had to plant something, so I built a trellis between several pots, and I grew sugar snap peas. I sure did. I was that stubborn. Our (Cuban) mailman said, "What's that?" "Peas." "What do you do with them?" "Eat them." "Oh. I've never seen them." People came over to our apartment just to see my peas.
Need to put Drive's biodegradable coasters in my compost pile. |

Both chocolate AND carob are no-no's for nomads!!! I am trying to leave them alone. I don't like carob so much, and I'm not a chocolate fiend (but I still like it)
Need to put Drive's biodegradable coasters in my compost pile.
Not even the chocolate sauce fixed them? |

Not that anybody really *needs* to eat rice cakes. But if you want to give them a fair shake, don't give up till you've tried the Lundberg brand.
They're twice as dense as most other brands, so they actually have a flavor. (Of course, they have more calories per cake, too, so if you're eating rice cakes to cut calories, you'll only need to eat half as many.) Since going gluten-free, they're the only organic "crackers" I've found that don't have any no-no's in them. Hmmm, well, except for some rice crackers that DEFINE the word tasteless!

When I first tried rice cakes I thought it was like eating polystyrene but having gone back, in the absence of ryvita, I found then quite palatable, with some butter. Will certainly try the chocolate spread - that sounds great. |

If I must eat a rice cake (there are so many other choices of grains I'd rather have) then Lundberg's Seaweed and Tamari cakes are the best (imo). Unfortunately, I can eat (and have done so) the whole bag in one sitting. |

Good thing there's still fish on the superfood list, although not all restaurants serve the beneficials. |
