. Pecorino is pretty good cheese and Hunters get that!!! My gosh I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I tried that cheese!
Well, gracious, I know I'd like this cheese, it's Italian!! (hope I'm reading this right after that statement ) And sheep, wew-hew!!! Cute!!! there are some things that make ya feel that way.
PT might not be here for a while, she usually gets slammed at her workplace first thing on Monday mornings. I'm sure as soon as she gets a few minutes to herself she'll be here. Stay chillin', MC. Standby. We may need you yet.
Btw sib, I checked the book and it looks like Explorers share some diamond superfoods with Gatherers, so I'll keep a weather eye out for recipes we can both use.

Opps! I got it wrong... Manchego is the one that is good to just eat a chunk of - DELICIOUS!!! Percorino tastes very similar to Manchego except it is more salty and strong - Percorino is better for using in cooking.
When we got these two new cheeses home to try, I BANNED my husband from touching the Manchego after I tried it! ha... I wanted it for me and only me!! Ha... (not really but kind of!!!) Ha...

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-manchego.htm Ahhh, from Janet's neck of the woods! Will have to give this a try then. I won't have to worry about my DH getting in this cheese........if it's not American, mozzarella or cheddar, he doesn't want it.
All right, whoever's got PT, let her go. I'll make the sacrifice to keep us all safe.
In case anyone sees what appears to be an early sunrise this morning, look towards Florida, and search for the mushroom cloud that is PT.
Oh, missilecop, you have just made my day! I was going to read this entire (2-page!) thread before responding, but I just have to say that IMMEDIATELY! I just had a very "challenging" weekend, with a once-every-five-year cold that mushroomed on Thursday night (talk about "detox", whoa, Nellie, I'm in it in spades!). I had thought smugly that I was fighting it off so much better than my co-workers and la la la, and then Thursday night came and: COLDZILLA! But more on that later (maybe), just had to say that between that, a kitty who is really failing, and then this Explorer SITUATION (more on that in seconds--its all good), it was quite the weekend. As soon as I thought I was an Explorer, I immediately called Carol (h-kitty) and proceeded to freak out in what must have been quite an incomprehensible manner because between the cold and the hysteria, ! Poor Carol. What cruel twist of fate put her in my local dialing area **?! But she was a rock in my time of need, thinking I was fated to spelt, cilantro and oat oil! Oh, goodness, the HUMANITY. But never fear: all is well on the Twist's Genotype Front, AND there is a big lesson to be learned here, which any moment I will get to, I promise!
Well, we shall now see how you enjoy trudging through those rough waters!!! Get trudging!
Yaoouza! Touche (how in the heck do you spell "touche"? I never had a French lesson in my life. I hope I didn't just write the French word for patootie instead of the French word for "Okay, ya got me there: point deserved and taken"!).
Well, guys, it turns out that I am a Gatherer afterall, and might I just add a hearty: thank the stars ABOVE?! If I might, consider it added!
What happened was--and herein lies a very important lesson/reminder for us all--I had done the finger measurements incorrectly (might I add ANOTHER hearty: thank the stars ABOVE?!). I was using a tape measure that only had markings on one side. I was doing the measurements correctly on the index finger (D2). However, for the ring finger, I was automatically/without thinking placing the tape measure between the pinky and the ring finger instead of between the middle finger and the ring finger. I didn't even realize that I was doing this, and I kept re-measuring and re-measuring in HORROR, realizing that, my goodness, this isn't a tie, this is clearly the ring fingers on each hand being longer: OMG, I'm an Explorer!
But thankfully--and here is where years of BTD experience really comes in handy--I knew things didn't feel right at ALL. Whereas the Gatherer genotype fit me like a glove, there were only a few things that fit me about the Explorer genotype and, very pointedly, the food lists just seemed all WRONG, and I mean WRONG. I instantly called Carol and freaked out, that was my entire game plan there! Beyond that, I had no plan *lol*! Other than a vague thought of, well, there is always the BTD! Because I can't live on spelt and oat oil, that is fo SHO! But, in all seriousness, once I saw spelt as a superfood, I KNEW that something was wrong, so I decided:
1. Calm down and very slowly:
a. Re-read the instructions to make SURE your method of measuring is not flawed.
b. Re-do the measurments to make sure your data is not flawed.
c. If you are indeed an Explorer...explore the possibility of flinging yourself off a cliff, but only after you complete a. and b. and give yourself a few weeks to get used to the idea!
Well, thank goodness the book is written as clearly and unambiguously as it is, instruction-wise. It clearly states in the instructions for measuring your fingers, be sure to measure between the middle finger and each of the fingers in question. The main concern there is that folks might measure between the thumb and D2 (index), which would give erroneous data because the thumb joins very low down on the palm, but when I saw that, it clicked with me that, wait, so does the pinky! Not as dramatically, but definitely the "webbing" is lower between D4 and the pinky than it is between the middle finger and D4! Oh, hallelu, hallelu! I felt like I was rescued at the last second, in the middle of walking to the gallows!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I quick like a bunny remeasured and ! Index LONGER on both hands--not even a tie!!!!!!!!! LONGER!
I'm a Gatherer. But before I figured that out, I did manage to spaz out to Carol and I told her that she'd better warn everyone on the board that I could be a complete basket case by tomorrow (a.k.a., today)! She dutifully set about the task of issuing a Cat Five PT Warning, but amazingly, the danger has disapated!
And why I say it is a blessing to have the BTD experience is because I knew enough to know that something was wrong. The diet was all wrong, it didn't fit. As Dr. D. phrased it in discussing strength testing, there is something called "goodness of fit". And while I have the caffeine sensitivity in spades and the personality of an Explorer, nothing else made any sense, especially the food lists (and the "muscular" and the mesomorph and basically the entire full monty: I'm an Oprah/Elvis, not a Chaplin/Caesar!). I'm not sure I would have realized that and re-checked my methodology and data, had I not learned from the BTD to "trust my instincts", and also had I not learned which foods work best for me and which are definitely toxins to be avoided, such as spelt! I saw that one thing alone, spelt, and I immediately knew "Something is very, very wrong. I did something wrong." And sure enough I had.
So, what I would say in all seriousness to anyone who is really struggling with their newfound genotype, if it REALLY doesn't feel right after you sit with it openmindedly, is: go back and make SURE that you followed instructions carefully, completely and correctly. I had NOT, and if I didn't doublecheck, I would have had myself in the wrong genotype!!!! It would have been spelt, cilantro and oat oil all the way!
I'm so thrilled to be a Gatherer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GoooOOOOOooooOOO: index fingers!

Just butting in here from Spain...Manchego...is Mmmmmmmmmmm - simply the best! Janet...hoping to be a Teacher!! Have I told all you folks that I'm still waiting for delivery of MY BOOK!!
Phew! Let me tell you, sleeping in full protective gear is NO fun. Not to mention uncomfortable. And it scares the bejeezus out of my kitty Beser when I sit up in bed.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go shed my battle gear, and change into snow gear. We've got 10 inches of snow here this morning, and more falling. I have to go see if I can find my car.
That, and declaw Beser off of my bedroom ceiling.
PT, glad to hear that it turned out to be a false alarm.
Hmmm...Brighid and PT....twins. Now I have this image stuck in my head of the two, putting their fists together, and saying, "WonderTwin* powers..ACTIVATE!" ROFL, with tears to boot!
*Cartoon reference, for those not familiar with the WonderTwins

Sitting here looking out at many many inches of beautiful wet snow. The tree branches are bending under the weight. It's so pretty! It really makes more sense that you are indeed a Gatherer like so many of us, PT. I hard an awful time measuring my fingers too and got different numbers whenever I measured them. I still think that the ring finger is longer on one hand by a tiny bit but being O Neg. Secretor I'm still a Gatherer (longer torso and longer bottom legs). Welcome back even though it was just for a Sunday! Jane

I'm sorry I put you and Beser through all that, mc. But the great part is that it smoked you out of hiding and you are posting, so something good came out of it! And if you think sleeping in full protective gear was a challenge, just think what poor Carol went through dealing with me on the phone! Oh, it was not for the faint-hearted!
As soon as she got the "lo" out of "Hello", I was off to the races about the cold from h*ll and my kitty and how I thought I'd distract myself from it all by doing my measurements and now I'm an Explorer and this can't be but I did the measurements several times and CLEARLY my ring fingers are LONGER on both hands and omg OAT OIL? And there are NO meats except lamb and turkey and what are cusk and drum and sucker and where do I get a quail egg in this town, tell me that if you can, and what in the flaming fires of existence is "babassu oil" and how can this even BE, how can this come down to a millimeter here or there of finger length when everything else and its brother says GATHERER?
I think Carol deserves a special BTD commendation. She really had to bear the brunt of some friendly fire!
