Now here's a thing I was thinking of last night... On the Hunter disease process - how many of us have what going on at the moment? I have inflammatory action in my thumb joints which does not show up on the xrays as anything but the Doc told me that in the beginning stages of osteo or other arthritis conditions, it does not show. Also I have funny knees - especially my left knee which has been operated on 3 times. They wanted to do a total knee in early 2006 but said I was too young so they went in and cleaned it up and it's been very good every since. I'm praying for continued healing with this eating regime! My left knee hasn't done too bad but it gets a little funny from time to time. Also had a recent xray at the chiro and my neck is stage two with osteo. My eyesight is a little low (reading glasses required close up) and I've got a few lbs on me which by the way since being on this are melting away fast WITHOUT counting calories or watching portion sizes (except to follow what the GT diet recommends). And last but not least the most important of all here is that I've certainly had some bad tummy problems in the past. I don't feel my tummy is completely healed yet but I'm sure looking forward to it and I think alot of the inflammatory stuff will clear up when it does because for the most part doesn't our tummy affect our entire body? Looking forward to hearing about others and keeping track of our healing progress! |

Funky,
I don't know how long you were on the BTD. I was compliant for almost 4 years. A lot of the inflammatory issues that you mention I also had. The knuckles on my right hand have been inflamed or bloated since I was about 12 years old. A specialist at the time said I had the beginnings of arthritis and that an operation to cut out the inflammation woould be a good idea. Luckily my parents disagreed. However, for the next 35 years, my knuckles were inlamed and often the skin would crack and bleed at the joints. After 3 years on the BTD, the inflammation had all but gone. Overall I'm mighty impressed.
As for reading, my eyes started degenerating about 5 years ago. Anything less than a foot in front of my eyes was a blur. I started getting glasses for reading. I was told by the optometrist that my eyes would degenerate gradually. And in the first 2 years I had 3 sets of glasses all slightly stronger than the last. For some reason, I had missed my yearly checkup one year and by the time I went it was almost 2 years since the last visit. Again, I had been on the BTD for 3 years at this stage. When my eyes were checked, they hadn't deteriorated at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's 2 years and they had stayed the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was stunned as I left the optometrist. I can only put it down to the diet. Nothing else had changed.
I haven't started the GTD yet but I intend to. I've just got some issues around portions. |

Good stuff Vandelam! What are the issues you are having around portions?
I don't really watch them at all except to pay attention to what the book suggests.
I'm looking forward to continued healing. I'm really dropping the lbs, I tell you. Feeling really good. I can feel my muscles getting stronger and leaner like a Hunter on the Hunt! ha.. kind of weird to explain.
My joints still ache but certainly not as much as they used to. I live in a cold damp area so it may take a bit longer to really get the aching to diminish - however they used to wake me up at night aching and hurting.
My neck and back are still chronic. I need to go and get some nice neck/back work twice a week - so expensive. sigh.
The only thing black dot food I'm really struggling with at this point, is Rice Milk. I hope that it's ok to drink my own homemade when I get my machine. I don't need alot of it but a little here and there in my tea and shakes.
Yesterday I made a totally compliant fudge from one of the BTD recipes (totally compliant with almost all superfoods for the Hunter), and it is great! Especially warm! BUT dangerous when warm! You wanna keep eating it! ha... When it's cold, you just want a little bite. So I'm keeping it cold!

I find I am eating quite healthy portions with snacks. Wow... what an amazing science...

Here's a link to a new way (to me) to make kale. I tried it tonight and it was really good, kind of crispy. Leave off the black pepper, of course. Next time I may try adding curry powder to it. I didn't have any sesame seeds today so I left them off. http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/sidedish/kale_ovenroasted.html
Sounds Fabulous. I like the idea of 'kind of crispy!' |

Hi there fellow Hunters. I just discovered I am a hunter, 2 days ago, and my husband is (most likely) a Explorer. I am very excited - and have been losing weight ever since the transition to GTD. The crazy thing, i havent even fully transitioned, havent been starving, counting or low carbing at all. This is too cool. I have been working out, and walking daily. I look forward to exchanging recipes here. I dont think grains are as big a problem for me as once thought. I have been using ezekial cereal w/ almond milk, and doing ok w/ it. Im thinking of eliminating it for a while, going back to eggs or on and off. I was doing rice crust Amys pizza, but realize mozzarella is out so no more of that, plus it was giving me slight heartburn anyhow. I LOVE that we can have chocolate!! and its a beneficial. Now, i need to just eliminate the sugar. I self published a cookbook a few years ago for fun/hobby, and having a sister who is a chef, i look forward to exchanging some yummo recipes on here. Does anyone know (for time savers) some brands or foods that i can find in my health food store of prepared foods? ie: canned chilli, frozen amys dishes, I did see that comment re: the walnut, date chocolate bar- that sounds super yum. Oh, and I found a ice cream- made w/ Rice milk- is that a no no? (i am guessing so). Anyhow, i am very excited to be here and to meet you all |

Hey here's a question for us Hunters... how much are you all eating out there on this new GT eating regime?
I find I am eating quite healthy portions with snacks. Wow... what an amazing science...
I go by the hand size portion rule for bafst, lunch & dinner. As for snacks, the only time I feel hungry is around 1030am & 4pm..and I have fruit & nut for the morning and dates & cocoa drink for the evening. |

So I've added the Skullcap and the Chromium to the supp regime. I'm taking them with my lunch meal since it does not say otherwise in the book. Anybody know any different on this? What's everyone taking in regards to supps? I'm also still on quite a few of the ER4YT supps and since I have about a 6 month supply won't be switching over to the GTD supps until then. Also Nic4Health... and other Hunters interested I tried Kate's Walnutty Chocolate Fudge recipe on the ER4YT Recipe database and yummy! I had to add extra sweetner (stevia) and next time I make it I'm going to add dates! I cut it up in small chunks and have a piece after one or two of my meals. On the health update front... I am losing weight and the only time I have issues with inflammation is when I eat cheese... so I'm going to maybe cut back for the 4-6 month period and see what happens. This breaks my heart cause I've really fallen in love with that Manchego! I might sneak in a small bite occasionally! My neck is still chronic and I'm wondering what to do about that... I grit my teeth at night because of the tension and of course that is a double edge sword because it causes more neck tension! sigh. And lastly does anyone know if Grapefruit juice really moves things along through the intestine? I've taken to drinking a glass in the morning when getting up and man... I'm really having some clearance (to put it nicely!) |

funky,
if you're taking Holy Basil, try cutting it out for awhile. It was causing me excruciating neck pains and stiffness, because the dosage they typically sell it in, is way high. |

Statins are the cholesterol-lowering drugs.
In addition to grapefruit problems, statins are also being implicated as a cause of rapid-onset cancer. My grandmother smoked for 60 years and drank diet sodas for 40 years, but got cancer within a year of having been put on a statin drug.
I'm not saying that smoking and artificial sweeteners don't cause cancer; I'm convinced they do. But I also know that my grandmother was a Type O and that, of all the types, they typically have the lowest incidence of cancer, with the exception of skin cancer. |

Well.. today was a shocking day. We got my hubby's GT kit and BT kit and secretor kit in the mail. We only ordered the BT kit because we needed to find out his RH factor. Well turns out he is NOT AN A like he has been telling me for the entire time I've known him, but he is an O Positive; and when moving on the to GT testing, he is a HUNTER! Poor thing... I took his steaks and duck and other goodies away from him quite awhile back when he told me he was an A on the BT diet. He is ready for his first steak in 2 years tonight! When he was in grade school someone told him he was an A - or so he thought! ha... What a discovery. Now I can prepare the same foods for both of us and save myself one heck of alot of trouble! In looking in the Advanced testing charts in the GT book, it really doesn't matter what his secretor status is, because of his torso, leg and finger measurements - no matter whether he is a secretor or non - he is still a Hunter. The question here is, I looked at the foods lists for Hunters and there is no special requirements for non secretors there, so even if he is a non secretor, there are no special requirements. So am I correct in this assumption or did I miss something? |

We just had tuna melts for lunch:
me: basmati rice with yellowfin over the top, then Percornio cheese and seseme sprinkle with seaweed and salt. I wrapped each bite in romaine and crunched down! Delicious!
hubby: spelt toast with ghee with yellowfin and percornio on top and seseme sprinkile with seaweed. carrots and celery.
What are Hunters doing for mayo? |

Hi all Still doing well. Still losing also !!! Funkymuse- that is kind of funny (in a sad painful way for your hubby) but i had to laugh, that poor man has been eating the wrong way. He should be feeling much better now on the Hunter diet! Also, thanks for the info on the recipe. Also, re: the joint/health issues- since I was young, i had pain in my knees. I have had hip problems for about 5 years now (before i got married) and saw a Chiropractor for a bit. I thought i was insane, but this diet seems to be helping my problems. I hope it heals them, along w/ daily work outs. My hubbie is now making the transition to the Explorer diet. I am trying to make lists of foods that are beneficial for both of us, or at least neutral for one and Bene for the other, its not that easy, but i can handle the challenge. Has anyone a good chocolate chip cookie recipe? Using brown rice flour, (i forget if we are allowed that)? Ive been craving cookies! I bought dates today. I made really yum sweet potatoe mash tonight, simple with just salt and organic butter. Served with steak and a salad. It was great. Im trying to figure out what to replace my evening ice cream with. Anyone have any tips? I have still been doing well eating this Acai berry ice cream (but it has soy lecethin in it, is that a no-no?) Nice to be here! ps- Lola- for mayo, I buy a Olive oil mayo from my health food store. slightly different taste, but does the trick. I havent yet checked the ingreds but i recall CRFYT having a olive oil mayo recipe. |

It seems to me that the Hunter diet is BTD O secretor with more avoids. This either means I've been having the right things anyway or nothing much will change. Hope that it not the case |

He had steak last night and sweet potato pancakes and was in ectasy the entire time! But he had to give up his peanuts and vanilla yogurt. But he says that's ok!
This morning I made us a gourmet compliant breakfast - egg and cheese fritta with turkey bacon (Applegate Farms). It was outstanding! Oh yes and we had a side of DELICOUS millet with ghee and agave nectur! Heaven has arrived in our kitchen!

Here here on the healing! I've had three knee surgeries but not the big one yet. My knees don't ache, just hurt with certain movements. So I'm very careful. I want them to heal so I won't have to go through the total knee! I've quit going to a traditional chiro and now have this guy coming over using muscle work to work the bones back into place. Painful but effective. He says anyone with osteo should not have chiro adjustments esp. on their neck.. (I'm sure this is a controversial subject.)

Try the recipe database over on the main BTD page. Sounds like you need a good hit of some grain. Sometimes when we crave it's our need for some type of nutrient.

Nice to have you here! I was just complianing over at the Gatherers Thread that they are so social! They have over 325 posts! And we are struggling behind here... BUT I told um it was because we were out Hunting! HAAAAA. Peppytwist wrote back and said that while we were out hunting - all the Gatherers were collecting seeds and fruits and gabbing away back at the homestead or something to that effect! It was hilarious! |
