Hi All,

Any Type Bs have poor experiences with turmeric as food and not a supplement?

On days i do not take Turmeric in my breakfast, i feel more alert and energised. I've read on one of the facebook groups that turmeric affects blood platelets for certain people.

I feel sluggish, low metabolism and i hardly sweat in our terrible heat when i take turmeric.

Anyone else experience this when they ingest turmeric?

i take it as a blended mix - 1 tsp spirulina + 1 tsp turmeric + 1 tsp carob

Will appreciate any help =) thanks

i think i must have overdosed on it. thanks! will try a 'pinch' rather than a whole teaspoon (following the amount in swami's recommended serving, guess is too much)

I seem to have no problems ingesting large quantities a few table spoons at a time cooked with my food....but here is the rub if you want the benefits or increase more benefits from turmeric add some black pepper this combo is a real winner I am an O and black pepper is not suppose to be good for us O's but i feel good with it

Adding black pepper will do very little to enhance absorption of turmeric (curcumin), as the agent that does this is piperine and to get enough piperine to actually enhance absorption you'd need to take about 2-4 tsp of black pepper with each dose. Piperine doesn't work by increasing absorption of curcumin (turmeric),  but rather by delaying its breakdown in the liver. Many of those reactions (glucuronidations)  are also important for the detoxification of xenobiotics (man-made toxins) and other metabolic byproducts (estrogens).

In the long run the best thing is long-term, low dose usage without mucking with your liver's detox abilities.

Pure turmeric (not curcumin extract) is high in salicylates. If you're salicylate sensitive (berries, almonds, lots of fruits), you might try boosting your liver function and try healing your gut if you're having gut issues.

I've also heard turmeric is a methyl donor (much like folate). Some people have problems with that (getting "overmethylated" so to speak).

That may be why it makes me feel so good. Anything that thins the blood is on my side.

I stopped taking Scienca last month, and definitely feel the difference with a noticeabley "taxed" sensation in my circulation. I know it's hard to imagine that, but yes, it's real. I'm going back on it. We Warriors shouldn't second-guess these things.

You totally found the point i'm searching for. Thanks very much for your input. Yes i'm sensitive to salicylates topically as well as ingestion. but in very very small amounts 1/4 tsp  or less per meal diluted seems ok on me. maybe the tolerance is different.

Glad to help. I'm okay with curcumin, but I have issues with aspirin and some really high salicylate stuff. Hope you can add a bit more as your liver/gut health improves.
